Doha: TOD has announced the launch of its four-part documentary, Qatar 2022, adding to its collection of sports-centric documentaries.
Qatar 2022 offers a glimpse into the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, hosted for the first time in the Arab world. Viewers will follow the historic journey through four episodes of never-before-seen backstage footage, player interactions, and exclusive messages from the organisers.

The series offers a close-up view of tournament organisers, Arab fans, and players through engaging narrative and imagery. The documentary provides an all-access ticket to the FIFA World Cup’s inner workings and offers a distinctive viewpoint on the preparations, logistics, and behind-the-scenes activities of Qatar’s Supreme Committee. It portrays the spirit of the competition and Qatar’s hosting.

The series features notable figures from Qatar’s organising committee. Nasser Al Khater, Chief Executive Officer FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, discussing the tournament’s significance in the series, expressed: “We always said that this competition represented all Arabs. And we were very keen to facilitate in all the spheres that we could the participation of people from the region.” Chairman of the Qatar Supreme Committee’s Operations Office, and Vice Chairman of the Technical Delivery Office Yasir Al-Jamal, said: “There were a lot of pressures, especially as the foreign media campaigns increased. But we worked silently and with complete confidence that the team would be able to produce a World Cup that would honour the state of Qatar.” Qatar 2022 features interviews with top players, coaching staff, and FIFA officials in addition to behind-the-scenes footage. The interviews offer special perspectives on the teams’ tactics and decision-making procedures. Viewers will better grasp how the competition affected the lives of those who participated. The series also captures notable football figures expressing their views of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 experience: Arsene Wenger, FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, said: “For me, an unbelievable experience.” “I have met so many different fans from so many different countries, and everyone has been so excited about football being here, being part of this World Cup. وقال السيد ناصر الخاطر، الرئيس التنفيذي لبطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022: “لطالما أكدنا أن هذه البطولة تمثل كل العرب، حيث حرصنا على تسهيل مشاركة الجماهير والأشخاص المعنيين من مختلف المجالات ومن جميع أنحاء المنطقة لإنجاح هذه البطولة”.

ومن جانبه قال ياسر الجمال، المدير العام للجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث: “واجهنا الكثير من الضغوطات قبل تنظيم كأس العالم 2022 ولا سيما مع تزايد الحملات الإعلامية الأجنبية، ولكننا عملنا بصمت وثقة تامة بقدرة فريق العمل على تقديم بطولة تليق بسمعة دولة قطر”.

وتتيح السلسلة الجديدة، مشاهدة الرحلة التاريخية لتنظيم البطولة، وذلك من خلال عرض أبرز اللقطات خلف الكواليس وتفاعلات اللاعبين والرسائل الحصرية من الجهات المنظمة، ومشاهدة أدق التفاصيل الخاصة برحلة استضافة البطولة التي وصفها الكثيرون بأنها النسخة الأفضل في تاريخ المونديال.

ويتضمن وثائقي “قطر 2022” مقابلات مع نخبة من أفضل اللاعبين والكوادر التدريبية والمسؤولين الرسميين في الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا)، الى جانب استضافة العديد من الشخصيات البارزة في عالم كرة القدم، واستعراض آراءهم ببطولة كأس العالم 2022، التي يصفها آرسين فينغر، رئيس قسم التطوير العالمي لكرة القدم في فيفا، “بالتجربة الاستثنائية”.

وبدوره قال ديفيد بيكهام، أسطورة كرة القدم الإنجليزية: “قابلت عددا كبيرا من المشجعين من مختلف الدول، حيث أعرب الجميع عن سعادتهم بإقامة هذه النسخة من البطولة في قطر ومشاركتهم فيها. وأرى أنها كانت من أكثر النسخ تميزا ونجاحا”.

من جانبه، أكد اللاعب الدولي المغربي أشرف حكيمي لاعب فريق باريس سان جيرمان الفرنسي على تأثير البطولة على تصور الثقافة العربية، حيث يقول: “كانت البطولة بمثابة ملتقى لمختلف الثقافات العالمية وجمعت جماهير العالم العربي مع المشجعين من كل أنحاء العالم الذين تمكنوا من الاحتكاك بالثقافة العربية وأشعر بالفخر والسعادة لتنظيم البطولة في قطر ونجاحها، حيث أظهرت للعالم أجمع الصورة المشرقة للمنطقة العربية”.

ومن جهته، قال ليونيل ميسي، قائد المنتخب الأرجنتيني الذي تُوج بلقب كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022 : “لطالما كان حلمي الفوز بهذه الكأس، ولا شك أن تجربتي في هذا النسخة ليست عادية على الإطلاق، حيث أتاحت لي الفرصة لتحقيق حلمي الشخصي وإسعاد الجماهير الأرجنتينية المتعطشة للفوز”.
