‘Screen For Life’ awareness campaign in full swing

DOHA: ‘Screen For Life’, Qatar’s National Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening Program, once again has a crucial vehicle to drive awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October with the dedicated mobile unit gearing up for a month of engaging activities.

Throughout the month-long campaign, the mobile unit is touring various public and private sector entities and communities. It will be engaging with women across Qatar, spreading awareness of breast cancer, the ‘Screen For Life’ objectives and offer complimentary on-site mammograms.

“The mobile unit has been instrumental in helping us spread awareness of ‘Screen For Life’ and its objectives, educate a wide audience on the importance of screening in the early detection of cancer and enable women who cannot easily access the facilities at the health centers,” said Dr Shaikha Abu Shaikha, Cancer Program Manager, PHCC.

The mobile unit is one of a number of outreach activities conducted by ‘Screen For Life’ under the tagline ‘Your life is precious – get screened’. Staffed by highly-qualified professional medical team including a nurse and a mammogram technician, the mobile unit offers mammograms with the same level of comfort and privacy women can expect from visiting one of the fixed facilities at Leabaib and Rawdat Al Khail Health Centers.

During October, a long list of visits was planned for the mobile screening unit that included Ras Gas Al Khor Community, Intercontinental The City and College of North Atlantic- Qatar for the third year in a row; in addition to Qatar Foundation, Aster Hospital, Qatar Petroleum –Dukhan, Aspire Academy and Aspetar North Expansion.

أكثر النساء قد يُفكرن بصحة الثدي، بعد سماع أخبار جديدة عن تشخيص سرطان الثدي، لذلك فإن التشخيص المبكر يبقى ضرورة ومفتاحاً مجدياً يؤدي إلى اكتشاف الإصابة بسرطان الثدي في مراحله الأولى من أجل علاجه بيسر وبصفة مبكرة تؤدي إلى تلافي مضاره.

بالملابس الوردية، والبالونات، والشعارات الوردية، قام مركز بريميم نسيم الربيع الطبي بحملة توعية خاصة لمكافحة سرطان الثدي، خصّ بها العاملين في المركز وزواره.

وكجزء من هذه الحملة، نظم مركز بريميم نسيم الربيع الطبي في 13 أكتوبر 2018 حِواراً عن أعراض سرطان الثدي، وأهمية الكشف المبكر عن المرض، وحضر الحوار كلّ من المدير التنفيذي السيد شانافاس، ورئيس التسويق السيد عاطف محمد، وبعض الأعضاء. وأشرف على هذا الحوار الدكتورة نعيمة وهراني استشارية النساء والتوليد، والدكتورة هنادي إبراهيم اختصاصية النساء والتوليد والعقم، وقدم كلّ منهما محاضرة مُحفزة عن «سرطان الثدي مضاره وطرق علاجه»، وشارك عدد كبير من النساء في هذه الحملة التي تلتها فقرة للأسئلة والأجوبة.;
