Katara Marks World Theater Day on March 27

Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) marks, on March 27, the World Theater Day, which falls on March 27 every year, with the aim of reviving this global occasion.

The celebration includes a symposium under the title “Qatari Theatre… Between Reality and Hope”, in which the theatre critic Dr. Hassan Rashid, the author and theatre director Hamad Al Rumaihi, and artist and director Jassem Ahmed Al Ansari will participate.

The symposium deals with the beginnings of the Qatari theater, and the difficulties that the playwrights faced in the beginning, the formation of private theatrical groups, the factors of theater flourishing in the eighties and nineties of the last century, and the challenges facing the Qatari theater at the present time. This will be followed by proposals that would bring this theater back to the fore again.

For his part, Director of Cultural Affairs and Events at the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) Khalid Abdulrahim Al Sayed said that the Qatari theater has a significant legacy that extends back nearly five decades, as Qatar is one of the first Gulf countries in which theater has a strong presence in the cultural arena.
He pointed out that Katara sought to invest its exhibition halls equipped with the latest technology, such as the opera house, drama theater and outdoor theater, in creating a theatrical movement that continues throughout the year. Therefore, in 2017, the Katara Theater activities were launched, which are concerned with revitalizing the theater by holding many theatrical events. The desired theatrical movement also includes partnerships with Arab and Gulf countries.

It should be noted that theater is one of the important cultural tools that the Cultural Village Foundation relies on a lot in achieving its vision of global leadership in multicultural activities. According to Katara cultural index statistics for the period from January to December 2022, Katara presented 82 live theatrical performances.

الدوحة: تحتفي المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي /كتارا/ في يوم 27 مارس الجاري باليوم العالمي للمسرح، الذي يصادف السابع والعشرين من مارس من كل عام؛ بهدف إحياء هذه المناسبة العالمية.

وتتضمن الاحتفالية إقامة ندوة تحت عنوان/ المسرح القطري .. بين الواقع والمأمول/، يشارك فيها الناقد المسرحي الدكتور حسن رشيد، والكاتب والمخرج حمد الرميحي، والفنان والمخرج جاسم أحمد الأنصاري.

وتتناول الندوة بدايات المسرح القطري، والصعوبات التي واجهت المسرحيين في البدايات، مرورا بتشكل الفرق المسرحية الخاصة، وعوامل ازدهار المسرح في ثمانينيات وتسعينيات القرن الماضي، وصولا إلى التحديات التي تواجه المسرح القطري في الوقت الحاضر، ويعقب ذلك تقديم مقترحات من شأنها إعادة هذا المسرح إلى الواجهة من جديد.

ويعقب الندوة تقديم مسرحية بعنوان: “غجر البحر” على خشبة مسرح الدراما، ولفرقة قطر المسرحية، وهي من تأليف طالب الدوس، وإخراج ناصر عبد الرضا، وتمثيل فيصل رشيد، وأحمد عقلان، وناصر حبيب، ومحمد الملا، ومذر ثاني، وروان حلاوي.

من جانبه، قال السيد خالد عبدالرحيم السيد، مدير إدارة الفعاليات والشؤون الثقافية بالمؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي /كتارا/: إن المسرح القطري يتمتع بإرث لا يستهان به، يمتد لنحو خمسة عقود، حيث تعد دولة قطر من أوائل الدول الخليجية التي حظي فيها المسرح بحضور قوي، في الساحة الثقافية، ما يؤكد تمتع المجتمع القطري بذائقة فنية رفيعة، مشيرا إلى أن /كتارا/ سعت إلى استثمار ما تملكه من قاعات عرض مجهزة بأحدث التقنيات، مثل دار الأوبرا ومسرح الدراما والمسرح المكشوف، في إحداث حراك مسرحي يستمر طوال العام؛ لذلك تم في العام 2017 إطلاق فعاليات /مسرح كتارا/، والتي تهتم بتنشيط المسرح من خلال إقامة العديد من الفعاليات المسرحية، من بينها مسرحيات عالمية، ومسرح الجاليات، كما يشمل الحراك المسرحي المنشود شراكات مع دول عربية وخليجية.

تجدر الإشارة إلى أن المسرح يعد إحدى الأدوات الثقافية المهمة التي تعول عليها المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي كثيرا في تحقيق رؤيتها الموجهة للريادة العالمية في الأنشطة الثقافية المتعددة؛ وذلك من خلال توفير منصة يجتمع عليها الناس من كل أنحاء العالم، ويشاركون بثقافتهم المفعمة بالحيوية.

وحسب إحصائيات مؤشر /كتارا/ الثقافي للفترة من يناير إلى ديسمبر 2022 قدمت /كتارا/ 82 عرضا مسرحيا مباشرا.
