QNCECS Wraps up Qatari Environment Ambassadors Project

Doha: Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science (QNCECS) celebrated Monday the conclusion of the Qatari Environment Ambassadors project.
Held in collaboration with the Alshabhanah Environmental Association, the project targeted students of schools of both the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Addressing the closing ceremony at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, QNCECS’ Acting Secretary-General Ali Abdul Razzaq Marafie expressed his appreciation for claimants of the Qatari Environment Ambassador title.
Marafie said that sustainable environmental development is one of the main pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030, stressing the need to find a balance between development needs and environmental protection, through programs, activities and projects undertaken by various state agencies.
He added that Islam stresses the necessity of preserving the environment and cultural heritage with its intellectual and material components, based on its great role in shaping the national identity. He also highlighted the Holy Qur’an’s explicit calls for reconstructing the earth, not devastating its natural elements.
The QNCECS has been keen to develop a leading role in supporting environmental education within the framework of sustainable development, and preserving the national heritage in both its tangible and intangible parts, Marafie said, highlighting the targeted schools’ annual executive plans that include programs and competitions on environment aimed at raising awareness among students of the importance of the environment and its preservation.
Secretary of the Alshabhanah Environmental Association Haya Al Madadi, who supervises the project, said the project had trained students, aged from 14 to 18, to preserve the environment, by holding awareness workshops and various environmental activities.
The training workshops, in cooperation with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), covered a variety of topics like plantable pencils, e-waste and school tree planting, as well as visits to both the Qur’anic Botanic Garden, and visiting the Wadi Park Natural Reserve in Al Wajba East, Al Maadadi added.
Launched on the occasion of the Qatar Environment Day, the Qatari Environment Ambassadors project aims to achieve environmental development, spread environmental culture among Qatari young people and prepare the child and youth environmental trainers and educators to achieve sustainability and consolidate the national identity.

الدوحة: احتفلت اللجنة الوطنية القطرية للتربية والثقافة والعلوم، بالتعاون مع رابطة /الشبهانة البيئية/ بختام مشروع /سفراء البيئة القطرية/ الموجه لطلبة المدارس المنتسبة للمنظمة العربية للتربية والثقافة والعلوم /الألكسو/ والمدارس المنتسبة لمنظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة /اليونسكو/.
وأعرب السيد علي عبد الرزاق المعرفي القائم بمهام الأمين العام للجنة الوطنية القطرية للتربية والثقافة والعلوم، في كلمة خلال الحفل الذي أقيم في وزارة التربية والتعليم والتعليم العالي، عن تقديره للفائزين بلقب /سفير البيئة القطرية/، والذي جاء نتاج مشروع /سفراء البيئة القطرية/ الذي تم إطلاقه بمناسبة يوم البيئة القطري.
وأكد أن التنمية البيئية المستدامة هي إحدى الركائز الأساسية لرؤية قطر الوطنية 2030، مشددا على ضرورة إيجاد علاقة توازن بين احتياجات التنمية وحماية البيئة، من خلال البرامج والأنشطة والمشروعات التي تقوم بها مختلف مؤسسات الدولة لتحقيق هذا الهدف.
وأشار إلى أن الشريعة الإسلامية نبهت إلى ضرورة الحفاظ على البيئة بعناصرها الطبيعية، إلى جانب تراثنا الحضاري بمكوناته الفكرية والمادية من آثار وتراث الأجداد، لما له من دور كبير في تشكيل الهوية الوطنية لأبناء هذا الوطن، حيث جاءت دعوة القرآن الكريم صريحة لتعمير الأرض وليس تدميرها والعدوان على مكوناتها الطبيعية.
وقال:” إن اللجنة الوطنية القطرية للتربية والثقافة والعلوم حرصت منذ وقت مبكر على أن يكون لها دورها الرائد في دعم التربية البيئية في إطار التنمية المستدامة، والحفاظ على التراث الوطني بشقيه المادي وغير المادي، حيث تم إعداد خطة تنفيذية سنوية لتلك المدارس تتضمن برامج ومسابقات حول البيئة، وبما يسهم في تنمية الوعي لدى الطلبة بأهمية البيئة والحفاظ عليها”.
من جهتها، استعرضت الدكتورة هيا المعضادي أمين سر رابطة /الشبهانة البيئية المشرفة على مشروع /سفراء البيئة القطرية/، فكرة المشروع القائمة على تدريب الطلاب من سن 14- 18 عاما للحفاظ على البيئة، من خلال تدريبهم على تقديم ورش توعوية وتنفيذ أنشطة بيئية مختلفة.
وبينت أن الورش التدريبية التي تضمنها المشروع هي ورشة زراعة الأقلام، وورشة النفايات الإلكترونية، وورشة الزراعة في المدرسة، وورشة زيارة حديقة القرآن النباتية، وورشة زيارة محمية الوادي – الوجبة، بالتعاون مع هيئة الأشغال العامة.
يذكر أن مشروع سفراء البيئة القطرية يهدف إلى تحقيق رؤية قطر في ركيزة التنمية البيئية، ونشر الثقافة البيئية بين النشء، وإعداد مدربين ومثقفين بيئيين من فئة الأطفال والشباب لتحقيق الاستدامة، وترسيخ وتعزيز الهوية الوطنية والنباتية بشكل خاص.
