MoPH reports two more deaths from Covid-19; 687 new cases

The Peninsula Online – Doha: 

Ministry of Public Health today announces 687 confirmed new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), and 64 recovery from the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered cases in Qatar to 1,436. In addition, the Ministry announces that 2 people had died from the virus in the last 24 hours.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar till now stands at 14096 and there are 12648 active cases under treatment. So far, 10 people died from the coronavirus in Qatar. Ministry conducted 3226 tests in last 24 hours taking the total tests done so far to 97726 tests.

The Ministry explaines that most of the new cases are due to people from expatriate workers who have been infected with the virus as a result of contact with individuals who have been previously infected.

The remainder of new cases infected with the virus have come from citizens and residents who have contracted the virus from members of their families, who in turn had contracted the virus through their workplaces or other places where they had been to exposed to infected people.

All the new infected cases have been quarantined where they are receiving the necessary medical care. The Ministry of Public Health stated that most of the COVID-19 cases are experiencing only mild symptoms.

The Ministry states that the two new deaths were of residents – a 96 year old and a 40 year old patient. Both patients were receiving intensive care and both suffered from chronic diseases. The Ministry of Public Health offered its sincere condolences and great sympathy to the families of the patients that have died.

The Ministry of Public Health stresses that over the current period the number of positive cases is expected to fluctuate for several reasons, including the fact that the outbreak of the virus is considered to be entering into the peak stage, after which the number of infections will begin to decrease gradually.

This is in addition to the fact that the Ministry has further stepped up its efforts in tracking coronavirus transmission chains and expanded the search for infected people by conducting extensive and proactive tests of groups of contacts with people who have been confirmed with the disease previously. The number of tests carried out will always depend on the number of contacts a positive patient has had which therefore has an impact on the number of positive cases reported daily.

Also, many of the recorded cases experience mild symptoms and do not require any medical intervention, but are quarantined and given access to medical care and support. However, it is important to continue to remember that COVID-19 can be severe for the elderly as well as those with chronic diseases.

The Ministry of Public Health calls on all members of society to stay at home and not go out except in cases of necessity and to implement preventive measures and maintain physical distancing, including in the workplace and public places. The Ministry reminds people to use a face mask as recommended and avoid social visits to reduce their risk of contracting the virus.

أعلنت وزارة الصحة العامة، اليوم، عن تسجيل 687 حالة إصابة جديدة مؤكدة بفيروس كورونا (كوفيد – 19)، وتعافي 64 من المرض، وذلك خلال الـ24 ساعة الماضية، ليصل العدد الإجمالي للحالات التي تماثلت للشفاء في دولة قطر إلى 1436 حالة، بالإضافة إلى تسجيل حالتي وفاة كانتا مصابتين بالفيروس.

وأوضحت الوزارة، في بيان لها، أن غالبية الحالات الجديدة تعود لأشخاص من العمالة الوافدة من مناطق مختلفة كانوا قد أصيبوا بالفيروس نتيجة مخالطتهم لأفراد تم اكتشاف إصابتهم سابقا بفضل الفحوصات الاستقصائية التي تقوم بها وزارة الصحة العامة، فيما تعود باقي حالات الإصابة الأخرى لمواطنين ومقيمين ممن خالطوا مصابين بالفيروس من أفراد أسرهم والذين أصيبوا بدورهم في مكان العمل أو في أماكن أخرى.

وتم إدخال الحالات المؤكدة إصابتها بالفيروس للعزل الصحي التام في مختلف المرافق الطبية بالدولة، حيث يتلقون العناية الصحية اللازمة حسب الوضع الصحي لكل حالة.

وأفادت الوزارة بأن حالتي الوفاة الجديدتين تعودان لمقيمين يبلغ الأول من العمر 96 عاما والثاني يبلغ من العمر 40 عاما، وكانا يتلقيان الرعاية الطبية اللازمة في العناية المركزة، علماً بأنهما كانا يعانيان من أمراض مزمنة.. وتتقدم وزارة الصحة العامة بخالص العزاء وعظيم المواساة لأسرتي الفقيدين.

ونوهت وزارة الصحة العامة بأن الفترة الحالية ستشهد تذبذبا في أعداد حالات الإصابة بالفيروس بين ارتفاع وانخفاض وذلك يرجع لعدة أسباب من بينها أن تفشي الفيروس يعتبر في مرحلة الذروة قبل أن تبدأ أعداد الإصابات تقل تدريجيا، كما ضاعفت الوزارة في الآونة الأخيرة جهود تتبع السلاسل الانتقالية للفيروس وتوسيع دائرة البحث عن المصابين عبر إجراء فحوصات مكثفة واستباقية لأعداد كبيرة من المخالطين للأشخاص الذين تم التأكد من إصابتهم بالمرض سابقا.

وذكرت وزارة الصحة العامة أن عدد الفحوصات اليومية التي تجريها على الأشخاص تعتمد في الأساس على عدد المخالطين للأشخاص المؤكدة إصابتهم بالفيروس، كما أنها تقوم بفحوصات عشوائية في أماكن مختلفة من البلاد كإجراء استباقي، حيث أن عدد الفحوصات التي يتم إجراؤها لا يرتبط شرطا بعدد الحالات المكتشفة من ناحية الارتفاع أو الانخفاض.

وأشارت الوزارة إلى أن كثيرا من الحالات المصابة بفيروس (كوفيد – 19) لا تظهر عليها أعراض المرض، حيث يتم اكتشاف إصابتها بالفيروس بفضل الفحوصات المبكرة التي تجريها فرق الوزارة المتخصصة وذلك زيادةً في الحرص على اكتشاف الإصابات قبل أن ينشر أصحابها المرض خاصة بين الأفراد الذين خالطوا حالات مؤكد إصابتها.

كما أن نسبة كبيرة من الحالات المسجلة تكون حدة المرض لديها خفيفة ولا تستدعي أي تدخل طبي، ولكن يتم عزلها صحيا حتى تكون تحت المراقبة الطبية المستمرة. علماً بأن المرض قد يكون شديداً لدى كبار في السن وكذلك المصابين بأمراض مزمنة.

وشددت وزارة الصحة العامة على أهمية التزام أفراد المجتمع بالإجراءات والتدابير الوقائية لحماية أنفسهم من عدوى الفيروس وضرورة البقاء في المنزل وعدم الخروج إلا في حالات الضرورة والمحافظة على التباعد الاجتماعي والمسافة الآمنة من الآخرين بما في ذلك في مكان العمل والأماكن العامة واستخدام الكمامات الطبية وتجنب الزيارات الاجتماعية للتقليل من احتمال الإصابة بالفيروس.
