DFI signs MoU with Qatar Esport Federation to Support E-gaming Community in Qatar

Doha: Doha Film Institute has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with Qatar Esport Federation (QESF) with the goal of promoting the fast-growing electronic gaming community in the country and establishing a culture of creativity and innovation in the sector for athletes.

This will support the thriving gaming industry in the Middle East, and position Qatar as a hub for the sector. With the regions e-gaming sector growing at a compound annual growth rate of 24.5 per cent, three times faster than China, it is also reported that the region has one of the highest share of gaming mobile app downloads at 50 percent compared to the global average of 40 percent.

The MoU was signed by HE president of Qatar Esport Federation Sheikh Abdullah Bin Faleh Al-Thani, and Chief Executive Officer of Doha Film Institute Fatma Hassan AlRemaihi, at a ceremony held at the popular Geekend in Lusail Boulevard.

Through the agreement, the two entities will join hands to strengthen the electronic games industry in Qatar and provide valuable support to aspiring entrepreneurs in this dynamic field. They will also leverage their collective expertise and resources to propel the growth and development of the gaming sector in Qatar and beyond.

الدوحة: وقعت مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام مذكرة تفاهم استراتيجية مع الاتحاد القطري للرياضات الإلكترونية QESF، بهدف تعزيز مجتمع الألعاب الإلكترونية الذي يشهد نموا سريعا في دولة قطر، ونشر ثقافة الإبداع والابتكار في هذا القطاع.

وستساهم هذه الاتفاقية في دعم قطاع الرياضة الإلكترونية المزدهر في الشرق الأوسط، وتعزيز مكانة قطر كمركز رئيسي لهذا القطاع، مع نمو قطاع الألعاب الإلكترونية في المنطقة بمعدل نمو سنوي يبلغ 24.5 في المائة، أي أسرع بثلاث مرات من الصين، وتتمتع هذه المنطقة بواحدة من أعلى معدلات تنزيل تطبيقات الألعاب المحمولة بنسبة 50 في المائة، مقارنة بمعدل العالم والذي يبلغ 40 بالمائة في المتوسط.

وتم التوقيع على مذكرة التفاهم من قبل الشيخ عبد الله بن فالح آل ثاني، رئيس الاتحاد القطري للرياضات الإلكترونية والسيدة فاطمة حسن الرميحي، الرئيس التنفيذي لمؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام.

ومن خلال الاتفاقية، سيتعاون الطرفان لتعزيز صناعة الألعاب الإلكترونية في قطر، وتقديم دعم قيم لرواد الأعمال الطموحين للعمل والارتقاء في هذا المجال الحيوي، والاستفادة كذلك من الخبرات والموارد التي تتمتع بها المؤسستان لدفع نمو وتطوير قطاع الألعاب في دولة قطر وخارجها.

وقال رئيس الاتحاد القطري للرياضات الإلكترونية عقب مراسم التوقيع: “يسعدنا الإعلان عن شراكتنا مع مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام لنوحد جهودنا لرعاية مجتمع الألعاب الإلكترونية، وتمهيد الطريق أمام رواد الأعمال للتطور، والتقدم في مسيرتهم المهنية، وسنواصل العمل بجهد لرفع مستوى مجتمع الرياضات الإلكترونية المحلي، ودفع هذه الصناعة نحو مستوى عال من الاحتراف، لقد أظهرت مواهبنا المميزة بالفعل مهارات وقدرات استثنائية، ومن خلال هذا التعاون مع مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام، سيكتسبون الخبرة اللازمة للتفوق وتعزيز حضورهم على المستوى الدولي، ونتطلع قريبا لمتابعة النتائج المثمرة لهذه الشراكة الرائعة”.

وفي ذات السياق، أوضح السيد فيصل عبد الرحمن خالد أمين السر العام للاتحاد القطري للرياضات الإلكترونية أن هذه الاتفاقية تأتي في إطار استراتيجية الاتحاد منذ مرحلة التأسيس للتعاون مع المؤسسات والشركات الحكومية بهدف تطوير الرياضات الذهنية بين الشباب وتشكيل منتخبات وطنية تمثل الدولة في المحافل الدولية، كما أن هذه الاتفاقية هي بداية لسلسلة من الاتفاقيات القادمة في المستقبل التي نأمل أن ترفع مستوى وعي المجتمع القطري بأهمية الرياضات الذهنية.

بدوره صرح السيد عبد الله المسلم رئيس الشؤون الإدارية في مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام، بأن مذكرة التفاهم مع الاتحاد القطري للرياضات الإلكترونية تعد محطة مهمة تظهر مدى التزامنا بالترويج للقطاعات الإبداعية وخصوصا الألعاب الإلكترونية، وتبرز مكانة قطر الريادية كمركز للرياضات سريعة النمو، ومع الحضور القوي لقطاع الشباب، يعد قطاع الألعاب واحدا من أكثر القطاعات شعبية ومشاركة من قبل الأجيال الشابة، فهدفنا هو بناء مجتمع الألعاب الإلكترونية ودعم الرياضيين الهواة للانتقال إلى الاحتراف، وتوفير بيئة مناسبة لهم لإنشاء مشاريعهم الخاصة في هذا المجال.
