Qatar adopting collective approach in combating COVID-19: Minister of Health

The State of Qatar participated yesterday in the meeting held by the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean around the latest developments of coronavirus (COVID-19), through remote communication technologies. Minister of Public Health, H E Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari represented the State of Qatar in the meeting.
The meeting discussed the countries’ plans and precautionary measures adopted to prevent spread of COVID-19, as well as the repercussions of the virus outbreak in the region and the world, in addition to the main strategic measures required to enhance the coordination of the efforts of countries in the region.
H E Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari emphasised, that the State of Qatar is adopting a collective approach in combating COVID-19, with combining all of the governmental and civil efforts in a significant cooperation with WHO.
Her Excellency clarified the great importance for diagnoses and early intervention to curb an outbreak of the disease. She also emphasised the importance of enhancing international cooperation to ensure decreasing the impact of COVID-19 on the most affected countries with this global pandemic, as well as on the countries those suffer from weakness in their health systems.
The meeting saw a discussion session around the support that can be provided by the countries to facilitate the WHO efforts and the countries in need in The Eastern Mediterranean region.

قطر تشارك في الاجتماع الإقليمي لمنظمة الصحة العالمية لمناقشة مستجدات فيروس كورونا
شاركت دولة قطر اليوم، في الاجتماع الذي عقده المكتب الإقليمي لشرق المتوسط بمنظمة الصحة العالمية حول مستجدات فيروس كورونا /كوفيد- 19/ وذلك من خلال تقنيات الاتصال عن بعد.
مثل دولة قطر في الاجتماع سعادة الدكتورة حنان محمد الكواري وزيرة الصحة العامة.
وتم خلال الاجتماع مناقشة خطط الدول والإجراءات الاحترازية والوقائية المتبعة للحماية من /كوفيد- 19/، وتداعيات تفشي الفيروس في دول الإقليم والعالم، إضافة إلى الإجراءات الاستراتيجية الرئيسية المطلوبة لزيادة تنسيق الجهود الجماعية لدول الإقليم.
وأكدت سعادة الدكتورة حنان محمد الكواري أن دولة قطر تنتهج نهجاً جماعياً في التصدي لفيروس /كوفيد- 19/ بتضافر كافة الجهود الحكومية والأهلية، وبتعاون مميز مع منظمة الصحة العالمية.
كما أوضحت سعادتها الأهمية الكبيرة للتشخيص والتدخل المبكرين للحد من انتشار المرض.
وأكدت على أهمية تعزيز التعاون الدولي بما يضمن التقليل من آثار /كوفيد- 19/ الكبيرة خصوصاً لدى الدول المتأثرة بشدة بهذا الوباء العالمي، وكذلك لدى الدول التي تعاني من ضعف أنظمتها الصحية.
يذكر أن الاجتماع شهد جلسة مناقشات حول الدعم الذي يمكن أن تقدمه البلدان لتيسير جهود منظمة الصحة العالمية والدول المحتاجة في إقليم شرق المتوسط.
