7th Edition Of The International Classic Chess Open Championship Kicks Off

Doha: Today, the competitions for the seventh edition of the competition started “The International Classic Chess Open Championship” In the large hall of the Qatar Chess Training Center, with the participation of 130 male and female players, representing 23 countries, and the competitions will continue until March 18th.

Mr. Mohammed Al-Madhahka, President of the Qatar Chess Federation, inaugurated the kick-off for the competitions and the first move, in the presence of Mr. Hisham Al-Taher, Secretary General of the Asian Chess Federation.

The competitions are held from seven rounds according to the Swiss system over a period of seven days, during which all the regulations and laws of the International Chess Federation regarding the classic playing system and anti-fraud are applied.

Participation in it was approved for all players below the international classification of 2200 points, and each participant was required to possess a valid membership number (FIDE ID) in the International Chess Federation.

Many Qatari national team players will participate in the tournament, including Khaled Al-Jamaat, Ibrahim Al-Janahi, Muhammad Al-Hammadi, Irfan Muhammad and Kholoud Al-Khulaifi.

The total prize pool for the tournament is 25,000 riyals, where the winner of the title will receive 5,000 riyals, while the runner-up will receive 3,000 riyals, and the third-place holder will receive 2,000 riyals, in addition to material prizes for the rest of the centers up to the tenth place, and the organizing committee will award material prizes for the best Qatari player and player, and the best Qatari player under 20 years old, under 16 years old and under 12 years old.

Mr. Mohammed Al-Madhahka, President of the Qatar Chess Federation, confirmed that the tournament, which bears the name “Abdullah Abdul Ghani and Brothers Open Chess Championship 2023” It is one of the most important tournaments in Qatar, in light of the great participation and importance it enjoys from all male and female players. He expressed his happiness at the size of participation in this edition, thanking Mr. Hisham Al-Taher, Secretary General of the Asian Football Confederation for attending part of the competitions.

Al-Madhahka added, in a special statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), that holding the tournament at the international level cast a shadow over the reality of the game locally and contributed to its development, especially as it provided great services to the sport of chess and helped discover many talents.

Concluding his statement to QNA, Al-Mudhahka stressed that the tournament, which is held under the umbrella of the International Federation, is among the main objectives set by the Federation’s board of directors to expand the base of the game and attract many male and female players, as well as many national team players acquiring the necessary experience in light of There were 130 male and female players from 23 different nationalities.

الدوحة: انطلقت اليوم منافسات النسخة السابعة من “البطولة الدولية المفتوحة للشطرنج الكلاسيكي” في القاعة الكبيرة لمركز قطر التدريبي للشطرنج، بمشاركة 130 لاعبا ولاعبة، يمثلون 23 دولة، وتستمر المنافسات حتى يوم 18 مارس الجاري.

وافتتح السيد محمد المضاحكة، رئيس الاتحاد القطري للشطرنج، ضربة البداية للمنافسات والنقلة الأولى بحضور السيد هشام الطاهر الأمين العام للاتحاد الآسيوي للشطرنج.

وتقام المنافسات من سبع جولات وفق النظام السويسري على مدى سبعة أيام، وتطبق خلالها جميع لوائح وقوانين الاتحاد الدولي للشطرنج الخاصة بنظام اللعب الكلاسيكي ومكافحة الغش.

وتم اعتماد المشاركة فيها لجميع اللاعبين ما دون التصنيف الدولي 2200 نقطة، واشترط في كل مشارك حيازته رقم عضوية (FIDE ID) ساري المفعول في الاتحاد الدولي للشطرنج.

ويشارك في البطولة العديد من لاعبي المنتخبات القطرية، ومنهم خالد الجمعات وإبراهيم الجناحي، ومحمد الحمادي، وعرفان محمد، وخلود الخليفي.

ويبلغ مجموع جوائز البطولة 25 ألف ريال، حيث يحصل الفائز باللقب على مبلغ 5 آلاف ريال، فيما سينال الوصيف ثلاثة آلاف ريال، وسيحصل صاحب المركز الثالث على ألفي ريال، إلى جانب جوائز مادية لبقية المراكز وصولًا للمركز العاشر، كما ستمنح اللجنة المنظمة جوائز مادية لأفضل لاعب ولاعبة قطرية، وأفضل لاعب قطري تحت 20 سنة، وتحت 16 سنة وتحت 12 سنة.

وأكد السيد محمد المضاحكة، رئيس الاتحاد القطري للشطرنج، أن البطولة التي تحمل مسمى “بطولة عبدالله عبدالغني وإخوانه المفتوحة للشطرنج 2023” تعد إحدى أهم البطولات في قطر، في ظل المشاركة الكبيرة والأهمية التي تحظى بها من قبل جميع اللاعبين واللاعبات، معربا عن سعادته بحجم المشاركة في هذه النسخة، موجها الشكر للسيد هشام الطاهر الأمين العام للاتحاد الآسيوي للعبة لحضوره جانبا من المنافسات.

وأضاف المضاحكة في تصريح خاص لوكالة الأنباء القطرية /قنا/، أن إقامة البطولة على المستوى الدولي، ألقت بظلالها على واقع اللعبة محليا، وساهمت في تطورها، لا سيما أنها قدمت خدمات كبيرة لرياضة الشطرنج، وساعدت على اكتشاف الكثير من المواهب.

وشدد المضاحكة في ختام تصريحه لـ /قنا/ على أن البطولة التي تقام تحت مظلة الاتحاد الدولي تأتي ضمن الأهداف الرئيسية، التي وضعها مجلس إدارة الاتحاد لتوسيع قاعدة اللعبة، وجذب العديد من اللاعبين واللاعبات، فضلا عن اكتساب العديد من لاعبي المنتخبات الوطنية الخبرة اللازمة في ظل تواجد 130 لاعبا ولاعبة من 23 جنسية مختلفة.
