Hamad General Hospital to be Closed for Maintenance for Two Years

Doha: Al-Sharq Newspaper has obtained exclusive information from a reliable source indicating that Hamad General Hospital, an integral part of the esteemed Hamad Medical Corporation, is slated for a temporary suspension of operations for a duration of two years. This strategic decision is aimed at undertaking comprehensive maintenance measures to elevate the hospital’s infrastructure and bolster its fire protection system in strict adherence to the country’s safety standards.
The source confirmed to “Al-Sharq” that the temporary closure of Hamad General Hospital will not affect outpatient clinics during the initial phase of the closure, nor will it affect the operating rooms. Instead, it will only include the inpatient department, with patients being transferred according to the approved protocols of the Hamad Medical Corporation, in accordance with international standards applicable in such cases. They will be distributed between two hospitals: Aisha bint Hamad Al-Attiyah Hospital, which is the second-largest government hospital after Hamad General Hospital, and the Medical Care and Research Center, located adjacent to the Daily Medical Care Center, Qatar Rehabilitation Center, and Women’s Health and Research Center. The decision to close the hospital has been planned for the past five years.
The source clarified that “the development project of Hamad General Hospital is part of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) projects, and the purpose of the temporary closure is to subject it to maintenance as it is one of the oldest hospitals affiliated with the Hamad Medical Corporation. The goal is to renew the infrastructure and the safety and fire protection systems. The expected date for patient transfer is scheduled to start in September.”

الدوحة: علمت جريدة “الشرق” من مصدر مطلع أن مستشفى حمد العام، وهو أحد المستشفيات التابعة لمؤسسة حمد الطبية، سيعلَّق العمل فيه على مدار عامين لصيانته. يهدف الإغلاق لتعزيز بنيته التحتية وتعزيز نظام الحماية من الحرائق بما يتناسب مع المعايير المحددة من قبل الدولة.
أكد المصدر في تصريحاته لصحيفة “الشرق” أن الإغلاق المؤقت لمستشفى حمد العام لن يؤثر على العيادات الخارجية خلال المرحلة الأولى من الإغلاق، ولن يؤثر أيضًا على غرف العمليات. سيشمل الإغلاق فقط قسم المرضى الداخليين، حيث سيتم نقل المرضى وفقًا للبروتوكولات المعتمدة لدى مؤسسة حمد الطبية، ووفقًا للمعايير الدولية المعمول بها في مثل هذه الحالات. سيتم توزيع المرضى على مستشفيين آخرين وهما: مستشفى عائشة بنت حمد العطية، والذي يُعد ثاني أكبر مستشفى حكومي بعد مستشفى حمد العام، ومركز الرعاية الطبية والبحوث، الذي يقع بالقرب من مركز الرعاية الطبية اليومية، ومركز قطر لإعادة التأهيل، ومركز صحة المرأة والأبحاث. وأوضح المصدر أن قرار الإغلاق مخطط له منذ 5 سنوات.
وأوضح المصدر أن “مشروع تطوير مستشفى حمد العام يأتي ضمن مشاريع هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال”، والهدف من الإغلاق المؤقت هو لإخضاع المستشفى للصيانة نظرًا لأنه من أقدم المستشفيات التي تتبع مؤسسة حمد الطبية. ويهدف التحديث للبنية التحتية وأنظمة السلامة والحماية من الحرائق. من المتوقع أن يبدأ موعد نقل المرضى في سبتمبر المقبل”.
