QU Launches First Phase of ‘Safety and Flow’ Campaign

Doha: Qatar University (QU) launched the first phase of the ‘Safety and Flow: A Shared Responsibility’ campaign aimed at ensuring the quality and flow of traffic on campus.
The campaign includes a series of measures aimed at facilitating the flow of traffic on the university campus, while it includes aspects related to parking, opening new gates, and directing students to them, in addition to facilitating transportation services for students and university staff within the campus.
In a statement marking the occasion, Director of Facilities and General Services Department Eng. Mai Fetais confirmed that the University had completed preparations for a new parking lot that aims to serve students from the College of Engineering and College of Business and Economics, as one part of a comprehensive plan that began at the beginning of the current semester. She pointed out that in accordance with the plan, short-term parking will be allocated for drivers of female students.
Eng. Mai Fetais added that the plan includes providing a golf cart service that will transport female students from the multi-story parking to the colleges.
She noted that the administration has provided everything that would provide comfort for the students, such as cafeterias in these parking lots.
The Director of Facilities and General Services Department noted the opening of three new gates, bringing the total of entry points to the QU campus to seven, which aims to reduce congestion at other gates.
These new gates include Gate No. 7, which leads directly to the College of Arts and Sciences (Female), Gate No. 4, and Gate No. 5, which lead to the College of Education, College of Law and Student Affairs Building.
Eng. Mai Fetais encouraged the QU community to take advantage of these gates, to reduce pressure on the main gates and to avoid drop-off on the public streets, to ensure the safety of all and to prevent further traffic congestion.
The University has also worked on a comprehensive communication plan for this campaign to guide students to benefit from these new positions and the services it provide.
The operation of the multi-story park is the first step in this thorough plan, which will be followed by successive steps, as part of a large project to regulate the flow of traffic within the QU campus in coordination and cooperation with concerned external authorities: The Ministry of Interior, Public Works Authority (Ashghal), specialized consulting offices, and others.

الدوحة: أطلقت جامعة قطر المرحلة الأولى من حملة (السلامة والانسيابية: مسؤولية الجميع)، في إطار جهود خدمة طلبتها وتسهيلا لانسيابية حركة المرور في الحرم الجامعي.
وتتضمن الحملة سلسلة من الإجراءات الهادفة إلى تسهيل انسيابية حركة المرور في الحرم الجامعي، فيما تتضمن جوانب تتعلق بمواقف السيارات وفتح بوابات جديدة وإرشاد الطلاب إليها، إلى جانب تسهيل خدمات نقل الطلاب والطالبات وموظفي الجامعة داخل الحرم.
وفي تصريح صحفي لها بهذه المناسبة، أكدت المهندسة مي فطيس، مدير إدارة المرافق والخدمات العامة بجامعة قطر أن الجامعة انتهت من عملية تجهيز مواقف جديدة لطالبات كليتي الهندسة والإدارة والاقتصاد، وذلك في إطار مخطط شامل بدأ تنفيذه مع بداية الفصل الدراسي الحالي .. مشيرة إلى أنه ووفقا لهذه الخطة، سيتم تخصيص مواقف قصيرة الأمد للسائقين الذين يوصلون الطالبات للجامعة.
وأضافت المهندسة مي فطيس أن الخطة تتضمن كذلك توصيل الطالبات، عبر سيارات جولف مخصصة (من وإلى) مبنى المواقف متعدد الطوابق ومباني كليتي الهندسة والإدارة والاقتصاد.
ونوهت إلى أن الإدارة عمدت إلى توفير كل ما من شأنه تحقيق الراحة لطالبات الجامعة، مثل توفير الكافتيريات في هذه المواقف مع بداية انطلاق الطالبات نحو الأقسام؛ لتسهيل المرور عليهن وقطع المسافة بين المواقف والكليات.
وأعلنت مديرة المرافق والخدمات بجامعة قطر في سياق ذي صلة عن فتح ثلاث بوابات جديدة، ليصبح مجموع بوابات الجامعة المفتوحة حاليا 7 بوابات مع توفير الإرشادات إليها بشكل واضح، وذلك لتسهيل الحركة المرورية وبما يخفف من الازدحام على البوابات الأخرى.
وأفادت أن البوابات الجديدة تشمل بوابة رقم 7 التي توصل مباشرة إلى كلية الآداب والعلوم- بنات، إلى جانب البوابتين 4، و5 اللتين تسهلان الوصول إلى المباني الجديدة، مثل: كليات التربية والقانون ومبنى شؤون الطلاب.
ودعت منتسبي الجامعة إلى الاستفادة من هذه البوابات وتخفيف الضغط على البوابات الرئيسية، وعدم النزول من السيارة على الشارع العام؛ حفاظا على سلامتهم الشخصية ولمنع مزيد من الازدحام المروري.
وحرصت جامعة قطر على تنظيم خطة إعلامية اتصالية شاملة لهذه الحملة لتوجيه الطلبة للاستفادة من هذه المواقف الجديدة والخدمات التي توفرها لطلابها.
ويعد التشغيل الكلي لمبنى المواقف متعدد الطوابق ضمن الخطوة الأولى في هذه الخطة المرورية، حيث ستليها خطوات وفقا لخطة زمنية مدروسة كجزء من مشروع كبير لتنظيم وانسيابية حركة المرور داخل حرم الجامعة بالتنسيق والتعاون مع الجهات الخارجية المعنية والتي تشمل وزارة الداخلية، وهيئة الأشغال العامة، ومكاتب استشارات متخصصة وغيرها.
