Corn and vegetable product recalled for likely contamination

The Joint Committee on Human Food Control has announced the withdrawal of “frozen corn and vegetable” product originating from Hungary and Belgium and produced by Green Yard, known as Pinguin, as a precautionary measure for possible contamination with Listeria bacteria, following an international notification.

In a statement yesterday, the committee explained that it was clear that the product was distributed in limited quantities, and was completely withdrawn by the competent authorities from outlets in cooperation with the distributor and that the quantities was reserved.

The statement also confirmed that samples were taken from the product for laboratory testing in the laboratories of the Ministry of Public Health to ensure its safety, pointing out that good cooking is sufficient to eliminate this type of bacteria.

The joint committee called upon all consumers who purchased the product not to consume it and return it to the outlet from which the purchase was made, adding that If the product is consumed, and if any symptoms such as nausea, fever and intestinal disorder after 3 to 5 days of consumption are noted, patient should head to health centre urgently. أعلنت اللجنة المشتركة لمراقبة الأغذية الآدمية عن سحب منتج ذرة وخضراوات مشكلة مجمدة منشأ المجر «هنجاريا» وبلجيكا، والمنتجة بواسطة شركة جرين يارد «GREEN YARD» -والمعروفة بالعلامة التجارية «Pinguin»- كإجراء احترازي، لاحتمال تلوثها ببكتيريا «اللستيريا»، وذلك على إثر إخطار دولي بهذا الشأن.

وأوضحت اللجنة أنه بالتعاون مع الجهات المختصة تبين توزيع كميات محدودة من المنتج المشتبه في سلامته في بعض منافذ البيع، وتم سحبه تماماً من هذه المنافذ، بالتعاون مع الموزع، والتحفظ على الكميات المحجوزة، كما تم سحب عينات منه للفحص المخبري في مختبرات وزارة الصحة العامة، للتأكد من سلامتها.

تجدر الإشارة في هذا الصدد إلى أن الطهي الجيد كافٍ للقضاء على هذا النوع من البكتيريا، وقد أهابت اللجنة المشتركة لمراقبة الأغذية الآدمية بجميع المستهلكين -ممن قاموا بشراء المنتج المشتبه في سلامته- بعدم استهلاكه، وإعادته إلى منفذ البيع الذي تم الشراء منه.

وأوضحت أنه في حال تم استهلاك المنتج، يرجى ملاحظة أي أعراض، مثل: الغثيان، وارتفاع درجة الحرارة، واضطراب معوي في بعض الحالات بعد 3 إلى 5 أيام من الاستهلاك، وفي حال ظهورها، يجب مراجعة المركز الصحي بشكل عاجل.;
