Iron barriers to prevent pedestrians from crossing Salwa Road

Doha: The Public Works Authority “Ashghal” has completed most of the works related to installing iron barriers on Salwa Road from Al Midmac Bridge to Al Sinaiyah Bridge, to limit pedestrians crossing the road and moving between the two banks to preserve pedestrians’ and motorists’ safety. The reason for which is that many pedestrians do not adhere to traffic safety measures, Since the entire road is not dedicated to pedestrian crossing because of its dangerous predictability.

The concerned authorities plan to reduce the number of traffic accidents, including run-over incidents To achieve the goals of the traffic safety strategy 2013-2022, which aims to provide more pedestrian crossings, and create more fences in main streets and highways; to prevent random crossings, plan pedestrian paths, and put traffic lights on Intersections, as well as ground deflectors, in addition to increasing the area of ​​sidewalks in the roads crowded with pedestrians.

وتهدف خطة الجهات المعنية لخفض عدد وفيات الحوادث المرورية ومنها حوادث الدهس لتحقيق أهداف إستراتيجية السلامة المرورية 2013-2022 إلى توفير المزيد من معابر المُشاة، وإنشاء المزيد من الأسيجة الفاصلة في الشوارع الرئيسية والطرق السريعة، لمنع العبور العشوائي، وتخطيط ممرات المشاة، ووضع الإشارات الضوئية على التقاطعات، وكذلك العواكس الأرضية بالإضافة إلى زيادة زيادة مساحة الأرصفة في الطرق المُزدحمة بالمشاة.
