MoPH reports 776 new confirmed cases of coronavirus

Qatar on Saturday confirmed COVID-19 on 776 more people, raising the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus infection in the country so far to 14,872.

While no new death was reported in the last 24 hours, 98 more people recovered to bring the total to 1,534. As many as 13,326 people are currently under treatment for the infection in Qatar.

The Ministry explained that most of the new cases are due to expatriate workers who have been infected with the virus as a result of contact with individuals who have been previously infected – theses cases have been identified as a result of investigations carried out by the Ministry.

The remainder of new cases infected with the virus have come from citizens and residents who have contracted the virus from members of their families, who in turn had contracted the virus through their workplaces or other places where they had been to exposed to infected people.

All the new infected cases have been quarantined where they are receiving the necessary medical care. 

The Ministry of Public Health stated that during the current period it expects to see a fluctuation in the number of cases of infection. This is for several reasons including that the outbreak of the virus is considered to be at the peak stage before the numbers of infections start to descend gradually.

The Ministry has also recently stepped up efforts to track the transitional chains of the virus and expand the search for people infected by conducting extensive and proactive investigations of large numbers of contacts with people who have recently been confirmed with the disease. 

The number of tests carried out will always depend on the number of contacts a positive patient has had which therefore has an impact on the number of positive cases reported daily.

The Ministry of Health stated that people with the virus do not show any symptoms of the disease, and their positive status is identified thanks to the early tests conducted by specialized ministry teams, in order to provide early care to them and reduce the risk of them transferring the virus to other people. 

Also, many of the recorded cases experience mild symptoms and do not require any medical intervention, but are quarantined and given access to medical care and support. However, it is important to continue to remember that COVID-19 can be severe for the elderly as well as those with chronic diseases.

The Ministry of Public Health calls on all members of society to stay at home and not go out except in cases of necessity and to implement preventive measures and maintain physical distancing, including in the workplace and public places. The Ministry reminds people to use a face mask as recommended and avoid social visits to reduce their risk of contracting the virus.

أعلنت وزارة الصحة العامة اليوم عن تسجيل 776 حالة إصابة جديدة مؤكدة بفيروس كورونا (كوفيد-19)، وتعافي 98 حالة من المرض وذلك في الأربع والعشرين ساعة الأخيرة، ليصل عدد حالات الشفاء في دولة قطر إلى 1534 حالة.

وذكرت الوزارة ، في بيان لها، أن أغلبية الحالات الجديدة تعود لأشخاص من العمالة الوافدة من مناطق مختلفة كانوا قد أصيبوا بالفيروس نتيجة مخالطتهم لأفراد تم اكتشاف إصابتهم سابقا بفضل الفحوصات الاستقصائية التي تقوم بها وزارة الصحة العامة.

وتعود باقي حالات الإصابة الأخرى لمواطنين ومقيمين ممن خالطوا مصابين بالفيروس من أفراد أسرهم والذين أصيبوا بدورهم في مكان العمل أو في أماكن أخرى.

وتم إدخال الحالات المؤكد إصابتها بالفيروس للعزل الصحي التام في مختلف المرافق الطبية بالدولة، حيث يتلقون العناية الصحية اللازمة حسب الوضع الصحي لكل حالة.

ونوهت وزارة الصحة العامة بأن الفترة الحالية ستشهد تذبذبا في أعداد حالات الإصابة بالفيروس بين ارتفاع وانخفاض، وذلك يرجع لعدة أسباب من بينها أن تفشي الفيروس يعتبر في مرحلة الذروة قبل أن تبدأ أعداد الإصابات بالنزول تدريجيا.

كما ضاعفت الوزارة في الآونة الأخيرة جهود تتبع السلاسل الانتقالية للفيروس وتوسيع دائرة البحث عن المصابين عبر إجراء فحوصات مكثفة واستباقية لأعداد كبيرة من المخالطين للأشخاص الذين تم التأكد من إصابتهم بالمرض مؤخرا.

وأفادت وزارة الصحة العامة بأن عدد الفحوصات اليومية التي تجريها على الأشخاص تعتمد في الأساس على عدد المخالطين للأفراد المؤكد إصابتهم بالفيروس، كما أنها تقوم بفحوصات عشوائية في أماكن مختلفة من البلاد كإجراء استباقي، حيث أن عدد الفحوصات التي يتم إجراؤها يوميا لا يرتبط شرطا بعدد الحالات المكتشفة من ناحية الارتفاع أو الانخفاض.

وأشارت إلى أن كثيرا من الحالات المصابة بفيروس (كوفيد-19) لا تظهر عليها أعراض المرض، حيث يتم اكتشاف إصابتها بالفيروس بفضل الفحوصات المبكرة التي تجريها فرق الوزارة المتخصصة وذلك زيادة في الحرص على اكتشاف الإصابات قبل أن ينشروا الفيروس إلى الآخرين خاصة بين الأفراد الذين خالطوا حالات مصابة.

كما أن نسبة كبيرة من الحالات المكتشفة تكون حدة المرض لديهم خفيفة ولا تستدعي أي تدخل طبي، ولكن يتم عزلها عن المجتمع حتى تكون تحت المراقبة الطبية المستمرة وحتى تقلل من احتمال انتقال الفيروس إلى الآخرين، علما بأن المرض قد يكون شديدا لدى لكبار في السن وكذلك المصابين بأمراض مزمنة.

وشددت وزارة الصحة العامة على أهمية التزام أفراد المجتمع بالإجراءات والتدابير الوقائية لحماية أنفسهم من عدوى الفيروس وضرورة البقاء في المنزل وعدم الخروج إلا في حالات الضرورة والمحافظة على البعد الاجتماعي والمسافة الآمنة من الآخرين بما في ذلك في مكان العمل والأماكن العامة واستخدام الكمام الطبي وتجنب الزيارات الاجتماعية للتقليل من احتمال الإصابة بالفيروس.
