Minister of Public Health wins Leadership Award in healthcare
وزيرة الصحة العامة تفوز بجائزة القيادة الرائدة في مجال الرعاية الصحية
DOHA: H E Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health, has been awarded the Pioneer Leadership Award in Healthcare for 2019 by the Arab Hospitals Federation during its 21st annual forum.
Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has won the Distinguished Arab Healthcare Organization Award for 2019 at the forum.
A delegation of senior officials from the Ministry of Public Health and HMC is in Kuwait for the 21st Annual Forum of the Arab Hospitals Federation. The two-day conference, which began today, is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Dr Basel Hamoud Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Minister of Health.
Ali Abdullah Al Khater, Chair of the Ministry of Public Health’s Healthcare Communications Committee and Chief Communications Officer at HMC is chairing the Qatar delegation and said the annual event brings together hundreds of senior healthcare leaders from across the region to discuss the most pressing issues facing the health sector.
“HMC’s participation in high-level meetings like the 21st Annual Forum of the Arab Hospitals Federation is part of our commitment to ensuring we are able to meet both the evolving healthcare needs of our growing population and our nation’s ambition to be one of the best health systems in the world. Qatar has created an infrastructure of healthcare services that are recognised as being on par with the best international standards. Gatherings like this conference ensure we remain abreast of the latest developments, the most cutting-edge techniques, and emerging issues and challenges facing the healthcare sector,” said Al Khater.
Earlier this year Qatar was ranked 5th in the world for health by the Legatum Institute, a London-based think tank. Qatar is the only country in the region to score in the top five on the annual prosperity index and the country’s healthcare spending is among the highest in the Middle East.
Mohamad Mubarak Al Noimi, Chief of Staff for the Office of the Minister of Public Health and a member of the Executive Board of the Arab Hospitals Federation was awarded an Arab Hospitals Federation Golden Medal during the event in recognition of his contribution to the success of the Arab Hospitals Federation. He said Qatar’s reputation for providing safe, effective, high-quality care is recognized across the region. He noted Qatar’s health sector has much to share and celebrate and has a responsibility to impart its knowledge and experience with the objective of helping to improve the region’s health systems.
Senior officials from HMC will lead two sessions during the event’s scientific program – one on building an accountability framework for healthcare institutions and a second on the use of technology in healthcare.
Mr. Nasser Al Naimi, HMC’s Deputy Chief of Quality, Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement and Director of the Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute presented on the dimensions of an accountability framework for healthcare institutions, and specifically on enhancing transparency and accountability to promote high-quality, safe patient care.
Dr Khalid Al Jalham, Director of HMC’s Ambulatory Care Center and Senior Consultant in Urology Surgery, will lead a session on the impact healthcare technology is having on improving the quality of patient care. Dr Al Jalham said new medical technologies are transforming how and where care is delivered, with a vast number of acute and secondary procedures now being safely performed in outpatient facilities.
The two-day annual Forum will coincide with an exhibition which will provide an integrated platform to share the latest discoveries and techniques in various medical specialties. Both the Ministry of Public Health and HMC will participate in the exhibition, which is expected to attract clinicians, distributors, manufacturers and healthcare service agencies from the Arab states.

فازت مؤسسة حمد الطبية بجائزة مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية المتميزة في العالم العربي لعام 2019، المقدمة من اتحاد المستشفيات العربية، وذلك خلال أعمال الملتقى السنوي الحادي والعشرين لاتحاد المستشفيات العربية الذي بدأ أعماله في الكويت أمس، بمشاركة ممثلين عن وزارة الصحة العامة ومؤسسة حمد الطبية.
كما كرّم اتحاد المستشفيات العربية سعادة الدكتورة حنان محمد الكواري وزيرة الصحة العامة، بمنحها جائزة القيادة الرائدة في مجال الرعاية الصحية لعام 2019.
وقال السيد علي عبدالله الخاطر -رئيس لجنة الاتصال العليا للرعاية الصحية بوزارة الصحة العامة، والرئيس التنفيذي للاتصال المؤسسي بمؤسسة حمد الطبية، الذي يترأس الوفد القطري المشارك في الملتقى- إن هذا الحدث يجمع كل عام المئات من كبار قادة قطاع الرعاية الصحية في المنطقة؛ لمناقشة القضايا الأكثر إلحاحاً التي تواجه القطاع الصحي.
وأضاف أن مشاركة مؤسسة حمد الطبية في لقاءات رفيعة المستوى، مثل الملتقى السنوي الحادي والعشرين لاتحاد المستشفيات العربية، هو جزء من التزامها بضمان قدرتها على تلبية الاحتياجات المتنامية للسكان من خدمات الرعاية الصحية، وتحقيق طموحاتها في أن تصبح أحد أفضل أنظمة الرعاية الصحية في العالم.
ولفت إلى أن قطر أنشأت بنية تحتية لخدمات الرعاية الصحية تضاهي أفضل المعايير العالمية، ولذلك تسهم مثل هذه الملتقيات في ضمان مواكبة آخر التطورات وأحدث التقنيات والتعرف على سبل مواجهة القضايا والتحديات الناشئة التي تواجه قطاع الرعاية الصحية.
يُشار إلى أن دولة قطر حصلت في مطلع العام الحالي على المرتبة الخامسة عالمياً في مجال الصحة وفقاً لتصنيف معهد ليجاتوم، وهو مؤسسة بحثية يقع مقرها في لندن.
وتُعدّ قطر هي الدولة الوحيدة في المنطقة التي تحصل على مركز ضمن المراكز الخمسة الأولى بحسب المؤشر السنوي للدول المزدهرة لمعهد ليجاتوم، كما أن حجم إنفاق دولة قطر على قطاع الرعاية الصحية يُعدّ من بين الأعلى في منطقة الشرق الأوسط.
كما كُرّم خلال الملتقى السيد محمد مبارك النعيمي مدير مكتب سعادة وزير الصحة العامة وعضو الهيئة التنفيذية لاتحاد المستشفيات العربية، بحصوله على الميدالية الذهبية للاتحاد؛ تقديراً لمساهمته في دعم مسيرة الاتحاد.
