QatarDebate Center Organizes Summer Camp for Youngsters

Doha: QatarDebate Center, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, has organized the summer camp for youngsters within the students activity forum at the Education City.
The camp aims to introduce the importance of debate art as a vital life-skill that promotes the culture of dialogue through which students acquire skills of critical thinking, since debate is a critical form of investment in posterity to help them utilize tools that make them develop themselves and chart a prosperous future for their homeland.

The five-day camp, dedicated to 10-13-year-old students, held workshops that combined joy with learning to provide them with the opportunity to explore concepts that are relevant to debate through theoretical and practical activities, in addition to helping them acquire new experiences during summer vacations and investing in leisure times by enriching their knowledge and abilities through offering a wide range of educational and interactive activities and workshops that benefit them in their daily life.

The camp program focused on several beneficial themes, including development of public speaking skills by learning how to properly deliver speeches, methods of preparing inaugural speeches and convincing the recipients. The workshops also addressed enhancing leadership, community, and cultural capabilities of the participants, as well as basics of planning to achieve best results, learning about arts of debate and understanding its elements and methods of its application.
The trainer Farah Alharbi outlined that the key objective of the camp was to equip young people with keys of critical and logical thinking, along with the proper conversation that is based on respecting others’ opinion through the debate style which represents a practical model to enable them to hold these keys in a more effective and attractive manner.

The recreational activities helped the participants develop their creativity, in addition to developing their knowledge abilities and providing them with life-skills to upgrade their skills in debate, Alharbi said.

الدوحة: نظم مركز مناظرات قطر، عضو مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع، المعسكر الصيفي للمناظرات لليافعين ضمن ملتقى النشاط الطلابي بالمدينة التعليمية، وذلك للتعريف بأهمية فن التناظر، باعتباره مهارة حياتية مهمة تعزز ثقافة الحوار وتكسب الطلبة مهارات التفكير النقدي، وشكلا هاما من أشكال الاستثمار في الجيل القادم وتمكينه من الأدوات التي تساعده على تطوير نفسه ورسم مستقبل زاهر لبلاده.

قدم المعسكر، على مدار خمسة أيام، ورش عمل جمعت بين المتعة والتعلم للطلبة المشاركين والذين تتراوح أعمارهم بين 10 أعوام و13 عاما، كما أتاح لهم فرصة استكشاف المفاهيم المتعلقة بالمناظرات، من خلال الأنشطة النظرية والتطبيقية، بالإضافة إلى اكسابهم تجارب جديدة خلال الإجازة الصيفية واستثمار أوقات فراغهم بإثراء معارفهم وقدراتهم من خلال تقديم مجموعة متنوعة من الأنشطة والورش التعليمية والتفاعلية التي تفيدهم في حياتهم.

وركز برنامج المعسكر على عدد من المحاور الهادفة، منها تطوير مهارات الخطابة بالتعرف على الإلقاء السليم وطرق تحضير افتتاحية للخطابات وكيفية إقناع المتلقي، كما تناولت الورش تعزيز قدرات المشاركين القيادية والمجتمعية والثقافية، وكذلك أسس التخطيط لتحقيق أفضل النتائج، والاطلاع على فنون التناظر وفهم عناصرها وكيفية تطبيقها.

وأوضحت المدربة فرح الحربي أن الهدف الأساسي من المعسكر هو تزويد اليافعين بمفاتيح التفكير الناقد والمنطقي، بالإضافة إلى الحوار الراقي المبني على احترام الرأي الآخر، من خلال أسلوب التناظر الذي يمثل النموذج العملي لتمكينهم من هذه المفاتيح، بطرق أكثر فعالية وجذبا لهم.

وأشارت إلى أن الأنشطة الترفيهية ساعدت على تطوير إبداعات المشاركين وإثراء خيالهم، بالإضافة إلى تطوير قدراتهم المعرفية، كما أكسبتهم قيما شخصية ومهارات حياتية تساعدهم على تنمية مهارة التناظر لديهم.
