إطلاق دار نشر جامعة قطر
DOHA: Qatar University announced, during a press conference yesterday, the launch of QU Press at the research complex. QU Press aims to produce academic books that tackle the Middle East and other contemporary scientific matters that proposed by governmental institutions, centres, academics, researchers, graduate students and other institutions within Qatar, the region and the World.
QU Press will act as a new unit within the office of Vice-President for Research and Graduate Studies (VPRGS) that chaired by Professor Mariam Al Maadeed and led by Professor Talal Al Emadi, Director of QU Press. This new initiative will assist the development of proper functioning and standardisation of Qatar University currently existing and running academic journals. In addition, it will help sustain the efforts, history and record of Qatar’s international academic conferences, through publishing conference proceedings. Furthermore, It will have the capacity to support various centers in publishing academic and scientific reports and findings.
QU Press Director Dr Talal Al Emadi said: “The establishment of QU Press underlines QU’s role as an incubator of thoughts and reflects the organisation’s commitment to provide the community with quality education and research, to advance knowledge, and to contribute actively to the needs and aspirations of society. QU Press will invest heavily in ensuring the accuracy, originality, and design of scholarly manuscripts and peer-reviewed journals, as well as their readability. We will collaborate with international associations of university presses with the aim to ensure compliance with international publishing standards.”
Prof Mariam Al Maadeed said: “QU Press will promote dialogue on contemporary and critical issues that are of the interest of society in Qatar and the region. It will also offer QU students and professors the highest quality materials for teaching and learning, and will contribute to QU’s efforts to prepare a generation which is capable to participate in the process of national development and fulfill the national aspirations towards a knowledge-based economy.”
The Press will produce scholarly resources in a variety of digital formats including e-books, e-journals, online, aggregated collections as well as print formats including digital printing and print on-demand.
The Press will formulate affordable subscription packages to its online journals and resources for institutions as well as individuals. The press will also set-up and easy to purchase online books selling point.
QU Press will boast a complete organisational structure ranging from acquisitions and editorial, information technology, production design and printing, business support and sales and marketing and distribution for single and wholesale. Additionally it has an international Advisory Board that will provide non-binding strategic advice and could help the Press to identify projects. Furthermore, it has an internal Editorial Committee that will study proposals submitted to the Press as well as identify projects, among other related matters to the Press as they arise.
نظمت جامعة قطر مؤتمراً صحافياً صباح أمس، في مجمع البحوث في جامعة قطر، بحضور البروفسورة مريم المعاضيد، نائب رئيس الجامعة للبحث والدراسات العليا ورئيسة المجلس الاستشاري لدار نشر جامعة قطر، والدكتور طلال العمادي رئيس التحرير، وذلك للإعلان عن إطلاق دار نشر جامعة قطر.
وفي كلمتها بالمناسبة أكدت البروفسورة مريم المعاضيد أن دار النشر ستعمل على تعزيز الحوار حول القضايا المعاصرة والحرجة التي تهم المجتمع في قطر بشكل خاص والمنطقة بشكل عام. كما ستقدم للطلاب وأعضاء هيئة التدريس من جامعة قطر مواد عالية الجودة للتدريس والتعلم، وستدعم جهود جامعة قطر لإعداد جيل قادر على المشاركة في عملية التنمية الوطنية وتحقيق التطلعات الوطنية نحو اقتصاد قائم على المعرفة، وذلك بتحسين نوعية الأبحاث والتعليم والبرامج الأكاديمية، وترفع من كفاءة الطلاب والباحثين وتقوّي دور الجامعة في إنجاح برامج التنمية المستدامة للمجتمع.
وقال رئيس تحرير دار النشر الدكتور طلال العمادي: «جاء تأسيس دار نشر جامعة قطر دعماً لدور الجامعة كحاضنة للأفكار والابتكار مما انعكس في التزامها بجودة التعليم وكفاءة البحوث، وذلك لزيادة المعرفة وتلبية احتياجات المجتمع وتطلعاته، بحيث سيتم استثمار دار النشر لضمان دقة وأصالة وتصميم المخطوطات العلمية والمجلات المراجعة من قبل الأقران وقراءتها، كما سيكون للدار شراكات مع مؤسسات عالمية رديفة وستحتل مكانها بين دور النشر الجامعية المعروفة وأولها اتحاد دور النشر الجامعي العالمي الشهير بهدف الامتثال لمعايير النشر الدولية». وتأتي الحاجة لدار النشر لاحتلال جامعة قطر تصنيفاً عربياً وعالمياً عالياً، ففيها 16 مركزاً بحثياً و9 كليات وعدداً كبيراً من الطلاب والأساتذة والباحثين الذين ينتجون أبحاثاً دقيقة وهامة في مختلف المجالات. كما تعقد الجامعة العديد من المؤتمرات والندوات والفعاليات العلميّة ومذكرات التفاهم والشراكات والبحوث المشتركة وغيرها، وستكون المظلة، التي تشرف على كل هذه الأنشطة في إطار رؤية علمية وإدارية واضحة وأولويات مدروسة وتنظيم دقيق يحقّق أفضل مردود بأقل النفقات، تُعنى الدّار بالنشر، باللغة العربية خاصةً، وهي بذلك تكون الأولى من نوعها، وسوف تسد فراغاً كبيراً وتعزز الإنتاج الأكاديمي القطري والعربي الأصيل، وتصبح محط أنظار الباحثين والطلاب من كل الأرجاء.
وتساهم دار النشر في تحقيق الخطة الاستراتيجية المقبلة للجامعة، عبر نشر مقالات وكتب محكمة وعالية السويّة، تتصدى لتحديات جوهرية وتساعد في إغناء الخبرة والمعرفة، وترسخ ثقافة البحث الأكاديمي، وتساعد الدار في رفع تصنيف الجامعة العربي والعالمي، وفي دعم مؤشرات أدائها الأساسية، وحفظ ملكيتها الفكرية وحقوقها وبراءات اختراعها وحمايتها من الانتحال أو التزوير، وما إلى ذلك من إيجابيات تساعد في تحقيق تميز الجامعة الأكاديمي وتعزز شراكاتها وتعرّف بمنتجاتها العلمية المبدعة على أوسع نطاق.
