Doha: NASA reported that last July marked the highest global temperatures ever recorded since data collection began in 1880. According to NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, July surpassed all previous records by 0.24 degrees Celsius.
Comparatively, July 2023 stood 1.18 degrees Celsius warmer than the average temperatures recorded between 1951 and 1980 for the same month. Bill Nelson, NASA’s administrator, emphasized, “The data from NASA reaffirms what people worldwide experienced firsthand: July’s temperatures have elevated it to the hottest month on record.”
Nelson stressed, “The scientific consensus is crystal clear; the time to take action to safeguard our communities and planet is now—the Earth is our only home.”
In their assessment, NASA identified specific regions, including parts of South America, North Africa, North America, and the Antarctic Peninsula, where temperatures soared significantly, registering increases of around 4 degrees Celsius above the historical average.
Gavin Schmidt, the director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, clarified, “The Earth’s warming trend is primarily attributable to human-generated greenhouse gas emissions.”

الدوحة: أفادت إدارة الطيران والفضاء الأمريكية “ناسا” بأن يوليو الماضي كان أكثر شهور السنة حرارة على مستوى العالم منذ بداية تسجيل درجات الحرارة في عام 1880.
ووفقًا لعلماء معهد “جودارد” لدراسات الفضاء التابع لـ “ناسا”، “كان يوليو أدفأ بمقدار 0.24 درجة مئوية من أي يوليو آخر في سجلات درجات الحرارة التابعة لـ ‘ناسا'”.
أضافت “ناسا” أن يوليو 2023 كان أدفأ بمقدار 1.18 درجة مئوية من متوسط الشهر نفسه بين عامي 1951 و1980.
ذكر بيل نيلسون، مدير “ناسا”، “تؤكد بيانات ‘ناسا’ ما شعر به مليارات الأشخاص حول العالم بأنفسهم، إذ جعلت درجات الحرارة في يوليو الماضي هذا الشهر الأكثر حرارة على الإطلاق”.
وأكمل نيلسون قائلاً، “العلم واضح، يجب أن نتحرك الآن لحماية مجتمعاتنا وكوكبنا، إنه الوحيد الذي نملكه”.
ذكرت إدارة الطيران والفضاء الأمريكية أن أجزاء من جنوب أمريكا وشمال إفريقيا وشمال أمريكا وشبه جزيرة أنتاركتيكا شهدت ارتفاعًا في درجات الحرارة بشكل خاص، حيث سجلت زيادة تصل إلى 4 درجات مئوية فوق المعدل.
أوضح جافين شميدت، مدير معهد “جودارد” لدراسات الفضاء، قائلاً “إن ارتفاع درجات الحرارة حول الأرض يُدفع في المقام الأول بانبعاثات الغازات الدفيئة التي تُسبِّبها البشر”.
