WhatsApp Testing Short Video Messages Feature

Washington: WhatsApp is now testing a unique short messages video feature, which may amaze both Android and iOS users with its unique 60 seconds length ability.

The easiest and quickest method to check if the ability to record a video message is enabled for your WhatsApp account is to tap the microphone button within the chat bar in any conversation: in case it turns into a video camera button, you can already record video messages starting today. When you send or receive a video message, you need to enlarge it by tapping on the video once if you want to listen to the audio, as shown in the attached screenshot. Note that you should ask the recipient to update their version of WhatsApp so they can receive your video messages.

Since a video message is recorded and sent in real-time, it offers a sense of immediacy compared to a pre-recorded video that can be saved for being sent later. When recipients receive a video message, they can perceive it has recently been recorded, which significantly enhances its authenticity This feature also requires version compatibility, which means the send and receive must have the same version or above.

It’s worth noting that video messages are always end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that nobody outside the conversation, not even WhatsApp, can access them. While it is not possible to directly forward video messages through the app, it is still possible to save them by screen recording as they are not sent by using the view once mode.
This feature is available to some beta testers, and it is rolling out to more people over the coming weeks.

الدوحة: يختبر تطبيق /واتساب/ ميزة جديدة تمكن المستخدمين من إرسال رسائل فيديو قصيرة مدتها لا تتجاوز 60 ثانية، وقد رصدت الميزة الجديدة في النسخة التجريبية الأخيرة من التطبيق في أندرويد وآيفون.

ويمكن لمستخدمي النسخة التجريبية حاليا إرسال رسائل الفيديو القصيرة عبر الضغط على أيقونة إرسال الرسائل الصوتية مرة واحدة لتتحول بدورها إلى أيقونة تسجيل الفيديو، وعند الضغط مطولا عليها يمكن للمستخدم تسجيل رسالته في شكل فيديو قصير.

وللرجوع مجددا إلى خيار إرسال الرسائل الصوتية، يضغط المستخدم مرة واحدة على أيقونة تسجيل الفيديو.

وتسجل رسالة الفيديو القصيرة وترسل في الوقت الفعلي، وهو ما يميزها عن مقاطع الفيديو المسجلة سابقا التي يمكن إرسالها في وقت لاحق، فعندما يستقبل المستلم رسالة فيديو قصيرة، سوف يعلم أنها سجلت وأرسلت توا، الأمر الذي يعزز من موثوقيتها وصحتها.

يذكر أن رسائل الفيديو القصيرة تكون مشفرة بتقنية التشفير التام، ما يعني عدم قدرة أي طرف ثالث على الاطلاع عليها مثل باقي رسائل واتساب، كما لا يمكن إعادة توجيه تلك الرسائل إلى جهة اتصال أخرى، ولا يمكن حفظها مباشرة إلا عن طريق تسجيل الشاشة، ومن الممكن أن يضيف مطورو واتساب خيار العرض لمرة واحدة إليها لاحقا.

ويمكن لبعض مستخدمي النسخة التجريبية فقط حاليا تجربة ميزة رسائل الفيديو القصيرة في واتساب، ومن المنتظر أن تتوفر للمزيد من المستخدمين تدريجيا.
