Qatar’s Land Transport Sector Registers Over 1,600 Transactions in Q2

Doha: Land transport has become a vital factor in empowering Qatar’s economy and a fundamental pillar of its growth. The land transport sector continues to exert efforts in developing a state-of-the-art transportation network in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030.

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) announced that it carried out 1,662 transactions through its Land Transport Sector in the second quarter of this year, according to a tweet by the ministry.

Out of the total 1,662 transactions, 711 were related to land transport planning, 572 were land transport licensing, and 379 transactions were related to road affairs. The primary services provided by the land transport sector include detecting road defects, ensuring road safety, installing directional signs, processing building permit requests, conducting traffic impact studies, and handling rural access road requests.

These services also encompass issuing preliminary approvals for activities such as limousine businesses, land transport activities, and car rental businesses. The land sector conducted a total of 2,748 transactions in the first quarter of 2023. Transactions related to road affairs amounted to 463, while transactions related to land transport planning reached 853. Land transport licensing transactions totaled 1,432.

The land transport planning division of the land transport sector establishes the general planning policy for land and railway transport activities. It conducts the necessary studies and design plans, as well as coordinates the construction and development of land and railway transport networks with the relevant authorities in Qatar.
