MoPH announces Qatar’s first cancer awareness calendar
الصحة تُطور أول تقويم للتوعية بالسرطان
DOHA: Qatar’s first cross-organizational cancer awareness calendar has been launched with an aim to reduce the prevalence of the disease.
The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) yesterday announced the development of the cross-organizational cancer awareness calendar through a unique collaboration and partnership between some of the country’s leading healthcare organizations who work towards the prevention and treatment of cancer. The collaboration includes the MoPH, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) and Qatar Cancer Society (QCS).
The calendar reflects the collaborative efforts of health partners towards achieving the vision of the National Cancer Framework 2017-2022 and provides an opportunity for uniting efforts by stakeholders within Qatar to join forces to raise the awareness of cancer and reduce the local cancer burden. Dr Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad Al Thani, Director of Public health Department, MOPH said: “The participation of Public Health Department in the development of the cancer awareness calendar comes from the fact that no one organization or body or even government- no matter how hard they try- can on its own achieve the objectives of combating cancer.
Therefore, we believe it is crucial to use this calendar to coordinate and synergize the efforts of all partners to reduce early deaths from cancer and other chronic diseases by 25 by 2025, which is the target, set by the National Health Strategy 2018-2022.” Michel Harkous’, Director of Nursing and Education, National Center for Cancer Care Research, HMC said: “The development of Qatar’s first cross-organizational calendar is a great opportunity for health partners to work closer than ever before. Our joint efforts over the years have significantly improved the survival rates for cancer patients through education, diagnosis and treatment. Cancer has a significant impact on the lives of Qatar’s population and the only way to reduce its impact is through collaboration, partnership and teamwork.”
The calendar identifies dedicated cancer awareness months based on evidence-based incidence data published by the Qatar National Cancer Registry. It also recognizes international cancer awareness days.
This annual calendar will also highlight National Cancer Framework initiatives including cancer awareness ambassadors and the experiences of patients living with cancer and beyond cancer (i.e. cancer survivors).
All stakeholders and partners are encouraged to contribute to the battle against cancer by using this calendar to help raise awareness of the disease.
أعلنت وزارة الصحة العامة تطوير أول تقويم للتوعية بالسرطان عبر المؤسسات والجهات المعنية في الدولة من خلال التعاون والشراكة المتميزة بين مؤسسات الرعاية الصحية الرائدة في الدولة والتي تعمل على علاج السرطان والوقاية منه.
ويعد التقويم ثمرة الجهود المتضافرة والتعاون بين وزارة الصحة العامة ومؤسسة حمد الطبية ومؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية والجمعية القطرية للسرطان نحو تحقيق الرؤية الخاصة بالإطار الوطني للخطة الخمسية لمكافحة السرطان 2017 — 2022 وإتاحة المجال لتوحيد الجهود التي تبذلها الجهات المعنية في دولة قطر من أجل رفع الوعي بالسرطان والحد من أعبائه.
وقال الشيخ الدكتور محمد بن حمد آل ثاني مدير إدارة الصحة العامة بوزارة الصحة العامة “إن التقويم الخاص بالتوعية بالسرطان يأتي في إطار التعاون والشراكة بين مختلف الجهات والمؤسسات المعنية لمواجهة مرض السرطان لأن أي جهة بمفردها لا تستطيع تحقيق أهداف مكافحة السرطان.”
وأضاف مدير إدارة الصحة العامة بوزارة الصحة العامة قائلاً ” إنَّ التقويم يسهم في تنسيق الجهود وتضافرها للحد من الوفيات المبكرة من السرطان والأمراض المزمنة الأخرى بنسبة 25 % بحلول عام 2025 وهو الهدف المحدد للإستراتيجية الوطنية للصحة 2018 — 2022.”
وقالت السيدة كاثرين جيليسبي، مدير البرنامج الوطني للسرطان بوزارة الصحة العامة “لقد كان إطلاق الإطار الوطني للسرطان العام الماضي بمثابة تجديد الالتزام من قبل الجهات والمؤسسات المعنية تجاه العمل سوياً لتعزيز وعي السكان بمخاطر الإصابة بالسرطان.”
وقالت الدكتورة شيخة أبو شيخة مدير برنامج السرطان، في مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية: يمثّل هذا التعاون خطوة مهمة يقوم بها كافة الشركاء بهدف تخفيف عبء السرطان على المجتمع في دولة قطر. تكمن الفكرة في ابتكار هذا التقويم الموحد في نشر التوعية حول أكثر أنواع السرطانات انتشاراً وتثقيف أكبر شريحة ممكنة من الجمهور حيالها، مشيرة إلى حرص مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية على المشاركة في التقويم بهدف تحسين الوضع الصحي بشكل عام.
من جانبها رحبت السيدة مريم النعيمي المدير العام للجمعية القطرية للسرطان بكافة سبل التعاون مع جميع القطاعات الصحية العاملة في دولة قطر، بما يعود بالنفع على كل من يعيش في قطر، الأمر الذي يحقق رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030.
ويحدد تقويم التوعية بالسرطان شهوراً معينة يتم تخصيصها للتوعية بالسرطان اعتماداً على بيانات الإصابة القائمة على الأدلة والتي يتم نشرها وفقاً لإحصائيات سجل قطر الوطني للسرطان، كما يشارك في الاحتفال بمختلف أيام التوعية العالمية بالسرطان، وكذلك سيتم من خلال التقويم السنوي تسليط الضوء على مبادرات الإطار الوطني لمكافحة السرطان بما في ذلك سفراء التوعية بالسرطان وتجارب المرضى الذين يعانون من السرطان والذين تماثلوا للشفاء، ” على سبيل المثال الناجين من السرطان”.
