الشيخة المياسة تدعو أفراد المجتمع للمشاركة في بناء محتوى متحف قطر الوطني
Qatar Museums (QM) has launched a call for objects from the local community to be included in the forthcoming National Museum of Qatar. A limited number of the local community will have the privilege of showcasing historic objects and artefacts belonging to them that will be featured as exhibits within the wider Museum.
Opening officially in December 2018, the Museum tells the story of the people of Qatar, giving voice to the country’s rich heritage and history whilst celebrating its future. The Museum represents one of the most significant cultural projects in the country and also one of the most ambitious museum projects of its kind, anywhere in the world, QM said.
“It will celebrate Qatar’s culture by preserving and reconnecting visitors and residents with the country’s traditions,” QM said.
“In this way, the Museum is the physical manifestation of Qatar’s proud identity, connecting the country’s history with its diverse and cosmopolitan present.”
Exhibitions will combine historic objects and contemporary influences, opening up a dialogue around the impact of rapid change. Innovative presentation techniques will excite audiences and push boundaries.
QM noted that the museum will be a thriving hub for the public, students, and museum professionals. It will redefine the role of a cultural institution, fostering a spirit of participation and providing the conditions for discovery to thrive.
The Museum’s structure surrounds the Old Palace of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim al-Thani.
The Old Palace, a former royal residence and seat of government, was converted into the original National Museum of Qatar in 1975. It is one of most recognisable landmarks in the country and serves as a monument to a historic way of life in Qatar.
The palace has a unique historical significance for the country and will be a fitting central exhibit within the Museum when it opens.
“The National Museum will be a source of pride for our entire nation. With this donation drive we’re providing a unique opportunity for selected members of the local community to play their part in helping tell the story of the country’s past, present and future,” National Museum of Qatar director Sheikha Amna bint Abdulaziz bin Jassim al-Thani said.
“We are excited to see just how varied and unusual the various belongings and objects we receive are,” she added.
According to QM, the Museum symbolises Qatar’s commitment to developing cultural spaces that develop, promote and sustain a thriving cultural sector and build a national spirit of participation. The Museum also demonstrates the efforts that QM is undertaking in fulfilling the cultural goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030, contributing to a strong and sustainable cultural infrastructure for the country and helping to build a diversified, knowledge-based economy.
دعت متاحف قطر المواطنين والمقيمين في دولة قطر للمشاركة في بناء محتوى متحف قطر الوطني المقرر افتتاحه في شهر ديسمبر من العام الجاري.
وقالت سعادة الشيخة المياسة بنت حمد آل ثاني، رئيسة مجلس أمناء متاحف قطر في تصريح اليوم: “إيمانًا مني بأن متحف قطر الوطني ملك لكل قطري، بل هو جزء من تاريخه وامتداد لجذوره وانعكاس لهويته، أتشرف بدعوة جميع المواطنين والمقيمين بالمشاركة في بناء محتوى متحف قطر الوطني بما لديهم من وثائق أو مقتنيات تمثل جزءًا من ذاكرة قطر وتاريخها ليتم تخليدها في المتحف”.
ويُعد متحف قطر الوطني من أبرز المشروعات الثقافية في دولة قطر وأكثرها طموحا، حيث يؤكد التزام قطر المتواصل بالتحوّل لمركز ثقافي عالمي.
وسيحتفي المتحف بتراث دولة قطر، وسيمنحها صوتا تعبّر من خلاله عن احتضانها للماضي واستشرافها للمستقبل، ليكون جسرا يربط بين ماضي الأمة الثري بحاضرها المتنوع والمنفتح على العالم.
من جهتها، أكدت سعادة الشيخة آمنة بنت عبدالعزيز آل ثاني، مديرة متحف قطر الوطني، أن متحف قطر الوطني فخر لكل مواطن يعيش على أرض هذا البلد. وهو ذاكرة حيّة لدولة قطر وأبنائها، ومكان جامع للإرث القطري بما يحفل به من عادات وسلوكيات وممارسات، ونافذة نستشرف من خلالها المستقبل بما يحتويه المتحف من أحدث التقنيات والتجهيزات وأساليب العرض.
وأضافت: “أردنا أن نوصّل لأبناء المجتمع القطري رسالة مفادها أن هذا المتحف عنهم ولهم، فجاءت دعوة سعادة الشيخة المياسة لتفتح الباب أمام عدد من أفراد المجتمع للمشاركة في بناء محتوى متحفهم الوطني، تقديرًا لأهل قطر ورغبة في إتاحة الفرصة أمامهم لتخليد انتمائهم لهذا البلد العزيز”.
وفي هذا السياق، كشفت متاحف قطر، أنه بناء على هذه المبادرة، ستقبل عددا محدودا من المقتنيات من المشاركات التي سيسهم بها أفراد المجتمع لعرضها في المتحف الجديد.
وسيضم المتحف مقتنيات تاريخية وقطعا فنية معاصرة تروي فصول قصة الشعب القطري عبر التاريخ، مبحرا في أعماق الماضي ليلقي الضوء على تراث دولة قطر وحكايات أهلها مع البحر والصحراء.
ولن يقتصر تجسيد هذه المعاني على مقتنيات وأنشطة المتحف فقط، بل ستنعكس أيضا في تصميمه المبتكر الذي استوحاه المعماري الفرنسي الشهير جان نوفيل من وردة الصحراء، ليكون المتحف المطل على كورنيش الدوحة تجسيدا ماديا ومعنويا للهوية القطرية.
وسيكون المتحف مركزا للجمهور والطلاب وخبراء المتاحف بتقديمه العديد من التجارب الثرية والمتنوعة التي تلبي الرغبات المختلفة للجماهير.
كما سيعمل المتحف على إعادة تعريف دور المؤسسات الثقافية وتعزيز روح المشاركة وتعريز الاستكشاف الفني والعلم.
ومن المرتقب أن تسهم حدائق المتحف أيضا في أداء دور مهم في رواية قصة قطر من خلال توفيرها لتجارب تعليمية للأطفال والعائلات.
