حمد الطبية تمكن أولياء الأمور من مرافقة أطفالهم لغرفة العمليات
Doha: Hamad Medical Corporation’s Ambulatory Care Center is transforming the way children undergoing surgery under general anesthetic receive care by allowing parents to accompany their child into the operating theater and to stay with them while the anesthetic is being administered.
The initiative is part of a pilot project that was launched earlier this month under the stewardship of the Director of the Ambulatory Care Center, Dr Khalid Al Jalham. The initiative links to the results of international research studies which have shown that the presence of a parent during the induction of anesthesia significantly decreases separation anxiety and stress for both the parent and their child.
“The preparation of any child for surgery is a cause of great stress for both the child and his or her parents. At the Ambulatory Care Center, we believe one of the most important ways by which we can prevent this stress is to allow one of the parents to be present at the start of anesthesia, said Dr Al Jalham.
Professor Marco Marcus, HMC’s Chairman of Anesthesiology, ICU, and Perioperative Medicine explained that care teams meet with parents in advance to ensure they are fully prepared for their role in the theater.
He said, “We prepare parents for this by providing them with a clear explanation of their role inside the theater before the surgery takes place. They are given detailed information about both their role and the overall process when they visit the Pre-assessment Anesthesia Clinic (PAAC) in the weeks or days preceding the planned surgery.”
Also after surgery, parents are invited to join their child in the post-operative recovery area so they are present, by their child’s side, to reassure them when they wake up.
Earlier this month, two-year-old Amanuel Endale was one of the first children to undergo general anesthetic in the presence of a parent. Bereket Endale, Amanuel’s father, accompanied his son into the operating theater for his tonsillectomy (tonsil removal surgery).
He commented on how calm his son was going to the theater and called the experience very positive, particularly compared to that of his older son who had the same procedure one year prior. At that time he was unable to enter the theater for the administering of the general anesthetic, so Endale appriciated the initiative by the Ambulatory Care Center as a change for the better.
أطلقت مؤسسة حمد الطبية مبادرة جديدة في مركز الرعاية الطبية اليومية تتمثل في تمكين أولياء الأمور من مرافقة أطفالهم إلى غرفة العمليات والبقاء معهم أثناء تلقيهم التخدير، وذلك كنهج جديد في الرعاية المقدمة إلى الأطفال الخاضعين للعمليات الجراحية تحت التخدير العام.
وتأتي هذه المبادرة في إطار مشروع تجريبي تم تدشينه في مركز الرعاية الطبية اليومية، وهي مستمدة من النتائج التي توصلت إليها الدراسات البحثية الدولية والتي أكدت أهمية وجود أحد الوالدين مع الطفل خلال إعطائه التخدير العام قبل دخوله غرفة العمليات، الأمر الذي يساهم في التخفيف من حدة الخوف والقلق اللذين ينتابان الطفل والوالدين لحظة دخوله العملية.
وقال الدكتور خالد الجلهم مدير مركز الرعاية الطبية اليومية في تصريح اليوم، إن تحضير الطفل للخضوع لعملية جراحية يشكل مصدر ضغط نفسي كبير سواء للطفل أو لذويه، ولذلك فإن السماح لأحد الوالدين بالتواجد بالقرب من الطفل عند الشروع بالتخدير هو من الطرق الهامة التي من شأنها الحيلولة دون التعرض لهذا النوع من الضغوطات النفسية.
ومن جهته أوضح البروفيسور ماركو ماركوس رئيس قسم التخدير ووحدة العناية المركزة وطب ما قبل وبعد الجراحة بمؤسسة حمد الطبية، أن فرق الرعاية تجتمع مسبقا بأهل الطفل المريض لضمان كامل استعدادهم لدورهم في غرفة العمليات، حيث يتم تزويدهم بشرح واضح لوظيفتهم داخل غرفة العمليات قبل المباشرة بالعملية الجراحية.
واشار الى أن الأهل وأولياء الأمور يحصلون على معلومات مفصلة حول دورهم والإجراء بشكل عام أثناء زيارتهم لعيادة رعاية ما قبل التخدير، وذلك خلال الأسابيع أو الأيام التي تسبق الموعد المحدد للعملية الجراحية، حيث تتيح لهم هذه الزيارة التعرف عن كثب عما هو متوقع منهم وفهمه بوضوح، كما تساعدهم على الاستعداد لتوفير الدعم للطفل ومساندته قدر المستطاع.
ومن ناحيته، قال الدكتور بالاكريشنان راماتشاندران رئيس واستشاري أول في قسم التخدير بمركز الرعاية الطبية اليومية، إنه بناء على المبادرة الجديدة فإنه يسمح لأحد الوالدين بالدخول مع الطفل إلى غرفة العمليات إلى حين تنويم الطفل تحت تأثير التخدير، حيث يساهم هذا في التخفيف من حدة القلق أو الضيق الذي قد يعاني منه الطفل قبل العملية ومنحه تجربة استشفائية تبعث في نفسه الهدوء والطمأنينة.. مضيفا أن والدي الطفل يتم بعد ذلك دعوتهما الى غرفة الإفاقة بعد خضوع ابنهما للعملية الجراحية ليكونا موجودين بجانبه وطمأنته عند استيقاظه من تأثير التخدير.
