دراسة جديدة حول الرعاية الصحية بمناطق النزاع
Doha: The World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH), an initiative of Qatar Foundation (QF), has convened a team of global experts to prepare a special report on healthcare in conflict settings, to be presented at WISH 2018 in November.
The report was announced at a WISH event at the University of Oxford’s Harris Manchester College recently by Dr. Mukesh Kapila, Chair of the WISH Healthcare in Conflict Zones Research Group.
Dr. Kapila, who is Professor of Global Health and Humanitarian Affairs at the University of Manchester, was one of two special guest speakers at the event.
He was joined as a guest speaker by Dr. Mohammed Bin Ghanim Al-Ali Al Maadheed, Chairman of Qatar Red Crescent. Dr. Al Maadheed is one of the global experts who will be contributing to the WISH report, which will explore the many challenges faced by communities and healthcare practitioners living and working in conflict zones around the world.
Experts from Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), the International Rescue Committee, Humanity First, and the World Health Organization will also contribute.
The WISH event gathered representatives of several organizations from across the UK that have an interest in the topic highlighted. Among those present were representatives of humanitarian groups, charities, universities, and think tanks.
Dr Kapila, said, “We live during a time of unprecedented challenges for humankind, and central to our well-being is healthcare. We may or may not know how to end wars, but I believe that we’re definitely capable of mitigating suffering.
“Just because you’re living in a warzone doesn’t mean that you have to live with ill health. I’m very keen that through WISH’s focus on healthcare in conflict settings we’ll spearhead a global effort to bring help and hope to the tens of millions of people affected by conflict.”
The event was one of three that have been organized by WISH at the University of Oxford this April. Previously, the Qatar Foundation initiative used a lecture by Paul Farmer, CEO of Mind, the UK’s leading mental health charity, to announce a report on anxiety and depression.
The third event is a public lecture by Dr. Mohammed Ghaly on Islamic ethics and palliative care at the Investcorp Lecture Theatre, St Antony’s College, University of Oxford. WISH 2018 will once again gather global healthcare leaders in QNCC this November to highlight and address some of the world’s most pressing healthcare challenges.
كلّف مؤتمر القمة العالمي للابتكار في الرعاية الصحية «ويش» -إحدى مبادرات مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع- فريقاً يضم خبراء عالميين بإعداد تقرير خاص عن الرعاية الصحية في ظروف النزاع، لعرضه في مؤتمر «ويش» بالدوحة خلال شهر نوفمبر المقبل.
وكشف الدكتور موكيش كابيلا -رئيس مجموعة بحوث الرعاية الصحية في ظروف النزاع «ويش»- النقاب عن هذا التقرير خلال فعالية «ويش»، التي أقيمت مؤخراً في كلية هاريس مانشستر التابعة لجامعة أكسفورد، السبت الماضي، حيث كان واحداً من المتكلمين المتميزين في هذا الحدث.
وانضم إليه ضيف الشرف الدكتور محمد بن غانم العلي المعاضيد، رئيس مجلس إدارة الهلال الأحمر القطري، وأحد الخبراء العالميين الذين يساهمون في إعداد التقرير، الذي يستكشف التحديات التي تواجه المجتمعات، وممارسي الرعاية الصحية في مناطق النزاع حول العالم.
كما يساهم خبراء آخرون من منظمة أطباء بلا حدود، ولجنة الإنقاذ الدولية، و«البشرية أولاً»، ومنظمة الصحة العالمية في هذا التقرير. وجمعت الفعالية -التي نظمها «ويش»- ممثلين من عدة منظمات بالمملكة المتحدة، ومنها: الجماعات الإنسانية، والجمعيات الخيرية، والجامعات، ومراكز البحوث.
وقال الدكتور موكيش كابيلا، رئيس مجموعة بحوث الرعاية الصحية في ظروف النزاع بـ «ويش»: «إننا نواجه تحديات غير مسبوقة للبشرية، والرعاية الصحية تمثل عاملاً أساسياً لرفاهيتنا. وقد لا نعلم كيف ننهي الحروب، لكنني أعتقد أننا قادرون بالتأكيد على تخفيف المعاناة».
وأضاف في كلمته خلال الفعالية: «لا يعني العيش في منطقة حرب بالضرورة أن يعاني الإنسان من اعتلال الصحة. إنني أحرص -من خلال تركيز «ويش» على الرعاية الصحية في ظروف الصراع- على قيادة الجهود الرامية إلى مساعدة عشرات الملايين من الأشخاص، وتوفير الأمل لهم».
ومن ناحيته، قال الدكتور محمد بن غانم العلي المعاضيد، رئيس مجلس إدارة الهلال الأحمر القطري: «يعمل ممثلونا بجد لتوفير الدعم الطبي والإنساني في بعض أصعب البيئات في العالم. ومن المهم أن تتمكن الفرق العاملة في تقديم الدعم الطبي في مناطق النزاع من القيام بعملها في بيئة آمنة».
وأضاف: «يسرني أن تتاح لي الفرصة للمساهمة في إعداد تقرير ويش حول الرعاية الصحية في ظروف النزاع، وآمل أن ينتج عنه تأثير إيجابي على الجهود المبذولة لمساعدة هؤلاء الأشخاص في جميع أنحاء العالم الذين تتأثر صحتهم بالنزاع».;
