‘Nursing Now Qatar’: WISH & HMC aim to boost healthcare
«ويش» و«حمد الطبية» يجمعان قادة قطاع التمريض في الدولة
DOHA: The World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH), an initiative of Qatar Foundation (QF), and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) have partnered to hold the first board meeting of ‘Nursing Now Qatar.’ The initiative is part of a global campaign run in collaboration with the International Council of Nurses and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Nursing Now Qatar, which was launched earlier this year at the Middle East Forum for Quality and Safety in Healthcare, in Doha, supports the global ‘Nursing Now’ campaign. The overarching goal of the campaign is to improve healthcare globally by raising the profile and status of nurses worldwide; influencing policy-makers; and supporting nurses to lead, learn, and build a global movement.
The ‘Nursing Now Qatar’ board brings together senior representatives of HMC, WISH, Primary Health Care Corporation, QF member Sidra Medicine, Al Ahli Hospital and the University of Calgary in Qatar. During its inaugural meeting, which was held at the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute within Hamad bin Khalifa Medical City, board members received an update on the ‘Nursing Now’ global campaign, set terms of reference for ‘Nursing Now Qatar’, and set goals and timescales for initiatives and events to promote nursing in Qatar over the coming year.
Among those initiatives are public awareness campaigns, and a ‘Nursing Now’ empowerment training programme for Qatari nurses that will be delivered during Doha Healthcare Week, which will take place this November in the lead up to the WISH 2018 summit.
Sultana Afdhal, CEO, WISH, said, “We are delighted to co-organise the inaugural meeting of this important initiative, which is the first of its kind in the Arabian Gulf region.
“Our goal is to empower nurses in Qatar, and ultimately everywhere in the world, to take up more leadership roles, and we hope that a larger number of Qataris choose nursing as a profession in the future.”
Dr Nicola Ryley, Chief Nursing Officer, HMC, and Co-chair of the ‘Nursing Now Qatar’ Board, said, “Nurses and midwives have a long tradition of leading change across health services, demonstrating a passion for leadership and innovation to drive quality and performance improvements.
“While these abilities are increasingly recognized across Qatar’s health sector, we need a concerted effort to ensure greater inter-professional respect and collaboration. We have an amazing cadre of nursing and midwifery professionals working in Qatar, and the ‘Nursing Now’ campaign will help to harness their wide range of experiences and skills more effectively.”
WISH 2018, set to take place on November 13 and 14 at Qatar National Convention Centre, will include a focus on nursing. The summit will include panel discussions on nursing, host Chief Nursing Officers from around the world, and also host the global board meeting of ‘Nursing Now’ on its sidelines.
عقد مؤتمر القمة العالمي للابتكار في الرعاية الصحية (ويش) -مبادرة مؤسسة قطر- أول اجتماع لمجلس إدارة حملة «التمريض الآن» في قطر، وذلك بالشراكة مع مؤسسة حمد الطبية، التي تُنفّذ بالتعاون مع المجلس الدولي للممرضات ومنظمة الصحة العالمية.
عُقد الاجتماع في مركز قطر لإعادة التأهيل بمدينة حمد بن خليفة الطبية، حيث استُعرضت آخر التطورات حول حملة «التمريض الآن» العالمية، ونُوقشت الشروط المرجعية لحملة «التمريض الآن» في قطر وتحديدها، وأيضاً رُسمت الأهداف والجدول الزمني للمبادرات والفعاليات التي تساهم في تعزيز قطاع التمريض بقطر خلال العام المقبل.
وتضمنت هذه المبادرات إطلاق حملات توعية موجهة للجمهور، وبرامج تدريبية متخصصة للممرضين في قطر، من المقرر أن تُنفّذ خلال «أسبوع الدوحة للرعاية الصحية»، الذي سيُعقد في الأسبوع الذي يسبق مؤتمر «ويش» 2018 نوفمبر المقبل. ويضم مجلس إدارة الحملة ممثلين من مؤسسة حمد الطبية، ومؤتمر القمة العالمي للابتكار في الرعاية الصحية (ويش)، ومؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية، و»سدرة للطب»، والمستشفى الأهلي، وجامعة «كالجاري في قطر».
وعلّقت السيدة سلطانة أفضل -الرئيس التنفيذي لمبادرة «ويش»- بالقول: «يسعدنا أن نشارك في تنظيم الاجتماع الافتتاحي لهذه الحملة المهمة، التي تُعدّ الأولى من نوعها في منطقة الخليج العربي؛ فالعاملون في قطاع التمريض، والقابلات القانونيات، يشكلون نصف القوى العاملة الصحية المحترفة على مستوى العالم. ولكن، رغم ذلك، لا يجري تمكينهم أو دعمهم للاستفادة من خبراتهم وطاقاتهم الكاملة، وهو ما يمثّل هدراً مؤسفاً للمواهب والموارد». وأضافت: «هدفنا هو تمكين العاملين في قطاع التمريض بقطر، ومن بعدها في جميع أنحاء العالم، لمساعدتهم على تولّي مزيد من الأدوار القيادية،
كما نأمل أن تتجه أعداد أكبر من القطريين لاختيار التمريض مهنة للمستقبل».
ومن جهتها، صرّحت الدكتورة نيكولا ريلي -كبير مسؤولي التمريض بمؤسسة حمد الطبية، والرئيس المشارك في حملة «التمريض الآن» بقطر- قائلة: «إن العاملين في مجال التمريض، والقابلات القانونيات، يحملن إرثاً عريقاً في قيادة التغيير ضمن قطاع الخدمات الصحية؛ مما يدل على شغفهم بالقيادة والابتكار لتعزيز الجودة وتحسين الأداء.
وبينما يُعترف بهذه القدرات بشكل متزايد في القطاع الصحي بالدولة، فإننا لا نزال نحتاج إلى تضافر الجهود لضمان تحقيق أعلى درجات من التعاون والتقدير؛ فلدينا اليوم كادر متميز من الممرضين والقابلات المتخصصين العاملين في قطر.
وستساعد حملة (التمريض الآن) في قطر على الاستفادة من مجموعة واسعة من الخبرات والمهارات المتوافرة على نحو أكثر فعالية».;
