HBKU’s TII Announces Language Courses for Summer 2023

The Language Center at TII offers best-in-class foreign language education for all proficiency levels

Doha, May 11, 2023 – To promote multilingualism and a culture of lifelong learning, the Language Center at the Translation and Interpreting Institute (TII), part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), has opened registration for its summer 2023 courses in 12 world languages.

Commencing 14 May, language programs available to adults are Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish. The courses suit all levels of ability, ranging from beginner to advanced levels, and can be taken for personal enrichment as well as professional development. With this in mind, the Language Center’s course offerings provide a variety of formats and content, including language for travel and business purposes.

A communicative and student-focused approach provides participants with opportunities to develop four in-demand skills – speaking, listening, reading, and writing. TII’s highly-qualified and experienced professionals use up-to-date methodologies, course-driven methods, and new technologies to offer an immersive, engaging classroom experience alongside a fascinating introduction to the culture. This approach furthers the center’s mission to enable trainees to acquire a language in its cultural context.

During the registration period, Dr. Ameena Hussain, Director of the Language Center at TII, said: “We look forward to welcoming both old and new students to our summer classes. Since its inception in 2012, the Language Center has provided language classes to more than 15,000 children, youths and adults. مركز اللغات بالمعهد يُقدم أفضل تجربة تعليمية للغات الأجنبية لجميع المستويات

الدوحة، في 11 مايو 2023: في إطار دوره الرائد لتعزيز التعدّدية اللغوية ونشر ثقافة التعلم مدى الحياة، يستعدّ مركز اللغات التابع لمعهد دراسات الترجمة في كلية العلوم الإنسانية والاجتماعية بجامعة حمد بن خليفة، لفتح باب التسجيل للالتحاق بدورات صيف 2023 في 12 لغة عالمية.

وابتداءً من 14 مايو، ستُتاح دورات اللغات للكبار في: الإسبانية والإنجليزية والإيطالية والبرتغالية والروسية والكورية والروسية والصينية (الماندرين) والعربية والفرنسية واليابانية، حيث تناسب الدورات جميع المستويات، بداية من المستويات المبتدئة وصولًا إلى المستويات المتقدمة، ويمكن الاستفادة من هذه الدورات في تطوير المهارات الشخصية وتعزيز القدرات المهنية، كما توفّر هذه الدورات مجموعة متنوعة من حيث الأسلوب والمضمون، بما في ذلك تعلُّم لغة ما لأغراض السفر وممارسة الأعمال.

يتيح المنهج التفاعلي الذي يستهدف فئة الطلاب والمهتمّين، فرصًا لتطوير أربع مهارات رئيسية، هي: المحادثة، والاستماع، والقراءة، والكتابة. ففي معهد دراسات الترجمة، يستخدم الخبراء من ذوي المؤهلات رفيعة المستوى، و منهجيات وأساليب حديثة وتقنيات جديدة بُغية منح المشاركين تجربة مميّزة في الفصل الدراسي، إلى جانب اطلاعهم على مفاهيم ثقافية جديدة، حيث إنّ هذا المنهج يدعم مهمّة المركز الذي يسعى لتمكين المتدربين من اكتساب اللغات في سياقها الثقافي.

وتعليقا على فتح باب التسجيل، قالت الدكتورة أمينة حسين، مدير مركز اللغات في معهد دراسات الترجمة: “نتطلع إلى الترحيب بالطلاب القدامى والجدد في فصولنا الصيفية، حيث يتم تقديم برامجنا من قبل معلمين متمرسين، ملتزمين بجودة التعلُم باستخدام أحدث المناهج الدراسية المدمجة بالأبعاد الثقافية للغات التي يتم تقديمها للطلاب، ومنذ إنشائه في عام 2012، قدم مركز اللغات دورات دراسية لغوية لأكثر من 15000 طفل وشاب وبالغ، وسواء كنت تتعلم من أجل المتعة الشخصية والتواصل مع الشعوب الأخرى، أو لتعزيز الطموحات المهنية المستقبلية، فنحن على ثقة من أن دورات اللغة لدينا ستلبي توقعات طلابنا”.

وتُعقد الفصول الدراسية في مبنى بنروز هاوس بالمدينة التعليمية وعبر الإنترنت، وعلى الطلاب الذين لديهم دراية مسبقة بلغة ما، إجراء اختبار لتحديد المستوى والدورة الأنسب لهم.
