QRDI Council Launches New Innovation Opportunities in Cooperation with Local Companies

Doha: Qatar Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI) Council’s flagship program, Qatar Open Innovation (QOI), has announced its Innovation Opportunities in collaboration with Baladna, Gulf Warehousing Company (GWC), and Es’hailSat to find innovative methods for the challenges they face.

The first opportunity comes with Baladna under the title “Standardize and improve the quality of organic compost” to ensure optimal comfort for cows, achieve high production capacity and find innovative solutions to achieve the highest level of quality sustainable compost. To achieve this, QRDI and Baladna, are seeking innovative approaches, such as novel process methodology or additives which can “Standardize and improve the quality of organic compost.” The deadline to submit a proposal is open until 26 July.

Gulf Warehousing Company’s challenge is entitled, “Tracking and tracing warehouse inventory”, as it invites Startups, SMEs, and corporates’ proposals for technologies that enable Automated tracking and tracing of warehouse inventory stock. GWC is looking for innovative solutions which reduce the reliance on personnel and increase safety and efficiency for their customers. The deadline to submit a proposal is open until 22 August 2023.

Es’hailSat’s challenge is entitled “Remote Telemetry Monitoring for Geostationary Satellites.” There are occasions (2-3 times per annum) when communication issues arise. In this case, engineers must be dispatched to the Es’hailSat Teleport to identify and resolve the issue. To address this issue, Es’hailSat would like to implement a remote monitoring solution whereby the Engineer can monitor the telemetry from the satellites from anywhere with an internet connection and identify any potential issue before traveling to Es’hailSat Teleport site. By facilitating faster reactions and minimizing downtime, the remote monitoring solution would ensure continuous service provision by Es’hailSat. The deadline to submit the proposal is 1 August.

Commenting on the launch, RDI Program Director at Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council, Haya Al Ghanim, said that they are thrilled to announce the launch of the three Innovation Opportunities, marking another milestone for the Qatar Open Innovation program. Through strategic partnerships with Baladna, GWC, and Es’hailSat, they aim to harness the power of innovation to address local opportunities in alignment with Qatar’s priority areas. Selected innovators will have the invaluable opportunity to collaborate with trusted pilot partners and test their groundbreaking technologies, paving the way for future large-scale implementation and driving Qatar’s research, development, and innovation landscape forward.

The Qatar Open Innovation program has been the primary platform for startups and innovators to showcase their products and solutions that address the nation’s most pressing challenges in the five national priority areas of energy, health, resource sustainability, society, and digital technology, as outlined in the QRDI Strategy 2030, by identifying opportunities for innovation collaborations to drive economic prosperity.

الدوحة: أعلن برنامج قطر للابتكار المفتوح، التابع لمجلس قطر للبحوث والتطوير والابتكار، عن إطلاق فرص للابتكار بالتعاون مع عدد من الشركات المحلية “بلدنا والخليج للمخازن وسهيل سات” لإيجاد أساليب وطرق مبتكرة للتحديات التي تواجهها.

وتأتي الفرصة الأولى مع شركة بلدنا بعنوان “توحيد وتحسين جودة السماد العضوي” لضمان الراحة المثلى للأبقار وتحقيق قدرة إنتاجية عالية وإيجاد حلول مبتكرة لتحقيق أعلى مستوى من جودة السماد المستدام . ولتحقيق ذلك، يبحث المجلس وشركة بلدنا عن أساليب مبتكرة، مثل منهجية عملية جديدة أو إضافات يمكنها “توحيد وتحسين جودة السماد العضوي” حيث تحدد الموعد النهائي لتقديم المقترحات في يوم 26 يوليو الجاري.

أما التحدي الذي تواجهه شركة الخليج للمخازن فهو “مراقبة وتتبع مخزون المستودعات”، حيث دعت الشركات الناشئة والشركات الصغيرة والمتوسطة وغيرها إلى تقديم مقترحات للتقنيات التي تمكن من التتبع الآلي وتعقب مخزون المستودعات؛ حيث تبحث عن حلول مبتكرة تقلل من الاعتماد على الموظفين وتزيد من السلامة والكفاءة لعملائها وتحدد الموعد النهائي لتقديم المقترحات يوم 22 أغسطس المقبل.

وبخصوص التحدي الذي تواجهه شركة سهيل سات فهو بعنوان “المراقبة عن بعد للأقمار الصناعية المستقرة بالنسبة للأرض”، فهناك مناسبات (2- 3 مرات في السنة) تظهر فيها مشاكل بشأن الاتصال، وفي هذه الحالة، يجب إرسال المهندسين إلى محطة سهيل سات لتحديد المشكلة وحلها. ولمعالجة هذه المشكلة، ترغب شركة سهيل سات في إيجاد حل للمراقبة عن بعد، بحيث يمكن للمهندس مراقبة الأقمار الصناعية عن بعد من أي مكان من خلال الاتصال بالإنترنت وتحديد أي مشكلة محتملة قبل السفر إلى موقع سهيل سات. بهدف تسهيل اتخاذ ردود الفعل بشكل أسرع وتقليل وقت التوقف عن العمل، وضمان المراقبة عن بعد وتقديم خدمة مستمرة من قبل سهيل سات. وقد تحدد الموعد النهائي لتقديم الاقتراح في الأول من أغسطس المقبل.

وبهذه المناسبة، أعربت السيدة هيا الغانم، مديرة برامج البحوث والتطوير والابتكار بمجلس قطر للبحوث والتطوير والابتكار عن سعادتها بإطلاق فرص الابتكار الثلاث، والذي يمثل خطوة جديدة لبرنامج قطر للابتكار المفتوح من خلال الشراكات الاستراتيجية مع بلدنا، وشركة الخليج للمخازن، وسهيل سات، بهدف تسخير قوة الابتكار لمعالجة الفرص المحلية بما يتماشى مع المجالات ذات الأولوية في قطر، مشيرة إلى أنه سيتاح للمبتكرين المختارين فرصة لا تقدر بثمن للتعاون مع شركاء موثوقين لتجريب واختبار تقنياتهم الرائدة، مما يمهد الطريق للتنفيذ على نطاق واسع في المستقبل. ويعزز سعى المجلس إلى قيادة منظومة البحوث والتطوير والابتكار في قطر إلى الأمام.
