Historic Achievement for Qatar in the Energy Sector during Q2

Doha: According to a recent study conducted by GlobalData, as reported by the specialized global energy magazine Oil Review, oil and gas contracts in the Middle East received a significant boost in the second quarter of 2023, thanks to the massive contract secured by Qatar as part of the North Field expansion contracts.

The study highlights that the liquefied natural gas project in Qatar’s North Field and the joint petrochemical project between Saudi Aramco and Total Energy contributed to a 60% increase in the overall value of oil and gas contracts in the second quarter of 2023.

The driving force behind this increase, as per the study, was the substantial contract for the South-North Field project in Qatar. According to GlobalData’s analysis titled “Oil and Gas Industry Contract Insights by Sector – Exploration, Production, Refining, Region, Planned and Announced Contracts, and Key Contractor Rankings, Q1 2023,” the total value of contracts rose from $35.4 billion in the first quarter of 2023 to $56.7 billion in the second quarter of the same year.

Brettan Kadd, the Oil and Gas Analyst at GlobalData, commented, “The substantial surge in value is attributed to Technip Energies and Consolidated Contractors Company, a $10 billion joint project for engineering, procurement, construction, and operation aimed at building a 16 million tons per annum natural gas liquefaction project in Qatar’s South-North Field.”

الدوحة: وفقًا لدراسة أجرتها شركة GlobalData، كما ذكرت مجلة Oil Review المتخصصة في قطاع الطاقة، حصلت عقود النفط والغاز في منطقة الشرق الأوسط على دفعة كبيرة في الربع الثاني من عام 2023، وذلك بفضل العقد الضخم الذي نجحت قطر في تأمينه كجزء من عقود توسعة حقل الشمال.

تشير الدراسة إلى أن مشروع الغاز الطبيعي المسال في حقل الشمال القطري ومشروع البتروكيماويات المشترك بين أرامكو السعودية وتوتال إنرجي ساهما في زيادة قيمة عقود النفط والغاز بنسبة 60٪ في الربع الثاني من عام 2023.

كان الدافع وراء هذه الزيادة، وفقًا للدراسة، هو العقد الكبير لمشروع حقل الشمال الجنوبي في قطر. ووفقًا لتحليل GlobalData المعنون “تحليلات عقود صناعة النفط والغاز حسب القطاع – التنقيب والإنتاج والتكرير والمنطقة – العقود المخططة والمعلن عنها وتصنيف المقاولين الرئيسيين، الربع الأول 2023″، ارتفع إجمالي قيمة العقود من 35.4 مليار دولار أمريكي في الربع الأول من عام 2023 إلى 56.7 مليار دولار أمريكي في الربع الثاني من نفس العام.

علق بريتان كاد، محلل النفط والغاز في GlobalData، قائلاً: “يُعزى الارتفاع الكبير في القيمة بشكل رئيسي إلى شركة Technip Energies وشركة Consolidated Contractors Company، وهما مشروع مشترك بقيمة 10 مليارات دولار أمريكي للهندسة والمشتريات والبناء والتشغيل، يهدفان إلى بناء مشروع لتسييل الغاز الطبيعي بسعة 16 مليون طن سنويًا في حقل الشمال الجنوبي في قطر.”
