Doha: A study conducted by the Investment Promotion Agency indicates that the pharmaceutical industry in Qatar is expected to experience significant growth in the coming years, driven by the expansion of the middle class and the increasing aging population worldwide.
This sector provides lucrative opportunities for investors and stakeholders around the globe due to the projected 165.2% growth in the pharmaceutical market between 2020 and 2030. The pharmaceutical industry witnessed a surge in the post-COVID-19 era, evident in the record number of biopharmaceutical deals and substantial investments in healthcare systems. This trend has garnered attention in the Middle East region, particularly in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, where the pharmaceutical industry is entering a new phase.
On a global scale, the pharmaceutical market is on an upward trajectory, with a significant increase in biopharmaceuticals by 107% in 2020 compared to 2018. Research and development spending also experienced a substantial rise, reaching $189 billion in 2020.
This expected growth reflects the continuous expansion of the pharmaceutical industry following the pandemic and the significant investments in global healthcare systems. By 2025, the pharmaceutical market is projected to reach $2.051 trillion, representing a 70% increase from 2020. Similarly, previous forecasts have indicated a 32% growth in drug sales starting from 2020, reaching $181.1 billion by 2024.

الدوحة: أشارت دراسة أعدتها وكالة ترويج الاستثمار إلى أنه من المتوقع أن تشهد الصناعة الدوائية في قطر نموًا ملحوظًا في الأعوام المقبلة، مدفوعًا بتوسع الطبقة الوسطى، وارتفاع معدل الشيخوخة بين سكان العالم. ويوفر هذا القطاع فرصًا مجزية للمستثمرين والجهات المعنية في جميع أنحاء العالم جراء التوقعات بنمو سوق الأدوية بنسبة 165.2 % بين عامي 2020 و2030. وقد شهدت صناعة الأدوية طفرة خلال الحقبة التي أعقبت جائحة كوفيد- 19، وظهر ذلك جليًا في العدد القياسي لصفقات الأدوية الحيوية، والاستثمارات الكبيرة في أنظمة الرعاية الصحية. وقد حظي هذا التوجه بالاهتمام في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، وخاصةً في دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي، حيث تُشكّل صناعة الأدوية مرحلة جديدةً لها.
أما على الصعيد العالمي، فتسير سوق الأدوية في مسار تصاعدي، حيث شهد عام 2020 قفزة كبيرة في عدد الأدوية الحيوية، بزيادة ملحوظة بلغت 107 %، مقارنةً بعام 2018، كما سجل الإنفاق على البحث والتطوير ارتفاعًا كبيرًا، وصل إلى 189 مليار دولار في 2020.
ويشير هذا النمو المتوقع إلى التوسع المطرد في الصناعة الدوائية في أعقاب الجائحة، والاستثمارات الكبيرة في أنظمة الرعاية الصحية في العالم. وبحلول عام 2025، يتوقع أن يصل سوق الأدوية إلى 2,051 مليار دولار، بزيادة قدرها 70 % عن 2020. وعلى نحو مماثل، فقد أشارت التوقعات السابقة إلى ارتفاع مبيعات الأدوية بنسبة 32 % ابتداءً من عام 2020 لتصل إلى 181,1 مليار دولار بحلول عام 2024.
