Al Ahli symposium on esophagus disorders to attract 500 professionals

DOHA: In a commitment to provide educational and training programmes for healthcare professionals, Al Ahli Hospital will host a symposium next month on esophagus disorders.

The event will bring together more than 500 people in the field of healthcare and discuss the diseases, treatment methods and advanced technologies used in diagnosing esophagus disorders, said officials at Al Ahli Hospital yesterday.

The esophagus is the muscular tube that extends from the neck to the abdomen and connects the throat to the stomach.

“Al Ahli Hospital is committed to providing continuous medical education and professional development for its health care practitioners. The Esophagus Symposium encourages and supports licensed healthcare practitioners to improve their knowledge by keeping up to date with changing healthcare trends thus enabling them to meet the needs of their patients,” said Khaled Emadi, the CEO of Al Ahli Hospital.

Jamal Hamad, the Deputy CEO, Al Ahli Hospital, Dr Abdul Azziz Abdul Wahab Hussain, Chief of Medical Staff, Dr Loui Al Fakhri, Head of Staff, Training and Development Department and Dr Siddiq Mohamed Osman, Consultant Gastroenterologist were also present at the press conference.

The two-day conference to be held on October 26 and 27, is open to all healthcare practitioners. The event will feature speakers from Qatar and Europe. Registration for the event will open today at the Al Ahli Hospital’s main lobby. Online registration will be available from next week on www.alahlihospital.com

The most common problem with the esophagus is GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). With GERD, a muscle at the end of your esophagus does not close properly. This allows stomach contents to leak back, or reflux, into the esophagus and irritate it. Over time, GERD can cause damage to the esophagus.

Other esophagus disorders include heartburn, cancer, and eosinophilic esophagitis. Doctors may use various tests to make a diagnosis. These include imaging tests, an upper endoscopy and a biopsy.

“Gastroesophageal reflux is becoming very common. Any primary care physician or a general physician will see at least 25 percent of their patients with this condition. The symposium will help nurses, technicians, consultants, surgeons, paramedics to learn and develop their skills,” said Dr Osman.

Al Ahli Hospital’s educational and training programmes for healthcare professionals have been accredited by the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners Accreditation Department (QCHP-AP).

The Esophagus Symposium hosted by Al Ahli Hospital is accredited for 8.0 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Since 2016, Al Ahli Hospital has run 106 CPD events that have been by 20,000 licensed healthcare practitioners.

أعلن المستشفى الأهلي عن بدء التسجيل للمؤتمر الطبي الخاص بأمراض المريء، ابتداء من الأحد المقبل 30 سبتمبر، والذي سوف يقام في الفترة الواقعة بين 26-27 أكتوبر 2018 بقاعة إزدان بلس، وسيجمع المؤتمر بين الاستشاريين من ذوي الخبرة في هذا التخصص من أهم المؤسسات الطبية من دولة قطر وأوروبا.

سيكون التسجيل من خلال موقع المستشفى الأهلي لكل الأطباء والممرضين وممارسي الرعاية الصحية في قطر، والذي من خلاله يمكن للمشاركين استلام شهاداتهم أون لاين، حيث تحتسب ثمانية نقاط معتمدة. من جانبه، قال السيد خالد العمادي، الرئيس التنفيذي للمستشفى الأهلي:

«تعكس مثل هذا المؤتمرات الجهود التي يبذلها هؤلاء الأطباء في عمل البحوث الطبية، وتبادل الخبرات، من خلال الممارسات المهنية الطبية اليومية التي تضيف إلى خبراتهم وتزيد من تقدمهم في خدمة الإنسانية.» وأضاف: «المستشفى الأهلي باعتباره مركز تدريب لبرامج التطوير المهني المستمر المعتمد من المجلس القطري للتخصصات الصحية، عمل منذ استلامه هذا الاعتماد عام 2016 على تنظيم مجموعة من المؤتمرات الطبية والبرامج والورش التعليمية البالغ عددها مائة وستة، وحضرها أكثر من عشرين ألف مشارك، وكان مجموع عدد الساعات التدريبة ستة وثلاثين ألفاً وثمانية وسبعين ساعة لجميع المشتركين، حيث ساهمت بدورها في توفير الكثير من والوقت والجهد للأطباء وممارسي الرعاية الصحية بمختلف تخصصاتهم، وليس هذا فحسب، بل إن هذه المؤتمرات تساعد هؤلاء على مواصلة التعليم بشكل مستمر، خلال حياتهم المهنية، مما يرفع من تحسين مستوى الجودة لديهم، في تقديم خدمات الرعاية الصحية، ولا ننسى بتأكيد مساهمتها في الحفاظ على تراخيصهم الطبية».

وأكد السيد خالد: «نحن اليوم نؤكد ونلتزم بأننا لن نتوقف عن مواكبة التطور وتقديم كل ما نستطيع من جهود لدعم التعليم والتطور، وتبني كل ما هو جديد في عالم الطب للمساهمة، ولو بجزء بسيط في خدمة المجتمع».

في حين قال الدكتور صديق الملك، رئيس قسم الباطنية والجهاز الهضمي في المستشفى الأهلي: «يهدف هذا المؤتمر إلى مناقشة أمراض المريء، وأهمها ارتجاع حامض المريء، والتي هي من أكثر الأمراض شيوعاً، ويشتكي منها المرضى الذين يراجعون بالرعاية الأولية، وتقدر نسبتهم بـ 25 % إلى

30 %.

كما سيُناقش أحدث ما توصل إليه الطب في علاج أمراض المريء، ومناقشة طرق التشخيص، وطرق العلاج المختلفة الطبية والجراحية والأدوية الحديثة التي أدرجت قريباً لمعالجة أمراض المريء، وكذلك مناقشة المضاعفات وكيفية تجنبها».;
