HMC calls on public to become organ donors
مؤسسة حمد الطبية تدعو العامة إلى أن يصبحوا جهات مانحة للأعضاء
Doha: Public here are asked to consider giving the gift-of-life and registering to become an organ donor as part of Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) annual organ donation campaign, which was launched this week at shopping malls and other prominent locations around the country.
There are more than 345,000 people in Qatar’s organ donor registry, which is more than 12 percent of Qatar’s total population and it is hoped that this number will increase to 400,000 by the end of the year.
As part of the annual Ramadan campaign, information booths staffed by Qatar Organ Donation Center (Hiba) representatives are providing members of the public with information about becoming a registered organ donor, including the process involved and the benefits.
Dr Riadh Fadhil, Director of the Qatar Organ Donation Center at HMC, said the main objective of the annual event is to increase awareness within the community about organ donation and to help correct misconceptions.
“In Qatar, we have kidney, liver, stem cell, and cornea transplantation programs, and transplant surgeries are performed by a team of highly skilled professionals. We have state-of-the-art facilities and provide safe and compassionate care,” said Dr Fadhil.
An organ transplant can be a life-saving procedure and can significantly improve the quality of life for someone with chronic organ failure. These life-saving organs come from deceased donors who have pledged during their lifetime to give their organs to someone in need. A deceased organ donor can save up to eight lives. “It is also possible to donate a kidney or part of the liver to a relative while you are alive. Under the Doha Donation Accord, we make sure we look after donors and their families. For living donors, we provide health insurance for life, as well as covering any loss of income due to working days missed during the operation and recovery. We also honor our donors for giving this precious gift during an annual ceremony organized especially for this purpose. Each donor receives a medal in recognition of their selfless gift,” said Dr Fadhil.
Dr Fadhil added that Qatar aims to become self-sufficient in organ donation and noted this can’t be achieved without widespread community support, underscoring the significance of the annual Ramadan campaign in helping to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation.
Dr Asma Al Abdulghani, Director of HMC’s Organ Donation Campaign, said her team has briefed more than 500 staff members who will be directly involved in the campaign. HMC is asking the public to visit one of the organ donation booths at all popular malls which will be staffed each evening during Ramadan between 7pm and 11pm and during the Eid holidays from 5pm to 9pm
مركز التبرع بالأعضاء يسعى لزيادة عدد المسجلين في برنامج التبرع إلى 400 ألف
دعت مؤسسة حمد الطبية أفراد المجتمع إلى المشاركة في حملتها السنوية للتبرع بالأعضاء والتي أطلقت فعالياتها هذا الأسبوع وتهدف إلى تشجيع الجمهور على التسجيل في برنامج التبرع بالأعضاء والمساهمة في إنقاذ حياة الكثير من المرضى.
ويتواجد ممثلون عن مركز قطر للتبرع بالأعضاء (هبة) في منصات الحملة الموزعة على عدد من المجمعات التجارية ومراكز التسوق والأماكن العامة الرئيسية في مختلف أنحاء الدولة للتوعية بأهمية التبرع بالأعضاء ودورها في إنقاذ حياة المرضى الذين هم بحاجة ماسة لعمليات زراعة الأعضاء.
كما يقوم موظفو المركز بتقديم كل المعلومات اللازمة للأشخاص الراغبين في التسجيل في سجلات التبرع بالأعضاء وشرح كافة الإجراءات والفوائد المترتبة على التسجيل في البرنامج بالإضافة إلى الإجابة عن كافة أسئلة واستفسارات زوار الحملة حول زراعة الأعضاء.
ويشار الى انه يوجد حاليا أكثر من 345 ألف شخص مسجلين في سجل التبرع بالأعضاء في قطر في حين يسعى مركز التبرع بالأعضاء إلى زيادة عدد المسجلين إلى 400 ألف متبرع بنهاية هذا العام.
وقال الدكتور رياض فاضل مدير مركز قطر للتبرع بالأعضاء ان الهدف الرئيسي للحملة يتمثل في توعية وإرشاد الجمهور حول أهمية التبرع بالأعضاء وتصحيح بعض المفاهيم المغلوطة السائدة في المجتمع حول مسألة التبرع بالأعضاء.
واشار الى أن قطر لديها برامج لزراعة الكلى والكبد والخلايا الجذعية والقرنية وتقوم بإجراء عمليات الزراعة فرق جراحية عالية التخصص والكفاءة كما تتوفر أحدث التجهيزات والمرافق الطبية التي تساعد في تقديم رعاية عالية المستوى للمرضى.
ويساعد التبرع بالأعضاء وعمليات زراعة الأعضاء في إنقاذ حياة الكثير من المرضى الذين يعانون من فشل مزمن في أحد أعضاء الجسم حيث تمنحهم عمليات زراعة الأعضاء الفرصة في ممارسة حياتهم الطبيعية.
ويحصل المرضى على الأعضاء التي هم في أمس الحاجة اليها من أشخاص مسجلين للتبرع بالأعضاء بعد الوفاة حيث يكون التبرع بالأعضاء بعد الوفاة من خلال قيام الشخص أثناء حياته بالتسجيل في سجلات التبرع بالأعضاء والتعهد بالسماح بالاستفادة من أعضائه بعد وفاته في عمليات زراعة الأعضاء.. ويمكن لمتبرع واحد المساهمة في إنقاذ حياة ثمانية مرضى من خلال التبرع بهذه الطريقة.
واشار الدكتور رياض فاضل الى انه امكانية التبرع بالأعضاء أثناء الحياة حيث يمكن للمتبرع في حال كانت حالته الصحية مناسبة للتبرع وتطابقت أنسجته مع المريض أن يتبرع بإحدى كليتيه أو بجزء من الكبد لأحد أقربائه من المرضى.
واوضح انه بموجب إعلان الدوحة للتبرع بالأعضاء تقوم مؤسسة حمد الطبية بالتأكد من تقديم عناية خاصة للمتبرعين وأفراد أسرهم حيث يتمتع المتبرعون بالأعضاء الأحياء بتأمين صحي مدى الحياة في مرافق مؤسسة حمد الطبية بالإضافة إلى التعويض عن أي أجور عمل يفقدها المتبرع أثناء وجوده في المستشفى لإجراء الجراحة وأثناء فترة التعافي بعد التبرع.
