Qatar Participates in Delphi Economic Forum in Athens

Athens: The State of Qatar participated in the Delphi Economic Forum, which is being held in the Greek capital, Athens, in the presence of HE President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
The State of Qatar’s delegation to the forum was headed by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi.

In a speech during a session on international affairs at the forum, His Excellency thanked the friendly government and people of Greece for the warm reception and hospitality, and thanked Symeon G. Tsomokos, founder and president of the Delphi Forum and his team for their efforts in preparing this forum.

His Excellency said that the forum is taking place at a critical period in which global challenges have multiplied at the economic, humanitarian, social and development levels, which undoubtedly have an impact on the system of international relations and the security and well-being of all peoples, pointing out that in the context of disturbing trends and international and regional conflicts, teamwork and multilateral cooperation remain indispensable for addressing various and interrelated challenges.

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs stressed that economic, social or environmental reform cannot take place in isolation from strengthening international security and creating a stable international political environment. He expressed hope that the forum deliberations would take this into account to come up with common directions that helps build a new and safer world with justice, freedom and development, and international human solidarity prevailing, to ensure a prosperous future for all people.

His Excellency stressed that the depth of human civilization is the decisive response to calls for isolationism, extremism, intolerance, marginalization of international law, preference for narrow interests over the values of one world, one humanity, respect for international law, and the principles of the United Nations Charter, especially respect for the sovereignty of states and the inadmissibility of using Force or the threat of its use in international relations.

His Excellency explained that the delegation of the State of Qatar came to this esteemed forum to actively participate in its activities, talk with economists and policy makers, and explore prospects for future cooperation to achieve common goals and interests for all. His Excellency renewed the State of Qatar’s commitment to continue its international role in various avenues, whether developmental, humanitarian, environmental, or in human rights.

His Excellency said that the State of Qatar, in its capacity as the holder of the second largest gas reserves in the world, responded to the global energy crisis by increasing gas production and expanding partners, including European partners, and thus contributed to strategies to reduce greenhouse gases at the global level, since gas is a clean energy and a moderate price.

He said that the State of Qatar gives priority to mediation efforts to resolve regional and international disputes, revitalize dialogues, multilateral conferences, cultural activity and intellectual production in general, pointing out that the State of Qatar is proud of hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which was held for the first time in the Middle East and the Arab region, and what this sporting event constituted as a prominent occasion to spread a message of welcome to millions of the world’s population, and to promote the values of peace, development and understanding among all the peoples of the world.

His Excellency touched on two issues of concern to the world, the first being the war in Ukraine, stressing the firm position of the State of Qatar on the need to adhere to the United Nations Charter and the established principles of international law and to renounce violence and aggression against the sovereignty of states, stressing the need to respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. His Excellency added that elongating the war will increase the number of victims, and multiply its dire effects on the global economy and international stability, peace and security. His Excellency said that Qatar is ready to contribute to any international and regional effort aimed at finding an immediate peaceful solution to this crisis.

The second subject His Excellency touched upon was the Palestinian cause. He said that the Israeli occupation and their racist practices call for serious action from the international community to reach a peaceful, fair, and comprehensive settlement of the issue by establishing a Palestinian state on the borders of 1967 with East Al Quds as its capital and a fair resolution to the issue of refugees.

His Excellency concluded by saying that there was no way through which a new world that is safer, more just, free and developmental can be built except through international solidarity and sustainable development for all.

أثينا: شاركت دولة قطر في منتدى دلفي الاقتصادي الذي يعقد في العاصمة اليونانية أثينا بحضور فخامة الرئيسة إيكاترينا ساكيلاروبولو رئيسة الجمهورية اليونانية.

ترأس وفد دولة قطر في المنتدى، سعادة السيد سلطان بن سعد المريخي وزير الدولة للشؤون الخارجية.

وتوجه سعادته في كلمة خلال جلسة حول “الشؤون الدولية” بالمنتدى، بالشكر لحكومة وشعب اليونان الصديق على حسن الاستقبال وكرم الضيافة، وشكر السيد سايمون تسوموكوس مؤسس ورئيس منتدى دلفي وفريقه على جهودهم في حسن الإعداد لهذا المنتدى.

وقال سعادته إن أعمال هذا المنتدى تنعقد في فترة حرجة تضاعفت فيها التحديات العالمية على المستوى الاقتصادي والإنساني والاجتماعي والتنموي والتي لها دون أدنى شك تأثير على منظومة العلاقات الدولية وأمن ورفاه جميع الشعوب، مشيرا إلى أنه في سياق الاتجاهات المقلقة والنزاعات الدولية والإقليمية، يبقى العمل الجماعي والتعاون المتعدد الأطراف أمرا لا غنى عنه للتصدي للتحديات المختلفة والمترابطة.

