Years of Culture, M7 Invite Qatari Designers to Participate in New CULTUKAR Collaborative Design Residencies

Doha: The Years of Culture Initiative and Qatar Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Design, Fashion and Technology (M7), which are affiliated with Qatar Museums (QM), have announced an open call inviting Qatari fashion designers specializing in embroidery to apply for CULTUKAR, a new collaborative design residency program created to bring cultures together.
As part of the Qatar-Indonesia 2023 Year of Culture, CULTUKAR offers Qatari and Indonesian product and fashion designers a chance to collaborate with peers and traditional craft masters from Indonesia to create bespoke products and fashion items that will be profiled during major industry events later in the year.
The hybrid program spans three months from May-July, including a 10-day onsite workshop in Tasikmalaya in West Java, Indonesia. Participants will take part in various activities, ranging from group discussions, skill apprenticeships, crafter and designer studio visits, to prototype design and development. Participants will also be tasked with considering the challenge of responsible production using sustainable materials and waste management.
Qatar Museums Years of Culture initiative, an annual bilateral cultural exchange program initiated by HE Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Qatar Museums Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani in 2012. The Years of Culture events seek to deepen understanding between Qatar and partner countries through a series of cultural programs and activities.
M7 is Qatar’s epicenter for innovation and entrepreneurship in design, fashion and tech. Established by Qatar Museums, M7 responds to the demands of Qatars growing fashion and design industries, and provides local designers with all the necessary tools and expertise to enable them to take their ideas from concept to market.

الدوحة: أعلن كل من مبادرة الأعوام الثقافية ومركز قطر للابتكار وريادة الأعمال في التصميم والأزياء والتكنولوجيا /M7 /، التابعين لمتاحف قطر، دعوة مفتوحة للمصممين القطريين المتخصصين في التطريز للتقديم في برنامج الإقامة الفنية المشترك الجديد للتصميم / CULTUKAR/، والذي من شأنه أن يربط بين الثقافات، وذلك في إطار العام الثقافي قطر – إندونيسيا 2023.
ويمنح برنامج / CULTUKAR/، الذي يمزج بين ثقافتين لمدة ثلاثة أشهر من شهر مايو الجاري إلى يوليو المقبل، الفرصة لمصممي الأزياء والأعمال الفنية القطريين والإندونيسيين للتعاون مع أقرانهم من المصممين وصانعي الحرف اليدوية لإبداع أعمال وأزياء تعرض خلال مناسبات هامة في وقت لاحق من هذا العام.
ويتضمن البرنامج ورشة عمل لمدة 10 أيام في مدينة /تاسيكمالايا/ الواقعة في جاوة الغربية في إندونيسيا، لاستكشاف الثراء الثقافي لمدينة تاسيكمالايا من خلال الحرف اليدوية، وسيحضر المشاركون أنشطة متنوعة بدءا من المناقشات الجماعية والتدريبات الحرفية والزيارات إلى استوديوهات الحرفيين والمصممين، وحتى تصميم النماذج وتطويرها، وسيكلف المشاركون بمناقشة تحديات الإنتاج المسؤول بيئيا باستخدام المواد المستدامة وإدارة النفايات.
الجدير بالذكر أن مبادرة الأعوام الثقافية أطلقتها سعادة الشيخة المياسة بنت حمد آل ثاني رئيس مجلس أمناء متاحف قطر في عام 2012، وهي تبادل ثنائي سنوي يعمق التفاهم بين قطر ودولة شريكة خلال عام من الفعاليات والأنشطة الثقافية.
ومركز قطر للابتكار وريادة الأعمال في التصميم والأزياء والتكنولوجيا /M7/ قد أنشأته متاحف قطر، ويستجيب لمتطلبات صناعات الأزياء والتصميم المتنامية في قطر، ويوفر /M7/ للمصممين المحليين جميع الأدوات والخبرات اللازمة لتمكينهم من نقل أفكارهم من المفهوم إلى السوق.
