Capacity of screening centres exceeds 2,000 visitors weekly

Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has announced the expansion of its existing screening suite at Rawdat Al Khail Health Centre.

With this strategic expansion, the total capacity for all the screening centres gets enhanced to 2,000 visitors weekly.

Rawdat Al Khail meets the high demand of the central area, highly populated by both Qataris and residents. It covers a big central area of Doha including Fereej Abdul Aziz, Fereej Bin Mahmoud, Najma, Al Mansoura, Al Muntazah and other nearby areas.

With this expansion, the screening suite in Rawdat Al Khail Health Centre now has a higher capacity that reaches 180 visitors per day with more nurses rooms, screening rooms and follow-up rooms, in addition to separate male and female entrances and waiting areas.

Dr Mariam Abdulmalik, managing director of PHCC, said, “Through Screen for Life programme, PHCC has been successfully creating awareness among people on the timely screening of breast and bowel cancer. Our strategic expansion initiative has been fast gaining momentum, which started with Leabaib Health Center and now it has extended to Rawdat Al Khail Health Center as well.”

“Screen for Life will keep educating the masses and providing high quality screening services. We continue to achieve the objectives of the national cancer strategy and the national cancer framework and root out the instances of breast and bowel cancer as we strongly entrust on the philosophy of prevention is better than cure,” added Dr Abdulmalik.

Dr Shaikha Abu Shaikha, manager of screening programmes at PHCC, said, “This expansion would further strengthen our objective of reaching out to a larger number of people by inviting them for screening through our dedicated call center and receiving them in our spa-like newly expanded suites with complete privacy, comfort and ease.”

With the benefit of the expanded space, breast cancer screening at Rawdat Al Khail Health Centre for women between 45 and 69 years will now take less than 20 minutes for each appointment. Besides this, a second mammogram room is added doubling the capacity of the screening suite to reach 90 participants per day and 450 participants per week.

As for bowel screening, the total capacity per day will be close to 96 participants and 480 per week. The appointments are even shorter than those in breast screening clinics since the participant will take the screening kit home where they will do the FIT test. The bowel screening centre will also have two assessment clinics for both men and women with specific opening hours.

The clinic has well-trained staff, receptionists, nurses, mammogram technicians and radiologists. Together they will make sure the screening flow is completed smoothly and participants’ inquiries -if any- are answered fully. The staff speaks different languages including Arabic, English, Indian and Tagalog.

Participants are requested to call the dedicated number 800 1112 to book appointments and they are required to arrive 30 minutes ahead of their appointment. Walk-ins are also welcomed.

كشفت مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية، عن توسعة جناح الكشف المبكر عن سرطان الثدي والأمعاء في مركز روضة الخيل الصحي، الذي بدأ عملياته رسمياً اعتباراً من 9 مايو الحالي.

وتأتي هذه الخطوة بعد تنفيذ استراتيجية التوسع الناجحة في مركز لعبيب الصحي.

وساهمت هذه التوسعة الاستراتيجية في تعزيز القدرة الاستيعابية الإجمالية لجميع العيادات الثلاث لتصل إلى 2000 زائر أسبوعياً.

وقالت الدكتورة مريم عبدالملك، مدير عام مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية: «تتميز مبادرة التوسع الاستراتيجي التي قمنا بإطلاقها بالسرعة والديناميكية، حيث بدأت المبادرة من مركز لعبيب الصحي، لتشمل الآن مركز روضة الخيل الصحي أيضاً. ولم يكن تحقيق هذا النجاح ممكناً لولا اهتمام الناس الشديد والتزامهم بالتواصل معنا، وبسبب إدراكهم أهمية الكشف المبكر. وبفضل هذه التوسعة، يمكننا الوصول إلى عدد أكبر من الأشخاص على أساس يومي، مع وصول القدرة الاستيعابية إلى 180 زائراً يومياً».

وقالت الدكتورة شيخة أبو شيخة، مدير برامج الكشف المبكر في مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية: «انطلاقاً من مركز لعبيب الصحي، ووصولاً لزيادة القدرة الاستيعابية لمركز روضة الخيل الصحي، قطع برنامج الكشف المبكر لحياة صحية شوطاً طويلاً على صعيد تحقيق رؤيته المتمثلة بالوصول إلى جميع السكان في دولة قطر، من أجل توعيتهم بأهمية الكشف المبكر».

وبفضل المساحة الأكبر، لا تتطلب خدمات الكشف المبكر عن سرطان الثدي في مركز روضة الخيل الصحي المقدمة للسيدات اللواتي تتراوح أعمارهن بين 45-69 عاماً أكثر من 20 دقيقة لكل عملية كشف.
