Audio Education Complex Unveils Range of Events to Mark Arab Deaf Week

Doha: The activities of the Arab Deaf Week kicked off on Sunday at the Audio Education Complex (Boys & Girls)) of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
Organized within the annual celebration of the 48th session of Arab Deaf Week, the event is held this year under the theme of “The Importance of Modern Technology in Educating the Death and Improving their Culture”, in the presence of affiliates of the complex, schools, guardians and media.
Addressing the attendees, Director of the Special Education and Gifted Care Department at MoEHE Fatima Al Saadi underscored that the State of Qatar and its wise leadership are committed to supporting and caring for all persons with disabilities, in addition to providing all means of comfort, health, psychological, social and educational care to them based on the best systems and strategies, as per international standards and specifications.
The celebrations of the Arab Deaf Week will feature a wide range of events at the Audio Education Complex (girls), including workshops on internet risks, along with an electronic and cultural contest for affiliates, hearing impairment and hearing aids.
In addition, a delegation from the US Embassy in Qatar will pay a visit to the venue in order to share expertise and get familiarized with the Qatari experience in caring for deaf persons. The event will also feature a workshop on disseminating sign language, in addition to organizing the 1st edition of the sign language challenge contest, a cultural contest in the Arabic language, a workshop for students on robot programming, as well as numerous cultural, artistic and recreational activities for affiliates.
A panel discussion was held Sunday morning under the theme of the importance of modern technology in educating and upgrading the culture of the deaf, with the participation of a contingent of professional academics and activists in the area of persons with disabilities.
The event featured the presentation of flagship programs and technologies utilized in the complex in accordance with the state-of-the-art technologies and international specifications on strategies and phases of applying e-education that has been used in the Audio Education Complex since the implementation of the initiative and remote learning mechanisms.
The activity also explained the methods of applying the Qatar system for education, along with the most important features of the system in supporting the educational process to educate persons with hearing impairment and develop students’ capabilities who enjoy technological innovations.
The Arab Deaf Week is annually organized by the end of April to focus on the issues encountering deaf persons, raising awareness of their rights and abilities, providing care to them, supporting their empowerment in the community, as well as highlighting their talents and potential.

الدوحة: انطلقت صباح اليوم فعاليات الأسبوع العربي للأصم بمجمع التربية السمعية (بنين وبنات) التابع لوزارة التربية والتعليم والتعليم العالي، وذلك ضمن الاحتفال السنوي بالأسبوع العربي للأصم في دورته الـ48، والذي يقام هذا العام تحت : “أهمية التقنيات الحديثة في تعليم ورفع مستوى ثقافة الصم”، بحضور منتسبي المجمع والمدارس وأولياء الأمور ووسائل الإعلام.
وأكدت السيدة فاطمة الساعدي القائم بمهام مدير إدارة التربية الخاصة بوزارة التربية والتعليم والتعليم العالي، في كلمة بالمناسبة، حرص دولة قطر وقيادتها الرشيدة على دعم ورعاية جميع الأشخاص من ذوي الإعاقات المختلفة، وتوفير كل سبل الراحة والرعاية الصحية والنفسية والاجتماعية والتعليمية لهم وفق أفضل الأنظمة والاستراتيجيات حسب المعايير والمواصفات العالمية.
وستشمل احتفالات “أسبوع الأصم العربي” في مجمع التربية السمعية (بنات) عددا من الفعاليات، أبرزها ورشة عن مخاطر الإنترنت، ومسابقة ثقافية إلكترونية للمنتسبين، وورشة عمل عن الإعاقة السمعية والمعينات السمعية وزيارة وفد من السفارة الأمريكية بالدولة بهدف تبادل الخبرات والاطلاع على التجربة القطرية في رعاية فئة الصم، وورشة عن نشر لغة الإشارة، إضافة إلى تنظيم النسخة الأولى من مسابقة تحدي لغة الإشارة، ومسابقة ثقافية في اللغة العربية، وورش تدريبية للطلبة عن برمجة الروبوت والعديد من الأنشطة الثقافية والفنية والترفيهية للمنتسبين.
وعقدت صباح اليوم حلقة نقاشية بعنوان (أهمية التقنيات الحديثة في تعليم ورفع مستوى ثقافة الصم) بمشاركة نخبة من الأكاديميين المختصين والناشطين في مجال ذوي الإعاقة، شهدت استعراض أبرز البرامج والتقنيات المستخدمة في المجمع وفقا لأحدث التقنيات والمواصفات العالمية عن استراتيجيات ومراحل تطبيق التعليم الإلكترونية في مجمع التربية السمعية، منذ تطبيق المبادرة وآليات التعلم عن بعد ، وشرح تطبيق نظام قطر للتعليم وأهم المميزات في النظام لدعم العملية التعليمية في تعليم ذوي الإعاقة السمعية وتنمية الطلاب الذين لديهم إبداعات تكنولوجية وذلك تحت شعار نادي الابتكار الإلكتروني بنظام قطر للتعليم.
يذكر أن الأسبوع العربي للأصم يتم الاحتفال به في نهاية شهر أبريل سنويًا؛ بهدف التركيز على قضايا الصم، والتوعية بحقوقهم وقدراتهم، وتقديم الرعاية لهم، ودعم تمكينهم في المجتمع، وإظهار مواهبهم وإمكاناتهم.
