Doha: Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) organized a lecture on the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the series of the Education City’s lectures in the presence of HE Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani.
CEO of OpenAI – the company that created ChatGPT – Sam Altman told Qatar Foundations Education City Speaker Series that Artificial intelligence can create “immense” positives for the world and will be an “incredibly powerful” system that can solve the biggest problems facing societies, including addressing climate change, providing education, and eradicating disease.
He shed light on various aspects of Artificial intelligence (AI), such as its role in education, its risks, the inequity of AI technology among developing and developed countries, and expert predictions for what AI will mean for the world in the future.
One audience question spotlighted the issue of fear of change and job losses through AI, with Altman responding: “I think we’re going to manage to get to the other side – we have to – but this is going to be a dramatic change.
“In this next decade, we are going to live through history in a way that we haven’t done in this world. The socio-economic contract is going to change a lot. There is fear, for sure, but it is up to us to figure out how to do good.
“With this technology, there is going to be economic impact – that’s unavoidable. Over time, I think AI will automate more and more jobs; I’m pretty sure that in most of the categories, humans will just operate at a higher level and quality. We’ve seen this with previous technology – computers, for example. And it has been seen that, for the most part, people have been able to just do more and better. I think that is what will happen with AI.”

الدوحة: نظمت مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع محاضرة حول مستقبل الذكاء الاصطناعي، ضمن سلسلة محاضرات المدينة التعليمية، بحضور سعادة الشيخة هند بنت حمد آل ثاني نائب رئيس مجلس الإدارة الرئيس التنفيذي للمؤسسة.
وقال سام ألتمان الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة OpenAI المطورة لروبوت الدردشة “شات جي بي تي” مقدم المحاضرة: إن الذكاء الاصطناعي يمكنه أن يمنح العالم إيجابيات هائلة، وأنه مرشح ليشكل نظاما لم يسبق له مثيل من حيث قدرته على حل أكبر المشكلات التي تواجه المجتمعات، لا سيما ما يتعلق بالتعليم وتداعيات تغير المناخ وعلاج الأمراض.
وتطرق ألتمان إلى تأثير الذكاء الاصطناعي في قطاع التعليم، والمخاطر التي يمكن أن تنجم عنه، إلى جانب مسألة انعدام المساواة فيما يتعلق بتكنولوجيا الذكاء الاصطناعي بين البلدان النامية والمتقدمة، وتوقعات الخبراء بشأن مستقبل الذكاء الاصطناعي.
وعن تنبؤات الخبراء بشأن الذكاء الاصطناعي، قال إنه من الصعب للغاية التنبؤ بشأن مستقبل الذكاء الاصطناعي، مشيرا إلى أنه قبل خمس سنوات كان هناك إجماع من قبل الخبراء حول الأتمتة، مفاده أن الروبوتات ستتولى إنجاز المهمات التي تعتمد على المجهود البدني، وهو ما لم يحدث.
وفيما يتعلق بالمخاوف من فقدان الوظائف بسبب الذكاء الاصطناعي، قال ألتمان: “أعتقد أننا سننجح في تجاوز تلك المرحلة، لكن هذا سيفضي حتما إلى تغيير جذري، فخلال العقد المقبل، سيعيش العالم حقبة جديدة لم يشهد لها التاريخ نظيرا، حيث سيتغير العقد الاجتماعي الاقتصادي كثيرا.. هناك مخاوف، لكن الأمر متروك لنا لمعرفة كيفية استثمار الذكاء الاصطناعي على الوجه الصحيح”.
وأضاف: “سيترتب حتما على تطوير هذه التكنولوجيا تبعات اقتصادية، وهذا أمر لا مفر منه، وبمرور الوقت، أعتقد أن الذكاء الاصطناعي سيقوم بأتمتة المزيد والمزيد من الوظائف، وأؤمن بأن الكوادر البشرية في معظم الفئات ستبقى مطالبة بتحقيق مستوى أعلى من الجودة في أداء المهام المنوطة بها، شهدنا ذلك في السابق، في مرحلة تطوير أجهزة الحاسوب على سبيل المثال، ورأينا أن الناس في الغالب كانوا قادرين على تحقيق المزيد وبصورة أفضل، وهو في اعتقادي ما سيحدث مع الذكاء الاصطناعي أيضا”.
