PHCC celebrates International Nurses Day

The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) celebrated International Nurses Day, which is celebrated on May 12, to highlight the importance of the role played by the nurses as they are the first line of defence.
The WHO joined hundreds of partners worldwide to highlight the importance of nurses in the healthcare continuum and thank nurses for what they do. The theme for this year is “Nursing the World to Health’, the WHO said, while highlighting that in this year of the Nurse and the Midwife, now more than ever, it is essential that governments support and invest in their nurses.
Assistant Director of Nursing at PHCC, Afrah Moussa, highlighted the role of the nursing sector in providing treatment for patients, saying that they are the link between the patient and their family members, and that is their role is central to improving the treatment results and follow-up during the course of patient treatment.
The nursing staff also plays an effective role in improving the health level of all members of society, being the most decisive factor in the quality of care provided, Afrah said. She pointed out that the nursing team always strives towards achieving the goal of complete health care for the individual in the areas of awareness, prevention, diagnostic and treatment.
Among the essentials of the nursing profession is health education and awareness of chronic diseases, clarification of maternity services for pregnant women before and after birth, and providing necessary vaccinations to immunize children against infectious diseases besides their main role in treatment services, she said.
The Assistant Director of Nursing stressed the important role of nursing staff in health centers, especially during this period in light of the outbreak COVID-19 disease, as nursing cadres in primary health care are considered the first line of defence against COVID-19.
The PHCC noted the joint cooperation of the nursing cadres with the MoPH and HMC to contribute with the rest of the medical cadres in meeting the needs of the Qatari community by examining and guiding the largest possible number and the delivery of the service to patients in their homes to overcome the epidemic as soon as possible, and working to increase health awareness of the visitors in the health centers by urging them to follow the necessary means and precautions to avoid infection with COVID-19.

احتفلت مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية باليوم العالمي للتمريض الذي يصادف 12 مايو من كل عام، من خلال التأكيد على أهمية الدور الذي يلعبه الكادر التمريضي باعتبارهم خط الدفاع الأول الذي يتوجه له المريض.
وأعلنت منظمة الصحة العالمية شعار هذا العام وهو «السنة الدولية لكادر التمريض والقبالة» مستهدفة تسليط الضوء على أهمية هذه الكوادر، نظراً لما تواجهه من ظروف صعبة واستثنائية في العمل الميداني لاحتواء مرضى فيروس «كورونا» ومجازفتهم بأرواحهم للحد من انتشاره، وكذلك الدعوة لزيادة الاستثمارات في القوى العاملة في مجالي التمريض والقبالة.
وقالت السيدة أفراح موسى مساعد مدير التمريض بمؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية، إن قطاع التمريض هو الركيزة التي يعتمد عليها في استمرارية العناية بالمريض باعتباره حلقة الوصل بين المريض وأفراد أسرهم، لذا فدوره يعد مركزياً في تحسين النتائج العلاجية للمرضى ومتابعتهم أثناء مسارهم العلاجي، كما يؤدي دوراً فعالاً في الرقي بالمستوى الصحي لجميع أفراد المجتمع لكونه العامل الأكثر حسماً لجودة العناية المقدمة ونوعيتها وهو الفئة المتوفرة طوال الوقت وعلى مدار الساعة.
وأشارت إلى أن فريق التمريض يسعى دائماً نحو تحقيق هدف الرعاية الصحية الكاملة للفرد في المجالات التوعوية والوقائية والتشخيصية والعلاجية، حيث من أساسيات مهنة التمريض التثقيف والتوعية الصحية للأمراض المزمنة، وتوضيح خدمات الأمومة للحامل قبل وبعد الولادة، وتقديم اللقاحات الضرورية لتحصين الأطفال ضد الأمراض المعدية، إلى جانب الدور الرئيسي في الخدمات العلاجية.
وشددت السيدة أفراح على أهمية الدور الرئيسي للتمريض في المراكز الصحية، وخصوصاً في هذه الفترة مع تفشي مرض «كورونا»، إذ تعد كوادر التمريض في الرعاية الصحية الأولية خط الدفاع الأول لمواجهة «كوفيد – 19» حيث إنه تتم معاينة كل المراجعين أولاً بأول وتلبية احتياجاتهم، فتجد الكادر التمريضي أول من يقوم بتصنيف المرضى وفرز أولئك الذين لديهم أعراض وتوجيهم إلى غرف العزل، في حين يتم توجيه الأشخاص الآخرين لأهمية استخدام خدمة الاستشارات الهاتفية وتشجيعهم على البقاء في المنزل، وفي الوقت نفسه يتم تذكيرهم بالإرشادات المتبعة لتقليل العدوى، كما يقوم الكادر التمريضي بمتابعة مرضى الحجر المنزلي والتواصل معهم.
