Lusail Circuit Joins the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship

Paris – Qatar: Lusail International Circuit in Qatar has entered the calendar for the seventy-fifth edition of the Formula 1 World Championship for the 2024 season. The calendar, consisting of 24 rounds, was announced by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) to provide fans with an overview of the locations and timings of their favorite races.

The Qatar Grand Prix will be the penultimate round of the Formula 1 season and will be held for the second consecutive year from November 29th to December 1st.

The organizers of the Formula 1 World Championship have announced several changes to the upcoming season’s calendar. It will commence with two races in the Arab region, at the Bahrain International Circuit in “Sakhir” and the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the season will conclude with two races in the Arab region as well, with the race prior to the finale taking place at the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar, followed by the final race at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

In a statement, Formula 1 announced that the upcoming season will start with races on Saturday, March 2nd, and Saturday, March 9th in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, respectively, deviating from the traditional Sunday race day. This adjustment is made to accommodate the holy month of Ramadan, which begins on the tenth of March. As a result, there will be three Saturday races in the 2024 season, as the two Arab races will join the American “Las Vegas” Grand Prix, which will host a night race on Saturday, becoming the first since 1985, eliminating the traditional Sunday race day.

The current season was initially planned to consist of a record-breaking 24 races. However, the Chinese Grand Prix was canceled in April due to COVID-19 restrictions, and the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola, Italy, was canceled due to the floods in the region. Nevertheless, both races will be included in the 2024 calendar, which begins in early March and concludes in early December.

The organizers of the Formula 1 World Championship have rescheduled some races to “better accommodate the calendar, reduce logistical burdens, and make the season more sustainable.” The Japanese Grand Prix has been moved to April, and the Azerbaijan Grand Prix will return to September. The Qatar race will now serve as the penultimate race of the season.

The Formula 1 World Championship will kick off this year with five consecutive races in the Asian continent, starting with Bahrain on March 2nd, followed by Saudi Arabia on March 9th, Australia on March 24th, Japan on April 7th, and ending in China on April 21st. The championship will then move to the United States for a single round at the Miami Circuit on May 5th. It will then return to Europe for two races in Emilia Romagna, Italy, on May 19th, and Monaco on May 26th, before heading to Canada on June 9th. The championship will then have a sequence of seven consecutive races in Europe, including Spain on June 26th, Austria on July 30th, Britain on July 7th, Hungary on July 21st, Belgium on July 28th, the Netherlands on August 25th, and Italy on September 1st.

In the seventeenth round, the Formula 1 World Championship will return to the Asian continent for two consecutive races in Azerbaijan on September 15th and Singapore on September 24th. It will then head to the Americas for the nineteenth round at the Circuit of the Americas on October 20th, followed by Mexico on October 27th, Brazil on November 3rd,and Las Vegas on November 23rd. Finally, the championship will return to the Asian continent, where it began, for the last two rounds at the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar on December 1st and the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi on November 8th.

وستكون جائزة قطر الكبرى للفورمولا-1، الجولة الثالثة والعشرين وقبل الأخيرة من الموسم، حيث تقام للموسم الثاني على التوالي، وذلك خلال الفترة من 29 نوفمبر و1 ديسمبر المقبلين.

وأعلن منظمو بطولة العالم للفورمولا-1 أن روزنامة الموسم المقبل ستشهد العديد من التغييرات، حيث ستبدأ مع سباقين في المنطقة العربية على حلبة “الصخير” في البحرين، وكورنيش جدة في المملكة العربية السعودية، وكذلك ستنتهي مع سباقين في المنطقة العربية أيضا، حيث سيكون السباق قبل الختامي على حلبة لوسيل الدولية بقطر، يتبعه السباق الختامي على حلبة “مرسى ياس” في أبوظبي.

وقالت الفورمولا، في بيان لها، إن الموسم المقبل سيفتتح بسباقين يومي السبت الثاني والتاسع من مارس، في البحرين والسعودية، خلافا ليوم الأحد التقليدي، وذلك من أجل التكيف مع شهر رمضان الكريم الذي يبدأ في العاشر منه.. وأضافت أنه نتيجة لذلك، ستقام ثلاثة سباقات يوم السبت في موسم 2024، إذ سينضم السباقان العربيان إلى جائزة “لاس فيجاس” الأمريكية التي ستستضيف هذا العام سباقا ليليا مساء السبت، سيكون الأول منذ 1985، حيث لا يقام يوم الأحد التقليدي.

وكان من المقرر أن يتألف موسم هذا العام من 24 سباقا قياسيا، لكن جائزة الصين الكبرى ألغيت في أبريل بسبب القيود المتعلقة بكوفيد-19، فيما ألغي سباق ايميليا رومانيا الإيطالي على حلبة أيمولا بسبب الفيضانات التي ضربت المنطقة، لكن الموسم الجديد 2024 سيشهد تواجد السباقين على الروزنامة، التي تبدأ مطلع مارس وتنتهي مطلع ديسمبر.

وقام منظمو بطولة العالم بتغيير جدولة بعض السباقات من أجل “تأقلم أفضل للروزنامة، وتقليل الأعباء اللوجستية وجعل الموسم أكثر استدامة”، حيث تم تقديم سباق اليابان إلى أبريل فيما عادت جائزة أذربيجان إلى سبتمبر، أما سباق قطر فبات ما قبل الأخير للموسم.

وستنطلق بطولة العالم للفورمولا-1 هذا العام من القارة الآسيوية عبر خمسة سباقات على التوالي بداية من البحرين (2 مارس)، مرورا بالسعودية (9 مارس)، وأستراليا (24 مارس)، واليابان (7 أبريل) ونهاية بالصين (21 أبريل)، وبعدها تتجه البطولة إلى أمريكا بجولة وحيدة تقام على حلبة ميامي في 5 مايو، ثم تتحول المنافسات إلى القارة الأوروبية بسباقين في إيميليا رومانيا (19 مايو) وموناكو (26 مايو)، قبل أن تتجه لخوض الجولة التاسعة في كندا (9 يونيو)، ومن ثم ستحط البطولة في القارة الأوروبية من جديد بسبع جولات متتالية، في إسبانيا (26 يونيو)، والنمسا (30 يوليو)، وبريطانيا (7 يوليو)، والمجر (21 يوليو)، وبلجيكا (28 يوليو)، وهولندا (25 أغسطس)، وإيطاليا (1 سبتمبر).

وفي الجولة السابعة عشرة تتحول سباقات بطولة العالم من جديد إلى القارة الآسيوية بسباقين متتاليين، الأول في أذربيجان (15 سبتمبر)، والثاني في سنغافورة (24 سبتمبر)، على أن تتجه بعدها إلى أمريكا خلال الجولة التاسعة عشرة في حلبة الأمريكيتين (20 أكتوبر)، ثم المكسيك (27 أكتوبر)، والبرازيل (3 نوفمبر)، ولاس فيجاس (23 نوفمبر)، وأخيرا تعود إلى القارة الآسيوية مثلما بدأت منها، لتقام الجولتان الأخيرتان في حلبة لوسيل الدولية في قطر (1 ديسمبر)، وحلبة مرسى ياس في أبوظبي (8 نوفمبر).
