Doha: United Development Company (UDC), the master developer of The Pearl Island and Gewan Island, has been honored with the International Safety Award 2023 by the British Safety Council. This recognition reflects UDC’s outstanding commitment and efforts in the field of health and safety at the workplace.

Amidst fierce competition and with over 2,000 nominations, UDC emerged as one of the 296 organizations worldwide to receive this esteemed award with a Merit.

UDC’s Executive Director of Public Services Eng. Abdullatif Ali Al Yafei and HSSE Director Abdulaziz Al Saey accepted the award at the gala dinner held in London. The event gathered more than 700 attendees, and UDC’s dedication to safety and occupational health on The Pearl and Gewan Islands was recognized and celebrated.

Chief Executive of the British Safety Council Mike Robinson praised UDC for its remarkable achievement in winning the International Safety Award 2023. This prestigious accolade recognizes UDC’s unwavering commitment to adopting the best practices in Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE), and its exceptional efforts in ensuring the safety and well-being of its employees and workplaces.

The International Safety Award honors organizations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to health and safety practices in the workplace. UDC has achieved numerous milestones in this area, including completing 23.5 million man-hours without a lost-time injury and successfully managing major events related to the FIFA World Cup without any significant incidents. Furthermore, UDC has achieved an impressive injury frequency rate of 0.152, surpassing the target objective of 3.15. Additionally, UDC actively participated in the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, organized by the International Labor Organization, which saw the engagement of construction contractors and service providers at The Pearl Island.

الدوحة: فازت الشركة المتحدة للتنمية، المطور الرئيسي لجزيرتي اللؤلؤة وجيوان، بجائزة السلامة الدولية 2023 من مجلس السلامة البريطاني؛ تقديرا لجهودها المبذولة في قطاع الصحة والسلامة المهنية في مقر العمل.

وقد تم الإعلان عن الفائزين من 44 دولة حول العالم، من شتى القطاعات؛ كالإنشاء، والتصنيع، وإنتاج الزيت والغاز، والتعدين، وقطاع الطاقة والمرافق، وجاء فوز الشركة المتحدة للتنمية وسط منافسة شديدة، حيث تلقى مجلس السلامة البريطاني أكثر من 2,000 ترشيح هذا العام، وكانت جزيرة اللؤلؤة وجزيرة جيوان ضمن 296 منظمة فازت بالجائزة بدرجة الجدارة من المجلس.

وتسلم الجائزة ممثلا الشركة المتحدة للتنمية، المهندس عبداللطيف علي اليافعي المدير التنفيذي للخدمات العامة، والسيد عبد العزيز الساعي مدير إدارة الصحة والسلامة والأمن والبيئة، وذلك خلال حفل أقيم في لندن بحضور أكثر من 700 شخص؛ تقديرا لجهود الشركة وتحقيقها أعلى درجات الالتزام بممارسات السلامة والصحة المهنية في جزيرتي اللؤلؤة وجيوان.

وأشاد السيد مايك روبنسون، الرئيس التنفيذي لمجلس السلامة البريطاني، بالإنجاز الذي حققته الشركة، معتبرا أن الحصول على جائزة السلامة الدولية 2023 هو “تقدير لجهود الشركة نظرا لالتزامها بأفضل الممارسات المتبعة في مجال الصحة والسلامة، وتميزها في رعاية موظفيها، والحرص على سلامتهم في مقر العمل، وعدم تعريضهم لأي إصابات أو حوادث”.

وتقدر جوائز السلامة الدولية المنظمات التي أبدت التزاما بممارسات الصحة والسلامة في مقر العمل، حيث إن الشركة المتحدة للتنمية حققت الكثير من الإنجازات في هذا المجال، مثل استكمال 23.5 مليون ساعة عمل دون تسجيل إصابات أو حوادث كبيرة، وكذلك خلال فعاليات كأس العالم، وتحقيق إصابات أقل بنسبة 0.152، أي أقل من المتوقع وهو 3.15، والمساهمة في اليوم العالمي للسلامة والصحة الذي تحتفل به منظمة العمل الدولية بمشاركة متعاقدي الإنشاء ومزودي الخدمات في جزيرة اللؤلؤة.
