Many benefit from QRCS medical convoy to Bangladesh city
قافلة «الهلال القطري» تفحص 100 حالة مرضية في بنجلاديش
Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has said its medical convoy to Bangladesh continues to conduct activities at Teknaf Public Hospital in Cox’s Bazar, benefiting many Rohingya refugees and local patients.
The medical team has examined 100 cases so far, of whom 30 cases have been selected for surgical intervention in various specialities, QRCS has said in a statement.
The team comprises physicians from Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Sidra Medicine, including Dr Abdullah R al-Naimi, consultant of urology and QRCS board member; Dr Jawhara H al-Qahtani, physician; Dr Ambika Anand, consultant of general surgery; Dr Sohel Mohamed Ahmed, anaesthesiologist; and Dr Muthana al-Salihi, paediatric surgeon. They are assisted by a team of nurses from QRCS.
“Medical convoys are a form of charity in which you donate your knowledge and expertise. QRCS and the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) are working together to deploy medical convoys, supported with physicians from Hamad Medical Corporation,” said Dr al-Naimi.
“It is an opportunity for doctors to take part in a charitable mission, working under the umbrella of an internationally recognised humanitarian provider,” he noted. “The MoPH facilitates the programme by issuing permissions for its doctors to travel with convoys.”
Dr al-Naimi noted that a presentation was made for HMC doctors to introduce them to the medical convoy programme early this year. “Last year, we met to identify the beneficiary countries based on their needs and feasibility. Different doctors are selected for different countries.
“For example, a medical convoy to Sudan will mostly comprise Sudanese doctors, in addition to Qatari doctors as well. It is a gesture of gratitude to their home country.”
The QRCS office in Bangladesh co-ordinates with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society to implement the project. They first signed agreements with the hospital concerned and then secured official permissions and purchased medical supplies.
Donors who would like to contribute to this programme can make payments through the QRCS headquarters, Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities-licensed agents at malls, Ooredoo self-service machines, Vodafone Easy Donations service, the QRCS website (www.qrcs.org.qa), or hotlines (16002 – 66666364 – 66644822).
واصلت القافلة الطبية التي أرسلها الهلال الأحمر القطري إلى بنجلاديش تنفيذ أنشطة المهمة الطبية الخيرية في مستشفى تكناف الحكومي بمدينة كوكس بازار. أجرى الفريق الطبي الفحوصات لأكثر من 100 مريض من اللاجئين الروهينجا والأهالي الفقراء، جرى تحديد 30 حالة لإجراء العمليات العاجلة لها حتى اليوم الأخير للمهمة.
يضم الفريق الطبي المتطوع مع الهلال الأحمر القطري أطباء من مؤسسة حمد الطبية ومستشفى السدرة، ومن بينهم الدكتور عبدالله راشد النعيمي استشاري جراحة المسالك البولية، والدكتورة جوهرة حمد القحطاني، والدكتورة أمبيكا أناند استشاري الجراحة العامة، والدكتور سهيل محمد أحمد استشاري التخدير، والدكتور مثنى الصالحي اختصاصي جراحة الأطفال، إلى جانب فريق تمريض من القطاع الطبي بالهلال الأحمر القطري.
وعن طبيعة المهمة، قال الدكتور عبدالله النعيمي عضو مجلس إدارة الهلال الأحمر القطري ورئيس البعثة: «الفكرة التي تقوم عليها القوافل الطبية هي من باب صدقة العلم، ومن هذا المنطلق جاءت الشراكة بين الهلال الأحمر القطري ووزارة الصحة العامة لإطلاق قوافل طبية مدعومة بالكوادر الطبية من مستشفيات مؤسسة حمد الطبية.
وأضاف: هذا العمل يعطي الفرصة للطبيب للمشاركة في العمل الطبي الخيري، تحت مظلة الهلال الأحمر القطري الذي يتمتع بصفة قانونية دولية. كما أن وزارة الصحة العامة تدعم المشروع من خلال منح الأطباء المشاركين تصريح تفرّغ للسفر مع القافلة الطبية».
وأوضح النعيمي: «في بداية العام الحالي، تم تنظيم لقاء مع الأطباء في مؤسسة حمد الطبية لعرض فكرة برنامج القوافل الطبية عليهم، وقد رحّب الكثيرون منهم بالمشاركة في هذه القوافل إذا أتيحت لهم الفرصة. وفي نهاية العام الماضي، عقد اجتماع لاختيار البلدان التي يمكن تنفيذ البرنامج بها، ومنها غزة وسوريا ولبنان والعراق وبنجلاديش والفلبين والسودان وغانا وتشاد».
وأضاف: «كان تحديد الدول على حسب حاجتها وإمكانية المشاركة فيها، مع مراعاة اختيار الدول التي تناسب جنسيات العاملين في المؤسسة، فمثلاً القافلة الطبية التي سوف تنفذ في السودان، نتوقع أن يكون أغلب المشاركين فيها من الأطباء السودانيين ومعهم بالطبع أطباء قطريون، مما يعطي الفرصة لهم لرد الجميل لبلادهم من خلال المشاركة في هذه القوافل الخيرية».;