وأكد وزير الدولة للشؤون الخارجية، أنه لا يمكننا الحديث عن إصلاح اقتصادي أو اجتماعي أو بيئي بمعزل عن تعزيز الأمن الدولي وخلق بيئة سياسية دولية مستقرة، وأعرب عن الأمل في أن تأخذ مداولات المنتدى ذلك بالاعتبار لنخرج بتوجهات وتصورات مشتركة لإثراء وتعزيز الجهود لبناء عالم جديد أكثر أمانا وعدلا وحرية وتنمية، ويسوده التضامن الدولي الإنساني، والمستقبل المزدهر المشترك لشعوبنا.

وركز سعادته على أن العمق الحضاري الإنساني للشعوب هو الرد الحاسم على دعوات الانعزالية، والتطرف، والتعصب، وتهميش القانون الدولي، وتفضيل المصالح الضيقة على قيم العالم الواحد، والإنسانية الواحدة، واحترام القانون الدولي، ومبادئ ميثاق الأمم المتحدة، وخاصة احترام سيادة الدول وعدم جواز استخدام القوة أو التهديد باستخدامها في العلاقات الدولية.

وأوضح سعادته أن وفد دولة قطر جاء إلى هذا المنتدى الموقر ليشارك بفعالية في نشاطاته ويتحاور مع الاقتصاديين وصناع السياسات ويستكشف آفاق التعاون المستقبلي لتحقيق الأهداف والمصالح المشتركة للجميع، وتابع: نؤكد بهذه المناسبة التزام دولة قطر بمواصلة دورها النشط في العمل الدولي المشترك في مختلف المجالات التنموية، والإنسانية، والبيئية، وحقوق الإنسان.

وقال سعادته، إن دولة قطر باعتبارها صاحبة ثاني احتياطي عالمي في الغاز، فإنها استجابت لأزمة الطاقة العالمية من خلال زيادة إنتاج الغاز وتوسيع الشركاء، ومن ضمنهم الشركاء الأوروبيون، وساهمت بذلك في استراتيجيات الحد من غازات الاحتباس الحراري على الصعيد العالمي كون الغاز طاقة نظيفة ومعتدلة السعر.

وذكر أن دولة قطر تعطي أولوية لجهود الوساطة لحل النزاعات الإقليمية والدولية، وتنشيط الحوارات والمؤتمرات المتعددة الأطراف والنشاط الثقافي والإنتاج الفكري بشكل عام، مشيرا إلى أن دولة قطر تفخر باستضافتها لبطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، والتي أقيمت للمرة الأولى في منطقة الشرق الأوسط والمنطقة العربية، وما شكله هذا الحدث الرياضي من مناسبة بارزة لنشر رسالة ترحيب لملايين من سكان العالم، والترويج لقيم السلام والتنمية والتفاهم بين كافة شعوب العالم.

وعرج سعادته على موضوعين يثيران قلق العالم، الأول هو الحرب في أوكرانيا، مؤكدا موقف دولة قطر الثابت بضرورة الالتزام بميثاق الأمم المتحدة والمبادئ الراسخة للقانون الدولي ونبذ العنف والاعتداء على سيادة الدول، ونشدد على ضرورة احترام سيادة أوكرانيا وسلامة أراضيها في حدودها المعترف بها دوليا. فدوام الحرب سوف يزيد من عدد الضحايا، كما يضاعف آثارها الوخيمة على الاقتصاد العالمي وعلى الاستقرار والسلم والأمن الدولي. ونعبر عن استعداد دولة قطر الكامل للمساهمة في أي جهد دولي وإقليمي يرمي إلى إيجاد حل سلمي فوري لهذه الأزمة.

وأضاف: الموضوع الثاني هو القضية الفلسطينية، الجرح النازف في ضمير الإنسانية منذ أن تأسست الأمم المتحدة، فالاحتلال الإسرائيلي وممارساته العنصرية تستوجب وقفة جادة من المجتمع الدولي من أجل تحقيق تسوية سلمية شاملة وعادلة للقضية الفلسطينية بإقامة الدولة الفلسطينية على حدود عام 1967 وعاصمتها القدس الشرقية، والحل العادل لمسألة اللاجئين.

وأكد سعادة السيد سلطان بن سعد المريخي وزير الدولة للشؤون الخارجية، أنه ليس ثمة سبيل نتمكن من خلاله من بناء عالم جديد أكثر أمانا وعدلا وحرية وتنمية لنا ولأجيالنا القادمة سوى سبيل التضامن الدولي والتنمية المستدامة للجميع.
