Hamad General Hospital Medical Director elected as V-P of MESOT
انتخاب طبيب قطري نائبا لرئيس جمعية الشرق الأوسط لزراعة الأعضاء
DOHA: Dr Yousuf Al Maslamani, Medical Director of Hamad General Hospital (HGH) and the Director of the Qatar Center for Organ Transplantation at HMC, has been elected the Vice-President of the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation (MESOT) for a two-year term (until 2020). Dr Al Maslamani’s election to the post was announced during the board meeting at the 16th Congress for the MESOT in Ankara.
Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health has congratulated Dr Al Maslamani on the appointment. She noted the importance of Qatar’s organ donation and transplantation programme, adding that the success of Qatar’s organ donation programme is something which is recognised internationally and which the country can be extremely proud of. “Qatar’s organ donation and transplantation programme has continued to develop at a steady pace to meet the country’s ever-increasing demand while also maintaining a high standard in terms of the quality of care provided to both donors and recipients. The programme is world-leading and has been recognised internationally for its focus on fairness and equality, and specifically the humane and unbiased nature of the service and its single unified national waiting list. I am confident that Dr Al Maslamani’s appointment and his work with this eminent group of organ transplantation experts will be instrumental in the continued evolution of organ donation and transplantation in this region,” said Dr Al Kuwari.
Dr Al Maslamani said he was honoured to have been elected to the post. Founded over 30 years ago, MESOT is among the most important organ transplantation organisations. “MESOT’s membership includes a number of highly-respected internists and international surgeons who are recognised as leading experts in the field of organ transplantation. Over the years, MESOT has gained extensive expertise in the field of organ transplantation and this had led to significant improvements in the field and helped to contribute to the development of more comprehensive healthcare systems across the Mideast region,” said Dr Al Maslamani.

وتم انتخاب الدكتور يوسف المسلماني لهذا المنصب خلال اجتماع الجمعية العامة لجمعية الشرق الأوسط الذي عقد مؤخرا بالتزامن مع المؤتمر السادس عشر لجمعية الشرق الأوسط لزراعة الأعضاء في العاصمة التركية أنقرة.
وأشادت سعادة الدكتورة حنان محمد الكواري وزيرة الصحة العامة بانتخاب الدكتور المسلماني لهذا المنصب، مشيرة إلى أن مؤسسة حمد الطبية قد نجحت في تأسيس برنامج وطني متميز لزراعة ونقل الأعضاء ما أكسب البرنامج سمعة طبية عالمية من خلال النجاحات التي حققها.
وقالت سعادتها إن مؤسسة حمد الطبية استمرت على مر السنين في التطور والتوسع بهدف تلبية الاحتياجات المتزايدة والمتغيرة للمجتمع مع السعي الحثيث لتحقيق رؤيتها الرامية لتقديم أفضل رعاية ممكنة لجميع المرضى بصرف النظر عن جنسياتهم وأديانهم وأعراقهم.
وأضافت أن برنامج زراعة الأعضاء بمؤسسة حمد تمكن من تحقيق هذه الأهداف بعيدة المدى من خلال مرافق المؤسسة العلاجية الحديثة والمزودة بأحدث وأفضل التقنيات والكوادر التي تتمتع بقدر عال من الكفاءة والمهارة والتفاني في العمل حتى تم التمكن من إبرام اتفاقية الدوحة للتبرع بالأعضاء في عام 2009 والتي أصبحت تمثل الإطار العام لتطوير برنامج التبرع بالأعضاء وبرنامج زراعة الأعضاء في قطر.
وبدوره، أشار الدكتور يوسف المسلماني إلى أن جمعية الشرق الأوسط لزراعة الأعضاء التي تأسست منذ أكثر من ثلاثين عاما تعد من الجمعيات المهمة في المنطقة وهي تجمع نخبة من أطباء الباطنية والجراحة في مجال زراعة الأعضاء، وتمتلك الخبرات اللازمة لتطوير الرعاية الصحية وتحسين الخدمات الطبية في مجال زراعة الأعضاء في كافة بلدان الشرق الأوسط.
وأوضح الدكتور المسلماني أن الفريق الطبي بمركز قطر لزراعة الأعضاء قد أجرى منذ مطلع العام الجاري 19 عملية زراعة كلى بالإضافة إلى 7 عمليات زرع كبد، في حين تم خلال الأعوام القليلة الماضية إجراء 47 عملية لمرضى زرعت لهم 12 كبدا و35 كلية من متبرعين متوفين وأحياء.
الجدير بالذكر أن عدد المسجلين في سجل التبرع بالأعضاء في مؤسسة حمد الطبية منذ إنشائه في العام 2012 قد قارب 300 ألف متبرع وهو ما يعادل 15 بالمائة من البالغين من سكان دولة قطر.
