QU and THE to co-host summit in January 2019
جامعة قطر تستضيف قمة “التايمز للتعليم العالي” يناير المقبل
DOHA: Qatar University (QU) will host the 2019 Times Higher Education BRICS & Emerging Economies Universities Summit on January 14-16, 2019, in collaboration with the Times Higher Education (THE).
The event, first of its kind in the Arab world, aligns with Qatar’s pioneering role in education in the region. It is also the second THE summit organized by QU as the University hosted in 2015 the first edition of the Times Higher Education MENA Universities Summit, said a statement.
The event will bring together experts from THE and top leaders from the university and industry sectors to share their experiences in building and developing knowledge economies for high-value returns to societies of emerging economies and developing countries.
QU President Dr. Hassan Al Derham said: “The summit will explore strategies for driving up quality in teaching, research and knowledge transfer; leadership challenges facing institutions in developing economies; and how industry partnerships can prepare students for employment. Such priorities are already underlined by Qatar National Vision 2030 and Qatar University’s strategy 2018-2022, which maps out the routes to achieving continuing performance excellence building on our achievements in our key areas of education, research, institution and engagement.”

أعلنت جامعة قطر عن استضافتها لقمة التايمز للتعليم العالي لجامعات الدول ذات الاقتصادات الناشئة، وجامعات دول “البريكس” في يناير المقبل كأول حدث من نوعه في العالم العربي، وذلك بمشاركة خبراء من مؤسسة التايمز للتعليم العالي وقادة من قطاعي التعليم العالي والصناعة.
وتهدف القمة التي تعقد خلال الفترة من 14 إلى 16 من شهر يناير المقبل لتبادل الخبرات في بناء وتطوير اقتصادات المعرفة مما سيعود بالمنفعة على مجتمعات دول الاقتصادات الناشئة والدول النامية.
وقال الدكتور حسن الدرهم رئيس جامعة قطر، إن هذا الحدث الذي يعقد بالتعاون مع مؤسسة التايمز للتعليم العالي هو الأول من نوعه في العالم العربي ويتماشى مع الدور الرائد لدولة قطر في مجال التعليم في المنطقة .. مشيرا إلى أن هذه هي القمة الثانية من نوعها التي تنظمها جامعة قطر، إذ استضافت القمة الأولى لجامعات منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا في عام 2015.
وأوضح أن القمة ستناقش الاستراتيجيات لتعزيز الجودة في مجال التعليم والبحث العلمي وتبادل المعرفة، فضلا عن التحديات القيادية التي تواجه المؤسسات في الدول النامية وكيفية مساهمة الشراكات في مجال الصناعة في إعداد الطلبة للانضمام إلى سوق العمل.
ولفت إلى أنه “تم تسليط الضوء على هذه الأولويات ضمن رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 واستراتيجية جامعة قطر 2018-2022 التي ترسم الطريق لتحقيق التميز المستمر في الأداء والتي تقوم على إنجازاتنا في مجالات رئيسية في التعليم والبحث العلمي والمؤسسة والشراكة المجتمعية.”
ومن جانبه، قال السيد فيل باتي، مدير التصنيفات الدولية بمؤسسة التايمز للتعليم العالي: ” إن جامعة قطر تعتبر من إحدى أهم وأجمل الجامعات العالمية في العالم” .. منوها بأن دولة قطر المقر المثالي لجلب الجامعات معا من أكثر من 40 دولة في أربع قارات أوروبا، وإفريقيا، وآسيا وأمريكا الجنوبية، وذلك نظرا لتركيزها على دفع الجودة في مجال البحث العلمي ووتيرة الابتكار، وعلى تماشي مهارات الخريجين مع احتياجات الاقتصاد.
