Minister of Public Health inaugurates central clinical laboratories at QRI

DOHA: H E Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health, inaugurated the new Central Clinical Laboratories (CCL) at the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute (QRI), recently.

The inauguration was held as part of a three-day exhibition and symposium.

The new fully automated central laboratory is part of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology’s (DLMP) continued transformation, which involves a commitment to standardized testing and the implementation of automated platforms.

“The DLMP performs more than 17 million tests each year and provides a comprehensive range of highly specialized laboratory services for the people of Qatar,” said Dr Al Kuwari. “The new state-of-the-art medical laboratory is purpose-built, designed, and equipped to the highest international standards. This new facility is enabling Hamad to meet the increasingly complex current and future healthcare needs of Qatar’s population.”

The DLMP not only serves the patients of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), with dedicated facilities at 14 sites, but also provides referral services to more than 135 customers across Qatar. This includes the military, police, embassies, international schools, banks, private hospitals, and national and multinational companies. The new central clinical laboratories at HMC are the first in the region to have a fully automated, computer-based laboratory information system.

Dr Ajayeb Al Nabet, DLMP Chairperson, said the wide range of services provided by the Department across 27 different sections collectively serves as Qatar’s National Laboratory, performing both sophisticated and esoteric (or niche) tests, in addition to a broad range of routine laboratory tests.

“Time is of the essence, especially when you have a critically ill patient. The new labs will deliver test results quickly to physicians and our clients, enabling them to initiate the proper course of treatment for patients. Timely, accurate results and high-quality services are assured to the patients of HMC,” added Dr Al Nabet.

This year the DLMP received reaccreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP). The international body provides the world’s most recognized laboratory accreditation program, which is considered the global gold standard for laboratory management. The Department has also achieved recognition as a National Influenza Center by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The opening of the new laboratories coincided with the Sixth Annual Lab Day celebrations, which highlighted the role the lab team plays in delivering the highest quality patient care. This included a public exhibition held in the lobby of the Women’s Wellness and Research Center and the Ambulatory Care Center featuring the different sections within the Department and the wide expertise they offer.

افتتحت سعادة الدكتورة حنان محمد الكواري، وزيرة الصحة العامة، هذا الأسبوع، المختبرات الطبية المركزية الجديدة في مقرها بمركز قطر لإعادة التأهيل، وقد تضمن الافتتاح فعاليات استمرت 3 أيام واشتملت على إقامة معرض وندوات. ويأتي افتتاح المختبرات الطبية المركزية الجديدة استمراراً لرؤية إدارة المختبرات الطبية وعلوم الأمراض في مواصلة عملية التطوير، والتزامها بتوحيد الفحوصات وتنفيذها أوتوماتيكياً.

أكدت سعادة الدكتورة حنان محمد الكواري، وزيرة الصحة العامة، أن إدارة المختبرات الطبية تجري أكثر من 17 مليون فحص مخبري سنوياً، وتقدم خدمات شاملة ومتخصصة بكفاءة عالية للسكان في قطر، مضيفة سعادتها أن المختبرات الطبية الجديدة تمتاز بتقنيتها العالية وتصميمها الذي تم تجهيزه على شكل مبنى متكامل يخدم الدور الذي يؤديه، بالإضافة إلى تزويدها بالأجهزة التي تندرج ضمن أعلى المقاييس الدولية، ما يتيح لمؤسسة حمد الطبية مواكبة حاجات الرعاية الصحية المتزايدة والمعقدة في وقتنا الحالي وفي المستقبل لسكان قطر.

ولا تقتصر خدمات إدارة المختبرات الطبية والأمراض على مراجعي مؤسسة حمد الطبية ضمن مرافقها التي تصل إلى 14 مرفقاً، بل تتسع لتشمل توفير الخدمات المخبرية لأكثر من 135 عميلاً في قطر، منها قطاعات الجيش والشرطة والسفارات والمدارس الدولية والبنوك والمستشفيات الخاصة والشركات الوطنية ومتعددة الجنسيات.

وقالت الدكتورة عجايب النابت رئيسة المختبرات الطبية بمؤسسة حمد الطبية، إن الخدمات واسعة النطاق التي تقدمها إدارة المختبرات تغطي 27 قسماً مختلفاً.

وتعد المختبرات الطبية المركزية الجديدة الأولى من نوعها في المنطقة، والتي تمتلك نظاماً آلياً متكاملاً مرتبطاً بالمعلوماتية.

وأضافت الدكتورة عجايب: «يعتبر عامل الوقت مهماً، خاصة عندما تكون حالة المريض حرجة. إن المختبرات الجديدة تساهم في إظهار النتائج بسرعة كبيرة لأطبائنا وعملائنا مما يتيح لهم تحديد المسار العلاجي الأمثل لمرضاهم، وضمان حصولهم على خدمات عالية الجودة لمرضى مؤسسة حمد الطبية».

وأضافت الدكتورة عجايب: «يشكل المعرض وسيلة مهمة للتركيز على العمل الذي يقوم به قسم المختبرات لتوفير رعاية متميزة للمريض وإظهار مستوى التقدم الذي وصل إليه قسم المختبرات، من حيث التكنولوجيا التي يوظفها والأنظمة العالمية التي يعمل من خلالها».;
