“Qatar CSR Summit” kicks off on Tuesday the 16th in Qatar University

Doha, 7 May 2023: Qatar University revealed today the details of the upcoming “Qatar CSR Summit” set to be held Under the Patronage of H.E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar at the Students Affairs Building (I11) in Qatar University from 16 to 18 May.

During a press conference held at the College of Business and Economics in Qatar University, Dr. Rana Sobh, Dean of College, and Chairman of the steering committee of the conference said: “We have made sure that this event acts as an accelerator for the university’s goals in pushing forward a sustainable business model in Qatar.” Dr. Sobh added: “the conference’s agenda with the topics it covers and the speakers that will be contributing raises awareness about corporate social responsibility among all stakeholders, including academics and scholars, students, business owners, and the community in general.” In details, Dr. Sobh explained that the main themes of the conference include business education and societal impact, ESG, sustainability, circular economy, CSR from an Islamic perspective, SDG, and many other important topics through a series of presentations, papers, and panel discussions.

In addition to the academic exchange it will allow, the conference will also provide a platform for the pioneering national companies leading the CSR efforts in the country to introduce their activities in this field and showcase the best practices that allowed such companies to integrate CSR into their core business.

According to the organizers, IFP Qatar and Mubadara for Social Impact, “Qatar CSR Summit” represents the latest addition to Qatar CSR National Program that Qatar University has been hosting for the past ten years, in an attempt to further develop the program’s activities and its impact, with the intention of promoting the concept of conducting business in a socially responsible manner, and to provide an effective platform for businessmen, thought leaders, and academia to convene and discuss together the ways of encouraging setting up and developing socially responsible businesses that apply the principles of CSR and ESG in their daily operations.

With the addition of the summit to the activities of the program, the 10th edition of Qatar CSR National Program will now include in addition to the conference an exhibition the Qatar CSR National Report prepared under the guidance and supervision of the College of Business and Economics at Qatar University. Jack Saba, General Manager of Mubadara for Social Impact said: “This academic report documents the achievements of national organizations in the field of social responsibility and monitors the progress in social development and Qatar National Vision 2030 goals. On the other hand, the Qatar CSR Awards aims at recognizing the achievements contributing to the development of CSR and sustainability in Qatar. In this regard, Haidar Mshaimesh, General Manager of IFP Qatar announced that this year’s edition of the program will be concluded with the Awards Gala Dinner that will be held in the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel on Thursday the 18^th of May. Mshaimesh revealed that the Awards program received close to 100 applications, out of which 30 will be awarded across different categories. The ceremony will also pay recognition to the event’s sponsors and supporters.

الدوحة، 7 مايو 2023: كشفت جامعة قطر عن تفاصيل “مؤتمر ومعرض قطر للمسؤولية الإجتماعية” الذي تستضيفه الجامعة تحت رعاية معالي الشيخ محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن جاسم آل ثاني، رئيس مجلس الوزراء ووزير الخارجية، من 16 إلى 18 مايو الحالي في مجمع شؤون الطلاب (I11) في الجامعة. جاء ذلك خلال مؤتمر صحفي في كلية الإدارة والإقتصاد في الجامعة شاركت فيه عميد الكلية، الأستاذة الدكتورة رنا صبح، وعدد من ممثلي الجهات الراعية والمشاركة.

وفي التفاصيل، قالت الدكتورة رنا صبح، عميد كلية الإدارة والإقتصاد في جامعة قطر، ورئيسة اللجنة التوجيهية للمؤتمر أنّ الجامعة حرصت على أن يخدم المؤتمر أهداف الكلية في الدفع نحو نموذج أعمال أخلاقي أكثر إستدامة، مشيرة إلى أن أجندة المؤتمر بما تتضمّنه من محاور تساهم في تعزيز ثقافة المسؤولية الإجتماعية بين جميع أصحاب المصلحة بما في ذلك الأكاديميين والطلاب وأصحاب الأعمال والمجتمع بشكل عام. وأشارت الدكتورة صبح إلى أن المؤتمر سيغطي مواضيع المسؤولية الإجتماعية في التعليم وإدارة الأعمال، والحوكمة البيئية والإجتماعية، والإستدامة، والإقتصاد الدائري، والمسؤولية الإجتماعية من منظور إسلامي، وسواها من المواضيع الهامة من خلال سلسلة من المحاضرات وأوراق العمل وجلسات النقاش التي تشارك فيها مجموعة من الخبراء والأكاديميين من قطر والعالم.

وإضافة إلى النقاشات العلمية والأكاديمية، سيوفر المؤتمر منصة لنخبة الشركات الوطنية الرائدة في مجال المسؤولية الإجتماعية للتعريف ببرامجها ونشاطاتها في هذا المجال، وإستعراض أفضل الممارسات والأمثلة على الكيفية التي نجحت فيها هذه الشركات بالمواءمة بين تحمل مسؤولياتها الإجتماعية والمحافظة على ربحية الأعمال.

ويأتي “مؤتمر ومعرض قطر للمسؤولية الاجتماعية” ضمن فعاليات الموسم العاشر من البرنامج الوطني للمسؤولية الاجتماعية في قطر بمبادرة من مؤسسة مبادرة للمسؤولية المجتمعية، ومن تنظيم الشركة الدولية للمعارض – قطر. وإضافة إلى المعرض والمؤتمر، تشمل فعاليات هذه السنة من البرنامج إصدار التقرير الوطني للمسؤولية الاجتماعية في قطر. حيث لفت جاك سابا، مدير عام مبادرة للمسؤولية المجتمعية إلى أن التقرير يوثق إنجازات المنظمات الوطنية في مجال المسؤولية الإجتماعية ويرصد التقدم في التنمية الإجتماعية ورؤية قطر الوطنية 2030، ويبرز إنجازات مختلف المؤسسات في مجال المسؤولية الاجتماعية.

كذلك، لفت حيدر مشيمش، مدير عام الشركة الدولية للمعارض – قطر إلى أنّ فعاليات الحدث سوف تختتم بالإعلان عن جوائز قطر للمسؤولية الاجتماعية الذي سيتم خلال حفل عشاء رسمي سيقام مساء يوم 18 مايو في فندق ومنتجع الشيراتون، مشيراً في هذا الإطار إلى تلقّي اللجنة المنظمة ما يقرب من 100 مبادرة مرشّحة سوف يتم اختيار 30 منها للفوز بجائزة قطر للمسؤولية الاجتماعية في فئات مختلفة، فضلاً عن تكريم الرعاة والمساهمين في دعم ورعاية الحدث.
