QNL Lines Up Inspiring Events to Nurture New Literacies During June

Doha: Qatar National Library (QNL) is presenting a series of enlightening and informative events throughout the month of June, which offers insights on parenting, financial and legal literacy, creativity, initiating a book club, and more.

The “Mommy to Be” lecture series, presented by experts and specialists in the field of motherhood, childhood, and health, continues on June 1. “Mommy to Be: Help Me Sleep Through the Night,” will explore the positive effects of sleep on a childs overall wellbeing and assist mothers, particularly working mothers, in managing their time.

The second series of the QNL Engage podcasts, titled “The Role of Libraries in Creating an Educated and Cultured Society” kicks off in June. The first episode on June 4, delves into the importance of financial literacy for the younger generation. Episode 2 on June 11 – “Legal Advice for New Companies” – will shed light on the essential aspects of legal awareness for entrepreneurs and businesses. The third episode, on June 18, will deal with “How to Make AI Accessible”.

As part of the “Art of the Book” event series, the Library, in collaboration with the French Embassy and the Institut Francais, presents a fascinating lecture called the “History of Arab Printing in Europe” on June 6. The session will delve into the scholarly and artistic significance of this cross-cultural exchange.

With a focus on families, the Library presents a compelling session on navigating the adolescent years successfully for children with Down syndrome. The online talk on June 7, will be presented in Arabic language. On 8 June, youth from ages 12 to 18 can learn more about “The Six Thinking Hats” – one of the most important methods of creative thinking. Presented in Arabic, the session will reveal the importance of each hat and its characteristics.
Be prepared to be swept away on an enchanting melodic journey by The Philharmonic at the Library: Harmoniemusik for Wind Octet, on June 14 . Experience the beauty of pieces by Rossini, Haydn, Beethoven, and Dvorak as the Philharmonics musicians bring the spirit of the 18th-century court and salons of Europe to life.

Later in the month on June 20, the “How Do I ” series of talks will look at how to start a book club, providing valuable insights on launching your own reading circle. It will also include tips on how the Library can provide support by offering a curated list of book club titles available in its collections.

الدوحة: تقدم مكتبة قطر الوطنية طوال شهر يونيو المقبل برنامجا حافلا بالفعاليات التثقيفية الزاخرة بالمعلومات المفيدة في مختلف المجالات، وتتضمن بث مدونات صوتية /بودكاست/ حول موضوعات الذكاء الاصطناعي، والثقافة المالية، بالإضافة لباقة متنوعة من الفعاليات تضم جلسات توعوية حول تحديات مرحلة المراهقة للأطفال المصابين بمتلازمة داون، وصحة الأم والطفل، وكيفية إنشاء ناد للكتاب، وغيرها.

وتستهل المكتبة فعالياتها غدا بجلسة جديدة ضمن سلسلة جلسات /أنا وطفلي/ الافتراضية، التي يقدمها عدد من الخبراء والمتخصصين في موضوعات وقضايا صحة الأطفال والأمهات، وتتطرق إلى تأثير النوم على صحة الطفل وتحسين سلوكياته، وكيف أن تنظيم نوم الطفل يساعد الأم في إدارة وقتها، لا سيما الأم العاملة.

كما تقدم المكتبة الموسم الثاني من سلسلة حلقات /بودكاست/ “تفاعل مع المكتبة” بعنوان /دور المكتبات في بناء مجتمع ‏متعلم ومثقف/، وتناقش الحلقة الأولى الأحد المقبل أهمية الثقافة المالية لجيل الشباب، وضرورة اكتساب هذا الجيل المهارات المالية، وتتناول الحلقة الثانية في 11 يونيو نصائح وإرشادات قانونية أساسية للشركات الجديدة، أما الحلقة الثالثة في 18 يونيو فتخصص عن الذكاء الاصطناعي، وسبل نشره، وتوسيع نطاق استخدامه.

وضمن سلسلة محاضرات /فنون الكتب/، تتعاون المكتبة مع السفارة الفرنسية/المعهد الفرنسي في تنظيم محاضرة بتاريخ 6 يونيو حول تاريخ الطباعة باللغة العربية في أوروبا، والأهمية الثقافية والفنية للطباعة بحروف عربية في ‏أوروبا في القرن السادس عشر.

كما تنظم المكتبة في 7 يونيو محاضرة حول سبل اجتياز سنوات المراهقة بنجاح مع أطفال متلازمة داون وأهمية المرحلة، وفي 8 يونيو، يتعرف اليافعون من سن 12 إلى 18 سنة على القبعات الست للتفكير من خلال ورشة تعريفية باللغة العربية حول أهم أساليب التفكير الإبداعي والنقاش الجماعي لتوجيه عملية التفكير ‏نحو هدف واضح.

ويستمع رواد المكتبة في 14 يونيو إلى عزف مقطوعات موسيقية على آلات النفخ من تلحين أشهر الموسيقيين في أوروبا، مثل: روسيني، وهايدن، وبيتهوفن، ودفورجاك، ‏وذلك في الحفل الختامي لموسم حفلات “أوركسترا قطر الفلهارمونية”.

وضمن سلسلة جلساتها التدريبية، تقدم المكتبة في 20 يونيو جلسة بعنوان /إنشاء ناد للكتاب/، ‏يتعرف فيها المشاركون على خطوات إنشاء ناد للكتاب، ونصائح مختلفة لتحديد نشاط نادي الكتاب وأهدافه، والدعم الذي تقدمه المكتبة لأندية الكتب.
