Doha: On Tuesday, Apple (AAPL.O) revealed the latest versions of some of its top-selling devices in light of declining consumer spending and increased restrictions on its flagship iPhone in China. The world’s most valuable publicly traded company will launch these new products starting from September 22, with hopes of topping customers’ wish lists for the crucial holiday shopping season.

Here are the key highlights of the announcements:

iPhone:

Apple introduced the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, both featuring 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays, respectively, similar to their predecessors.

The higher-end models, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, priced at $999 and $1,199 respectively, include an “action button” in place of the mute switch, customizable for various functions. These models also utilize titanium instead of stainless steel for the side bars.

In compliance with European law, Apple has transitioned to the USB-C charging standard for the new iPhones and AirPods Pro. USB-C connectivity simplifies the transfer of high-quality videos from the iPhone directly to external hard drives, catering to professionals.

All new models feature a 48-megapixel primary camera, with the Pro Max boasting 5X optical zoom and 3X telephoto capability. Users of the Pro devices can capture “spatial” or three-dimensional videos compatible with Apple’s upcoming Vision Pro headset.

The latest iPhone’s satellite connectivity allows users to request roadside assistance, a feature launched in partnership with the American Automobile Association in the U.S.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are powered by the A16 bionic chip, while the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will feature the A17 pro chip. The Pro line’s hardware is optimized for high-end mobile gaming, according to the company.

Apple also noted that the batteries of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, starting at $799 and $899 respectively, are constructed from 100% recycled cobalt.

Watches:

Apple unveiled the Watch Series 9 and the second generation of the Watch Ultra, maintaining the dimensions of their predecessors.

The latest watches are equipped with the next-generation S9 chip, capable of delivering enhanced animations and effects. This marks the first processor upgrade since the release of the Series 6 line in 2020.

New features include “double tap,” a gesture feature enabling watch control without touching its face, along with improved dictation and brightness settings.

The Ultra 2 introduces a customized watch face providing more workout information and an improved battery life of up to 36 hours with normal use and 72 hours on low-power settings.

The Series 9 starts at $399, while the Ultra 2, priced at $799, aligns with the earlier base model’s pricing.

The Series 9 is Apple’s first carbon-neutral product, and starting this year, all watch manufacturing will be powered by 100% clean energy. Apple will also eliminate leather from all its products, including watch bands.

AirPods:

Apple introduced the second-generation AirPods Pro, priced at $249, featuring improved sound quality and double the active noise cancellation compared to its predecessor. It also offers a range of ear tip sizes for a better fit.
