Doha: Volunteer registration for Expo 2023 Doha, the second-largest event to be hosted by Qatar, is set to open in a fortnight, according to a statement by a high-ranking official.
Expo 2023 Doha Secretary General, Engr. Mohammed Mohammed Ali Al Khouri, told The Peninsula that they aim to recruit between 3,000 and 4,000 volunteers for the half-year-long event, which is scheduled to commence in October and run until March 2024.
Al Khouri emphasised that the registration process will commence in the coming two weeks, followed by careful screening of applications.
The official announcement regarding the application procedure will be made through the event’s official website and social media platforms.
As the first horticultural exhibition held in a desert climate, Expo 2023 Doha will encourage innovative approaches to horticulture, with a particular focus on climate, water, and soil sustainability. With one-third of the world’s land surface threatened by desertification and an additional 12 million hectares of arid land emerging each year, desertification has become a pressing global issue.
Spanning a massive 1,700,000 sqm. within Al Bidda Park, Expo 2023 Doha will be divided into three distinct areas where volunteers will be assigned.
The international area, located in the northern part of the park, will serve as the gateway to the expo and the main hub for international gardens, exhibitions, and events, covering an approximate area of 700,000sqm. The family area, occupying a central position within the park, will provide a focal point for family-oriented activities, gatherings, and outdoor pursuits, encompassing an estimated area of 500,000sqm. Finally, the cultural area, located in the southern zone, will serve as a venue for cultural and traditional activities, and exhibitions, and covers a space of approximately 500,000sqm.
Expo 2023 Doha represents a crucial milestone in the progressive development outlined in the “Qatar National Vision 2030.” Highlighting sustainability across its four development pillars: economic, social, human, and environmental.
Anticipated to attract an impressive three million attendees from around the globe, Expo 2023 Doha promises to be a six-month extravaganza that showcases Qatar’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.

صرح الأمين العام لإكسبو 2023 الدوحة، المهندس محمد محمد علي الخوري، لصحيفة “ذا بينينسولا” بأنهم يهدفون إلى استقطاب ما بين 3 آلاف و4 آلاف متطوع للحدث الذي سيستمر لمدة نصف عام، والذي من المقرر أن يبدأ في أكتوبر ويستمر حتى مارس 2024.
وأكد الخوري أن عملية التسجيل ستبدأ في الأسابيع القادمة، تليها فحص دقيق للتطبيقات.
وسيتم الإعلان الرسمي بشأن إجراءات التقديم من خلال الموقع الرسمي للحدث ومنصات التواصل الاجتماعي.
باعتباره أول معرض زراعي يقام في مناخ صحراوي، سيشجع إكسبو 2023 الدوحة النهج الابتكاري في الزراعة، مع التركيز بشكل خاص على الاستدامة في المناخ والمياه والتربة. مع تهديد ثلث سطح الأرض في العالم بالتصحر وظهور 12 مليون هكتار إضافي من الأراضي القاحلة كل عام، أصبح التصحر مشكلة عالمية ملحة.
سيمتد معرض إكسبو 2023 الدوحة على مساحة 1،700،000 متر مربع داخل حديقة البدع، وسيتم تقسيمه إلى ثلاث مناطق متميزة يتم تعيين المتطوعين فيها.
تقع المنطقة الدولية في الجزء الشمالي من الحديقة، وستكون بوابة المعرض والمركز الرئيسي للحدائق والمعارض والفعاليات الدولية، وتغطي مساحة تقريبية تبلغ 700،000 متر مربع. ستوفر المنطقة العائلية، التي تحتل موقعًا مركزيًا داخل الحديقة، نقطة تركيز للأنشطة العائلية والتجمعات والأنشطة في الهواء الطلق، وتشمل مساحة تقدر بـ 500،000 متر مربع. أما المنطقة الثقافية، فيقع في الجنوب، وستكون مكانًا للأنشطة الثقافية والتقليدية والمعارض، وتغطي مساحة تقدر بحوالي 500،000 متر مربع.
يمثل إكسبو 2023 الدوحة معلامة مهمة في التنمية التدريجية المخططة في “رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030”. حيث يسلط الضوء على الاستدامة عبر أربعة محاور للتنمية: الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والإنسانية والبيئية.
من المتوقع أن يجذب إكسبو 2023 الدوحة حوالي ثلاثة ملايين زائر من جميع أنحاء العالم، ويعد وعدًا بستة أشهر من العروض الاستعراضية التي تعرض التزام قطر بالاستدامة والابتكار.
