Traffic Department: New Radars Capture 3 Violations at Once – No Discount for Phone Use!

Doha: Captain Mohamed Rabia Al-Kuwari, the officer in charge of violations at the General Traffic Department, confirmed the launch of automated monitoring for two violations: not wearing a seatbelt and using a mobile phone while driving.

Captain Al-Kuwari in statements to Qatar Radio, revealed that the new radars can capture three violations at once: not wearing a seatbelt, using a mobile phone, and speeding.

He explained that the new radars are equipped to monitor three violations simultaneously on all lanes, and a vehicle’s driver can be fined for more than one violation.

Regarding the penalties for seatbelt and phone violations, Al-Kuwari said: The seatbelt violation is subject to a discount within 30 days, while using a mobile phone incurs a QAR 500 fine without any discounts. He emphasized that traffic laws have highlighted these violations due to their impact on traffic accidents and damage to public property and road users.

He pointed out that a vehicle’s driver can inquire about any violation through the Metrash 2 app or the ministry’s website, and a response will be provided within a week through Metrash 2 after verification by the radar operators.

He affirmed that the Ministry of Interior is committed to promoting traffic safety, noting that wearing seatbelts and not using phones while driving reduces traffic accidents, revealing that 50 to 60% of traffic accidents are caused by these two violations.

وكشف النقيب الكواري – في تصريحات لإذاعة قطر – عن أن الرادارات الجديدة تستطيع التقاط 3 مخالفات في آن واحد وهي عدم ارتداء حزام الأمان واستخدام الهاتف النقال والسرعة.

وأوضح أن الرادارات الجديدة مهيأة لرصد 3 مخالفات في وقت واحد على جميع المسارات ويمكن ضبط قائد المركبة إذا ارتكب أكثر من مخالفة.

بشأن الخصم على مخالفتي الحزام والهاتف، قال الكواري: المخالفة بالنسبة لحزام الأمان تستحق الخصم خلال 30 يومًا، أما استخدام الهاتف النقال تكون 500 ريال قطري ولا تشمل الخصم، لافتًا إلى أنها من المخالفات التي شدد عليها قانون المرور بسبب تأثيرها على الحوادث المرورية والأضرار التي تلحق بالممتلكات العامة ومستخدمي الطرق.

وأشار إلى أنه يمكن لقائد المركبة الاستفسار عن أي مخالفة عبر تطبيق مطراش 2 أو موقع الوزارة على الإنترنت، وسيتم تقديم الرد خلال أسبوع عبر مطراش 2 بعد التحقق من قبل مشغلي الرادار.

وأكد أن وزارة الداخلية تلتزم بتعزيز سلامة الطرق، مشيرًا إلى أن ارتداء حزام الأمان وعدم استخدام الهواتف أثناء القيادة يقلل من حوادث الطرق، وكشف عن أن 50 إلى 60% من حوادث الطرق ناجمة عن هاتين المخالفتين.
