HMC performs six kidney and three liver transplant operations in October

DOHA: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has announced that six kidney and three liver transplant operations were performed at Hamad General Hospital (HGH) this month. The lifesaving organs were donated by three deceased donors.

Dr Yousuf Al Maslamani, (pictured)Director of the Qatar Center for Organ Transplantation and Medical Director of HGH, said all nine patients who received the organs are recovering well and are being monitored by the transplant teams as part of their follow-up care.

The liver was transplanted to three patients and the kidneys to six patients. The patients were of various nationalities, including Qatari, Asian and Arab nationalities. The organ recipients were between the ages of 21 and 61 years. The three deceased donors were of Asian nationalities. In addition to the transplant operations performed this month, this year surgical teams at the Qatar Center for Organ Transplantation successfully performed 21 kidney transplants and six liver transplants. Dr Al Maslamani said that Qatar’s organ donation and transplantation program is world-leading and has been recognized internationally for its focus on fairness and equality.

The surgical team that performed this month’s six kidney transplants was led by Dr Al Maslamani and included Professor Riadh Abdul Sattar Fadhil, Director of the Qatar Organ Donation Center, Professor Jonas Wadstrom, Dr Omar Issam Alani, Dr Salahuddin Abdul Latif, and Dr Baleegh Mansour. The liver transplant team was led by Professor Hatem Khalaf and included Dr Ahmed Elaffandi, Dr Walid Shehata, Dr Mohammed Naji El Masri, Dr Yasser Hammad, Dr Moutaz Derbala, Dr Yasser Medhat, Dr Muna Al Maslamani, Dr Mohammad Faisal Malmstrom, Dr Yolande Hanssens, Dr Mohamed Said Ghali and Dr Ibn Aouf Sulaiman.

The surgeries involved a collaboration between various HMC departments, including the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, led by Dr Ajayeb Al Nabet, the Nephrology Department, led by Dr Hassan Al Malki, the Gastroenterology Department, led by Dr Saad Al Kaabi, the Clinical Imaging Department, led by Dr Ahmed Omar, and the Department of Anesthesiology, led by Dr Marco Marcus.

The transplant teams were further supported by transplant coordinators and clinical teams involved in the patients’ evaluation, treatment, and follow-up care. This team included Abdel-Hadi Rushdi Abu Jeish, Rani John, Lou Andrew, Rossini Gayares Jovero, Mahmoud Saleh, Faten Jamal Almakableh, and Litty Mathew.

Since the Qatar Organ Donor Registry was launched in 2012, around 15 percent of the country’s adult population, have signed up to become an organ donor.

أُجريت بنجاح في مستشفى حمد العام خلال الشهر الحالي 6 عمليات لزراعة الكلى، و3 عمليات لزراعة الكبد، وقد تم الحصول على الكلى والكبد التي تمت زراعتها لـ 9 مرضى من 3 متبرعين بعد الوفاة، وقد غادر المرضى الذين أُجريت لهم زراعة الكلى والكبد المستشفى في صحة جيدة.

أكد الدكتور يوسف المسلماني -المدير الطبي لمستشفى حمد العام، ومدير مركز قطر لزراعة الأعضاء في مؤسسة حمد الطبية- أن جميع المرضى الذين أُجريت لهم تلك العمليات بصحة جيدة، وقد قام بإجراء العمليات فرق زراعة الكلى والكبد بمؤسسة حمد الطبية، مشيراً إلى أنه أُجريت منذ بداية العام الحالي وحتى اليوم 21 عملية زراعة كلى، بالإضافة إلى 6 عمليات زراعة كبد.

وأوضح د. المسلماني أن البرنامج القطري لزراعة ونقل الأعضاء يحقق نجاحات متميزة ومتتالية، ما أكسب البرنامج سمعة طيبة عالمياً، ويلتزم البرنامج ببنود اتفاقية الدوحة للتبرع بالأعضاء، كإطار عام لتطوير برنامج التبرع بالأعضاء، وبرنامج زراعة الأعضاء في قطر، معرباً عن أمله في زيادة عدد عمليات زراعة الأعضاء في المرحلة المقبلة.

وأجرى عمليات زراعة الكلى الـ 6، فريق جراحي برئاسة د. يوسف المسلماني، وضم كلاً من: د. جونس ودستروم، ود. رياض عبدالستار، ود. عمر عصام العاني، ود. صلاح الدين عبداللطيف، ود. بليغ منصور، أما فريق زراعة الكبد، فترأسه البروفيسور حاتم خلف، وضم الفريق كلاً من: د. أحمد الأفندي، ود. وليد شحاتة، ود. محمد ناجي المصري، ود. ياسر حماد، ود. معتز دربالة، ود. ياسر مدحت،

ود. منى المسلماني، ود. فيصل مالمستروم،

ود. يولاندي هانسنز، ود. محمد سعيد غالي، ود. ابن عوف سليمان.

وتساهم فرق طبية معاونة من مؤسسة حمد الطبية في التجهيز وإنجاح عمليات زراعة الأعضاء ومنها: إدارة المختبر بقيادة د. عجايب المري، وقسم أمراض الكلى بقيادة د. حسن المالكي، وقسم أمراض الكبد بقيادة د. سعد الكعبي، وإدارة التصوير الإكلينيكية بقيادة د. أحمد عمر، وإدارة التخدير والعناية المركزة بقيادة د. ماركوس، حيث تستلزم هذه العمليات التنسيق التام بين هذه الفرق.

وقام فريق منسقي زراعة الأعضاء المسؤولين عن متابعة حالات المتبرعين بالأعضاء بعد الوفاة بدور مهم في التنسيق اللازم لإجراء هذه الجراحات، وهم: عبدالهادي رشدي أبوجيش، وراني جون، ولو أندرو رينولا، بالإضافة إلى روسيني هوفيرو، ومحمود صالح منسقي زراعة الكبد، وفاتن المقابلة، ولتي ماثيو منسقي زراعة الكلى.;
