Beirut: Qatari driver and champion Nasser Al Attiyah announced his withdrawal from the 45th Rally of Lebanon, the 4th round of the regional rally series; the FIA Middle East Rally Championship, running for three days.
Al Attiyah’s withdrawal came after he was involved in a very serious accident on Saturday, causing major damage to his car which prevents him from completing the rest of the stages, including the final stages on Sunday.
Al Attiyah and his co-driver Matthieu Baumel were not seriously injured when their car rolled over and left the track, however their car was seriously damaged.
The Qatari driver won the rally’s exhibition stage on Friday, beating Lebanese Roger Feghali and his co-driver and compatriot Joseph Matar, who then ascended the rally’s ranks following Al Attiyah’s withdrawal yesterday.
The Rally of Lebanon’s total distance is 634.43 km, with 11 special speed stages covering 195.34 km, held on an asphalt track in the districts of Keserwan, Jbeil, Batroun and Matn.

بيروت: أعلن السائق القطري ناصر بن صالح العطية حامل اللقب انسحابه من منافسات النسخة الخامسة والأربعين من رالي لبنان الدولي، الذي يشكل الجولة الرابعة من بطولة الشرق الأوسط للراليات، والتي تقام منافساتها على مدار ثلاثة أيام.
وجاء انسحاب العطية بعد تعرضه لحادث خطير للغاية، في مراحل اليوم السبت، مما أدى إلى أضرار كبيرة في سيارته، تمنعه من استكمال بقية المراحل، ومراحل اليوم الأخير /الأحد/.
ولم يتعرض العطية وملاحه ماثيو بوميل لإصابات خطيرة من حادث انقلاب سيارتهما وخروجها عن المسار، إلا أن السيارة تضررت بشكل جسيم.
وكان العطية فاز بلقب المرحلة الاستعراضية من منافسات الرالي مساء أمس الجمعة، متفوقا على اللبناني روجيه فغالي بصحبة ملاحه ومواطنه جوزيف مطر، والذي تصدر مراحل الرالي اليوم بعد إنسحاب العطية.
تبلغ المسافة الاجمالية لرالي لبنان 634.43 كلم منها 195.34 كلم طول المراحل الخاصة للسرعة وعددها 11 مرحلة، ستقام في كسروان وجبيل والبترون والمتن على مسار أسفلتي.
