Ramadan Book Fair: A symposium Reviews Education Process in Qatar

Doha: At the beginning of the activities of the 2nd edition of Ramadan Book Fair, which is currently being held at Darb Al-Saai in Umm Salal, a symposium was held on the education process in Qatar and its cultural and enlightening role in society.
The symposium was attended by HE Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani, HE Minister of Justice Masoud bin Mohammed Al Ameri, HE Minister of State and Qatar National Library president Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, and HE President of Qatar University Dr. Hassan bin Rashid Al Derham.
HE Former Minister of Education Dr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Turki Al Subaie participated in the symposium, which was moderated by Hassan Al-Saee, a journalist.
During his speech, His Excellency discussed the most important historical stages that education in the State of Qatar went through, stressing that the education process in Qatar was linked to the establishment of the first regular school in 1951, which was followed by the expansion of the opening of schools in stages, and then the establishment of the Department of Knowledge to supervise education, and the establishment of the Ministry of Education in early 1957 as the first Ministry of Education in the history of the country. It changed its name more than once to become the Ministry of Education and Youth Welfare, then the Ministry of Education, then the Ministry of Education and Culture, all the way to its current name, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
HE Dr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Turki Al Subaie dealt, during his speech, with the next stages in the education renaissance in Qatar, touching on the many achievements of the Ministry of Education, the most important of which is the development of cultural and intellectual awareness in the country, the allocation of cultural seasons, and the invitation of many Arab innovators and thinkers who have made Doha a cultural and intellectual arena in various fields.
HE Dr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Turki Al Subaie touched on the most prominent achievement which is the establishment of Qatar University, where he explained that the story of the establishment of the university went through several stages, as the final opinion was settled by relying on the people of the country to establish a national university that includes two colleges, one for teachers, and the other for female teachers, to be the nucleus of higher education in Qatar, and its beginning, due to the urgent need of the Ministry of Education for male and female teachers, praising the current status of the university and the great development witnessed by the education sector in the country.

الدوحة: أقيمت الليلة ندوة حول مسيرة التعليم في قطر ودوره الثقافي والتنويري في المجتمع وذلك في مستهل أنشطة معرض رمضان للكتاب في نسخته الثانية والمقام حاليا بدرب الساعي في أم صلال.
حضر الندوة سعادة الشيخ عبدالرحمن بن حمد آل ثاني وزير الثقافة، وسعادة السيد مسعود بن محمد العامري وزير العدل، وسعادة الدكتور حمد بن عبدالعزيز الكواري وزير الدولة ورئيس مكتبة قطر الوطنية، وسعادة الدكتور حسن بن راشد الدرهم رئيس جامعة قطر.
استضافت الندوة سعادة الدكتور عبدالعزيز بن عبدالله بن تركي السبيعي وزير التربية والتعليم الأسبق وأدارها الإعلامي حسن الساعي.
تناول سعادته خلال كلمته أهم المراحل التاريخية التي مر بها التعليم في دولة قطر، مؤكدا أن مسيرة التعليم في قطر ارتبطت بتأسيس أول مدرسة نظامية عام 1951 أعقبها التوسع في افتتاح المدارس على مراحل، ثم إنشاء دائرة المعارف للإشراف على التعليم، مرورا بإنشاء وزارة المعارف مطلع عام 1957 كأول وزارة للتعليم في تاريخ البلاد، والتي تغير مسماها أكثر من مرة ليصبح وزارة التربية والتعليم ورعاية الشباب، ثم وزارة التربية والتعليم، ثم وزارة التربية والتعليم والثقافة، وصولا إلى مسماها الحالي وزارة التربية والتعليم والتعليم العالي.
كما تناول سعادة الدكتور عبدالعزيز بن عبدالله بن تركي السبيعي خلال كلمته المراحل التالية في نهضة التعليم في قطر متوقفا على الكثير من الإنجازات لوزارة التعليم وأهمها تنمية الوعي الثقافي والفكري في البلاد، وتخصيص مواسم ثقافية، ودعوة الكثير من المبدعين والمفكرين العرب الذين جعلوا من الدوحة ساحة ثقافية وفكرية في مختلف المجالات.
ومن أبرز المحطات التي توقف أمامها سعادة الدكتور عبدالعزيز بن عبدالله بن تركي السبيعي إنشاء جامعة قطر حيث أوضح أن قصة إنشاء الجامعة مر بعدة مراحل حيث استقر الرأي النهائي بالاعتماد على أبناء الوطن في تأسيس جامعة وطنية، تضم كليتين إحداهما للمعلمين، والأخرى للمعلمات، ليكونوا نواة التعليم العالي في قطر، وبدايته، وذلك لحاجة وزارة التربية والتعليم الماسة للمعلمين والمعلمات، وصولا الى وضع الجامعة الحالي والتطور الكبير الذي تشهده ويشهده قطاع التعليم بالدولة.
